Korean punk would be Rumkicks / No Brain / Crying Nut. This is not that. This is K-Rock. I love these ladies ... it was my favorite and most popular interview. It was great chatting with them and I got to meet them twice in-person this year. Every single one of these girls is special in their own way. They each excel at what they do. K-Rock and J-Rock are distinctly different. K-Rock has a more catchy element to it. This band met a LOT of adversity in their home country (the land of K-Pop) in the early days. They were pioneers in getting people to accept K-Rock as a legitimate genre. They now have a loyal following around the world. They completed a US tour in 2023 and will begin an EU tour here in just a couple of weeks. They are fantastic LIVE.

IMO, “Fearless” is their best song and it’s the most recent so I’m looking forward to see what they are going to release in the future. I purchased their first single “Blaze” when they released it on CD at the time. I always keep an eye on them 👀
I can recommend you two artists/bands I really like from Korea. The band DIH, with their amazing singer and guitarist Sena. She can absolutely shred 🎸🔥.
And another artist from Korea I discovered only recently called MEMI. She plays guitar and sing. Her single “Guitar Pick” is so contagious and fun. It’s the catchiest song since “7 Nation Army”. You really should check out her live performance from the channel ONSTAGE which has been released on February 23rd from this year (and you have the subtitles for the lyrics which are very fun).

Good timing since Rolling Quartz are going to come to Europe next month (German dates are Köln 2024-01-30, Berlin 2024-02-01). I think their music is more simple than many Japanese rock bands but very fun and their videos look like they will put on a good live show. They did a great cover of ESC winning song Zitti e buoni by Måneskin, probably my favourite release from them so far.

I'm not a big fan of this song, but they do have a couple that I like a lot. One is "Sing Your Heart Out", which is a cover version of a Crying Nut (a famous Korean band) song, and I like it more than the original. The other is a ballad whose name I can't remember right now (EDIT: it's called Reminiscence) but I think it's their most recent MV.
I'd recommend DIH the most among Korean bands. Not sure they'll be your thing though as they are a bit old-school rock.

Some time ago I suggested for you to check out Dreamcatcher, so for a suggestion for Rolling Quartz, they have an official cover (has an MV and it's on the album) of Good Night by Dreamcatcher, you could check out both of those if it tickles your fancy.

Also check out DIH, they unfortunately seem to have gone on hiatus recently because it seems like they just couldn't pay the bills any more, but I like them a lot (more than Rolling Quartz by a large margin). They are a little less produced like a K-Pop group like Rolling Quartz are nowadays.
I still enjoy Rolling Quartz though, I just wish they were more focussed on their music and less on the members/looks. Some of the videos on their channels have basically nothing to do with music and look what Idol artists would do (not familiar enough with K-Pop to say for sure, but I guess they do it in that genre as well). It honestly keeps me from checking them out more, I honestly hate that type of stuff. I listen to music for how it sounds. I also feel like the music is a bit on the simpler side, clearly written for the radio (nothing wrong with that, but just not my preference).
They are getting a lot of subscribers and attention though and I hope they can find a way to help out all the other Korean rock bands because of that. Most of them have trouble breaking through in Korea from what I have heard, so it would be a great thing for their whole scene (and honestly the Japanese rock scene as well).

DIH are my favourite Korean band too. They have/had a very impressive singer-guitarist. I don't know many Korean bands though.

DIH has released two new videos in the last three weeks or so, in case you are interested. Both are cover songs, but at least it is new stuff from them.

I know, but I have a feeling this is stuff they still had lying around. I am happy to be proven wrong though, I hope they changed their mind. But they said they were going on hiatus not too long ago, but who knows. They didn't seem to want to go on hiatus, so they might have found a way to stay afloat a bit longer.

Stereogang is from Japan. If you want to try more K-Rock search out DIH, The Fix, BandUni, Walking After U, and others.
