  • In this video I will be showing you how to transplant fuchsia plants. These will be going into a hanging basket but you can use the same method for planting fuchsia plants into regular containers. I will also be discussing how to care for fuchsia plants.

Do fuschia's like to be squeezed a little in a smallish pot or do they prefer room to spread out? I failed miserably last summer at them (my cats were obsessed with them) and I'm trying again this year. I live in WA state so not a lot of sun here, I grow mainly indoors under a shop light. Just bought a little dude today at Lowe's but wonder if up-potting would be called for at this time. Great information in the video thanks!

Hi, If the plant is root bound then it should be transplanted. Fuchsia plants do like shade, I don't think the cloudy weather would bother them. I have before I had my greenhouse overwintered my fuchsia plants indoors under lights. The videos are on my channel for how I did that. I hope that helps you. Thank you and your welcome!

Hi! ty for this vid it answered so many of my questions ive been searching for. I wanted to ask you, for fertilizing, for the concentration of miracle grow, should I follow outdoor or indoor pant? And then half what is says. Also do you add feed on same day you water or maybe around it like the day after?

Hi, I use 1/2 tsp miracle gro per gallon of water and I feed them one time a week. I will pick a day for feeding my plants.

When you use the Miracle Gro bloom boost, do you use half of the recommended amount like you would the standard Miracle Gro?

My fuchsia baskets are under the porch when they are growing. You could move them to a covered area. When they get a lot of excessive amounts of rain it can wash all of the nutrients out of the soil, I would feed them when you can.

The fuschias spread out quite easily in a short span of time so this seems a little overcrowded for me!

When you buy the fuchsias in hanging baskets from greenhouses or big box stores they have 4 plants in one 10" hanging basket for a full look. It's recommended even when you buy the plugs to put 4 plugs in one 10" hanging basket. I've tried only putting like 3 or 2 plants per 10" hanging basket and it never looked full.

Carrie's Gardening Channel. That’s not alway true. I bought two from same place. One pot had 4 plants but other one only two. I have one plant I bought several yrs ago and had only one plant. This one is doing better, has copious blooms. The pot with four has the least amount of blooms. I’m going to repot.
