If I take cuttings and plant them in the late summer/fall in tiny pots for rooting, and suppose them root in fall outdoor (covered). And if we transplant them to pots soon after, should we leave the pots indoors or outdoors till next spring? We're in zone 8/8b. No greenhouse, but covered patio. Thank you!

hey! love your vids. I just got a dollar princess fuchsia 2 weeks ago. It seems to be growing well, but ive just learned about pinching. Right now the plant has small pink bulbs starting to develop? is it too late to pinch ? should i remove where the small buds are? i have it in a hanging basket right now. thanks in advanced!

Hi Yianna! 👋 Thank you for watching and for asking your questions! You can still pinch your fuchsia plant to help it branch out and grow thicker and out and trail. Definitely be aware that when you pinch off any stems with flower buds developing, it will take your fuchsia a couple of weeks to re-establish and grow new flower buds. The great news is that you still have most of the summer for your fuchsia to regrow any flower buds and have beautiful color later this summer. Yay! We say go for it and pinch back your fuchsia. After you pinch, put your fuchsia on a regular schedule of fertilizer (well balanced, like a 8-8-8, or 12-12-12) so it can get lots of nutrition to keep it healthy and growing faster. Always follow the fertilizer label on how to handle, mix, and apply it. Here are a couple we can recommend: Liquid Fertilizer for every week application - amzn.to/3xTOlqI AND a Granular Fertilizer for one application every 2 months (where every time you water, it fertilizes your plants a little bit) - amzn.to/35WEl4o
We hope all this helps and that your fuchsia grows big and beautiful! 😉👍

I just rescued a Fushcia from a store that’s bad about not watering. After just watering it good, there was a major change in appearance in that day. The stems of it are at least about 10-12” above the soil. If I pinch back, can that pinching be propagated?

Hi MissuhsipEgirl38685! 👋🏼👋🏼 Nice job rescuing that fuchsia plant! Oh, we LOVE propagation!!! Yes, spring and summer are both good times to take stem cuttings, so now is optimal if you have new growth. Food-for-though: if you take cuttings make sure not to take all the new growth off the plant, since it's already been in very stressful growing situation. Maybe harvest half, at most, of all the new growth, if you need that much plant material for your cuttings. This way you can get your cuttings and keep your plant alive to take even more cuttings from later and it will be healthier than if you harvest all the new growth now. Make sure to take at least 6 inches long of stem with 2-3 sets of leaves at the top of each stem and, if you can, have 2-3 leaf-internodes below the water line, so you'll optimize your rooting locations along each stem. They should root fairly easy in water or soil in about 2-3 weeks, so if in soil keep the soil continuously moist and mist your cuttings if your air is really dry. If you would like more help and a bit more detail on this, feel free to ask and you can email us at seanandallison@spokengarden.com, too! Sooooo excited for you!!
