Great discussion. Have shared with my husband to listen to with the view of sharing it with a leadership group he’s running. I was particularly impressed with Martyn’s dad’s parenting and thought it would be great for dad’s to be encouraged and challenged by. All the best with your channel. I’ve subscribed, even though I’m not your target audience. 😊 I can pass on to my husband though. God bless.

Thank you, that was a highlight for me as well. You’re welcome to stick around. Glad to hear it’s being used to encourage others.

Great stuff, Martin is a treasure and a good modern example of courage and faith. Really cool to hear more of his story.
My take on the question of how to foster courage is answered in 1 John 4:18; “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear”
I thought about this a lot, and this verse becomes particularly real for me when I imagine one of my kids in danger. If they fell of the edge of a cruise ship, you might think me diving after them is courage, but there is no courage in my action. Just love.
I think people are so wound up in their own lives and pursuing their own self serving desires, that the result of this is an empty life of misery and fear. If people made it their goal in life to just serve God and help others, they would be full of love and would appear to be full of courage, too.

Well put mate. Love motivates us to be courageous.

Imagine the world we would have today if Fathers had been like Martyns the past 50 years.

True Tim. Still many of us who can be that father in this generation. I also loved Martyn’s point that God can still fill that gap.
