Wanted your guys opinion on a new videos idea for the channel. It's were I compare new snap on and other tool brands to the older tools of the same. Video series will be called New versus Old. That way we can see how these tools have evolved over time.

I like a play on words, something catchy... like "now and older" or something. Just my .02

I would really like to see some old snap on ratchets compared to modern ratchets.

Cool video. I'm sure a lot of people were wondering how these compared, so..... great choice. TY for doing it.
I am far from a soldering snob.. I'm a Machine Mechanic, and I probably have to solder about 8-12 times a year, however, often times when I do have to solder it's a big job (20+ joints). I understand that cordless soldering irons like this have a place and sometimes can be a life saver, but if I have a choice, it is my electric Hakko every single time. Honestly, the higher end electric soldering irons are so much better there really isn't a comparison. Closer to 2 different tools than 2 different types of the same tool. And, if anybody is new to soldering, a tip I wish I knew when starting is that a pure conical (pointy) tip is one of the worst kinds. The points are too small to hold heat effectively and you wind up having to use the side of your tip which defeats the purpose of using a pointed tip in the first place. Use the smallest true chisel style tip you can find and you will be much further along than struggling with a conical tip to get mediocre results (yes...even for the smallest of soldering joints) And...for Pete's sake, use leaded solder. It requires a significantly lower temperature and the solder moves and responds to the iron infinitely better. OmG it is so much better. I've thought about getting one of these Snap-On soldering irons, but I they are almost identical quality and usability to the Milwaukee 12V. I have used both. If you have any 12V Milwaukee tools and you are torn between these Snap On ones and the Milwaukee I'd choose the Milwaukee.. if you dont have and 12V tools, I'd say they are a toss up. Well, except the price. The Milwaukee is about 1/3 of the cost... Obviously, this is all "my humble opinion", but it is an unbiased, honest one and one based on real world use and experience. Happy soldering.

I bought a Powerprobe brand off the Cornwell truck a few years ago. Very similar to the older SnapOn version. Your right though, they go through butane quickly. Good tool and good vid

I'd like to try the new one..but for what little I have to use one my electric one is just fine for now. I'd like a comparison video series of old vs new. I think that'd be pretty cool.

I'm a little late to the Party, This is the first time seeing the 42,I still use my 32,I had to replace the burner jet a few years ago. I ended up finding a good deal on ebay for replacement parts,a new burner jet and extra tips for $35. Maybe Ill pick one up after my 32 craps out.

I have the old style and have used the piss out of it. Only thing I dont like about it is the igniter on it. Usually it takes 3-4 times to ignite. My snappy dealer usually late getting new stuff in and I'm usually showing him stuff he don't even know about but I believe I'll upgrade to the new one. Great video

Go ahead and do a video comparing the old Brick to any other scanner if you have a vehicle that they both can connect too. I haven't had a vehicle requiring a brick yet.

Thanks for sharing. I have a question about replacing parts on the iron. I have the 32. haven used it in awhile. Will not ignite. I can here the gas coming from it. Doesn't seem to change by moving it from high to low. Suggestions on how to fix it.

Hey JRC54 I am looking into purchasing YAKS42 myself. I'm working in a heat sensitive area and I just realized that heat deflector is a must have for my job. Does heat deflector that comes with old soldering iron fits YAKS42? It seems no one actually talks about this in review...

The new one is really cool, but I’ll never buy one, I say that because I just discovered and tested the new Self Solder butt splice connectors. They are pricey, but I don’t do a ton of electrical repairs anyway.

I know the older version is made by another tool company with the Snap On name on it.
