    I recorded this, with a Sony WM D3 Pro cassette walkman, and an ECM-909 stereo mic that I was holding... I took about a dozen photos too with a disposable 35mm camera!

    Everything about who Layne was,vocal range master,side to side banger,witty loving,fan oriented, the sound of him speaking, compassion, the smile, the hair styles, the dress attire, is our gift though he has left us the gift that keeps on giving. We are fans for life!!

    I saw Layne in a three piece suit at the start of their set on Lollapolooza in 93 and it was like 95 degrees that day! Needless to say he took the jacket tie vest and shirt off after playing Would the first song to start the show! Very charismatic singer and great stage presence! His voice very unique and an unbelievable range! RIP Layne!

    They were a force with Layne Staley. They as a band and the fans were robbed of what might have been. With a healthy Staley, who knows what they might have done. Still lots of great stuff to hang on to, but what might have been… RIP

      Actually, Im pretty sure he was clean for the beginning of this tour, most of his issues were alcohol related

    • @immaededdneddy9382
      @immaededdneddy9382 10 лет назад +2

      *****
      While he probably didn't have any alcohol severities (maybe he's thinking of Kurt Cobain? People thought his problem touring was alcohol when it was really poppin' pills), that quote is not true. It's from a book full of lies, where the author never contacted Layne or anyone else.

    • @dankeenan8656
      @dankeenan8656 10 лет назад +2

      First off no need to launch ANY fucking attacks on me. And yes, I DO know shit about layne staley, AND drug abuse for that matter. For about a year alice in chains and jerry cantrell shows/albums are ALL i listened too because I connected so heavily with both of them. Want me to link you to a source that confirms this? Your insulin quote was not given until January of 2002, NINE years after this performance, so I don't know what the fuck the reason is for why you quoted that, its really a quote about heroin abuse in general, not specifically about this time. SECONDLY, if you listen to what the band and family and friends said about him around this time, he was actually clean for the beginning/most of the tour. He used to drink before and after every show to a point where they had a body guard follow him to prevent him from doing so, even though he'd usually get it anyway. Also, I doubt he was on methadone... methadone fucks up your singing voice, and if you want to hear an example, listen to the kansas show when they opened for kiss. Finally, OBVIOUSLY he was in rehab. He just came out before lollapolooza! And he went back in 1994 when Kurt blew his head off. So don't fucking tell me I don't know substance abuse and this band because for a while this was all i had.

    • @dankeenan8656
      @dankeenan8656 10 лет назад +1

      Ehh, Ill give you a chance to reread your own quote of me again. "Clean [heroin] beginning of THIS tour. Most of the issues [at the time] were alcohol related. NO, Im not arguing whether he had a crippling heroin addiction. No shit, but he was not the 1000% strung out EVERY show he played post dirt. Yes I know he crouched down at that show alot. He did that in many of his lollapolooza shows. In september/october of this year, you see him climbing the ropes in his shows [which are most definitely alcholol related]. However, here is what many who toured with him said about him. "To his fans Layne Staley was at his absolute healthiest during the summer of 1993, he even put on some puppy fat. Staley had been able to quit his habit and manager Susan Silver even had a security guard employed to follow Staley backstage on the tour, since alcohol was also on his prohibited list. Jonckheere says, “Layne would find our dressing room and come in and say hi. After a while, he asked if we had something alcoholic to drink. We always had some beers and vodka and it looked like he was in heaven when he saw that. We didn’t know he was recovering from some kind of rehab". So, and while I could VERY WELL be wrong, most accounts say that he was recovering from heroin rehab, which in essence would leave him strong out on all the shit they give you at these detoxs. Now ironically, any family detox/rehab experience was alcohol related, but nonetheless you are leaving with a few prescriptions for something, and that is probably why he looked sick. Otherwise, his heroin use resumed mostly permanently after this tour.

      " Im pretty sure he was clean for the beginning of this tour"
      I thought the beginning of the tour part would have implied that he was clean for that time period.
