- I went to Skiathos, Greece for 3 nights last weekend and it was amazing being able to travel so smoothly to somewhere so beautiful! Watch this feature length vlog full of tips and our experience the 3 days and nights; check in at London Gatwick, our Tui Airlines experience on a boeing 787-800, take off from London, landing into Skiathos on one of Europe's smallest runways, a tour and review of our accommodation at the Areti Apartments near Troulos, the local area, restaurants and food reviews, local beaches, excursions, our return flight to the UK and a few bloopers to finish off! Spent two fabulous weeks in Skiathos back in the early 80s on a back packing holiday. No direct flights back then. Had a long bus/ferry ride from Athens and flew back to the capital. The airport terminal was a portakabin and the plane was tiny. Stayed in a studio overlooking the sea on the outskirts of Skiathos town. No cocktails back then. Just ouzo with nibbles of olives, feta and octopus! Hope you return for a longer visit.
What more do you need other than ouzo?! Lol

I used to have a fear of flying - I would literally have panic attacks and start screaming 😂 I started watching fear of flying videos and slowly got better!

Last time we stayed in Troulos, and I missed the iced coffee, as a fellow addict I may indulge this time haha. Really enjoyed the video as you didn't go to the 'usual' places either.
Hi Jamie, loved this vlog. We've been to skiathos 12 times usually stay in the skiathos Premier which is above your breakfast stop. Absolutely love it like a second home to us.... this year is our 25th wedding anniversary so going on Arvia in August.... love watching your videos. You must go back to skiathos so much to see and do that you've yet to experience.

Today is cruise day (Viking Neptune) so we watched this in our hotel room last night. I know a lot of it might be editing, but I don't think we have ever seen one of your vlogs where Matthew was so clearly enjoying himself. It looked wonderful, and I am glad you both enjoyed it so much.
Ha! I think maffoo enjoys all our trips but he certainly felt very relaxed on this one! He’s probably a little too impatient for some of the newer bigger cruise ships. Enjoy fabulous Viking!

It may be different depending on the area you’re staying in - I didn’t have the loo roll issue in Santorini 😂

Looks like an Idyllic location. Me n the missus recently went to Zante for the first time. We stayed in a lovely family-run hotel in Kalamaki. Was a very nice stay and a very pretty island. I have mentioned Skiathos as a possible destination for our next Greek Island break. Thanks for the info.

Haaah that’s funny we were in troulos last year those apartments and the view look amazing !, we stayed at troulos bay hotel which is good for mobility issues and bang on the beach in that bay there are 2 swans who are very chilled and one is a black swan , i enjoyed seeing the restaurants as we were half board we didn’t try them , the food at troulos bay is very good btw as well and if you want to go into Skiathos town the bus is easy but i imagine packed in high season but we go away low season so no problem. Love your videos and the banter between you two! 😂❤

Great video, we booked that hotel 3 years ago but had to cancel twice due to the covid crap we've been to the places you ate at and couldn't fault any of them, it was good to see a proper video. 👍👍

We went to Skiathos last year and loved it, however the walk between the road and our hotel wasn't lit and this time we are going with a 6 month old baby. Would you say the Areti apartments would be suitable for walking too and from with a pram/is the path lit well?
It’s a very steep hill and lots of steps, plus the main road is dark in places
You couldn't have picked a better timing as we were just trying to work out how many emergency euros to take and also see how much coffee might cost in Greece. Thanks.

Guys if you have time whilst on beautiful Skiathos its worth taking a trip to Pelion! Unspoilt, quiet, natural, uncomercialised Greece! Best place to stay - Milina! And Damouchari beach, where the filming of MamaMia was!

Thanks for great video . Booked end May next year on strength of it . Going to NIna and I can use the facilities at the Areti ( single bookings to Areti not allowed by Tui next year ) One question about the blog , is it composit or are all scenes including Gatwick check-in videod that week-end ?

Jamie, I’m not a long vlog-watching person. Thirty minutes is pushing my observation power. Most of your videos I watch in 2 or 3parts. if it is at all possible, can you do your great presentations in shorter segments? Obviously, if I’m the only person making this request, just ignore. 🙏
Hi there - sorry cruiseforever, no one else has ever asked this but I take your point. I’m going to keep doing these feature length vlogs (sometimes 2 parters). I’m not a fan at all of 7 or 8 part series that others do - I tried them a few years ago and they don’t work for me at all for many reasons. They are done like that to squeeze out content and money. Sorry, those aren’t for me! 😞
Jamie, I never thought of videos as you described. Yes, a lot of vloggers do shorter ones. I'll just do yours in segments. Not a big deal. BTW, don't usually watch land-travel videos but you did an excellent job. Even Mattfoo arose to the occasion. Thank you for taking us along.
