    Thanks for sharing this. You confirmed my own ideas on best itineraries. We are planning to go for 9 nights, so I booked Paros for 4 nights, Santorini for 3 and 2 in Athens in the back end. I know it might be a little short, but this was the ideal amount of time to be away for us. First time in Greece, so it is nice to watch your videos and get excited :) Honestly, my husband and I are most perplexed with having to throw dirty toilet paper in the bins. LOL

      Sounds perfect! Are you staying in Naoussa in Paros? I absolutely loved 🥰 it! 2 will be fine for Athens, longer is great, but you will still see and do a lot with 2. If I had to stay 2 anywhere that’s what I would do. I’m so excited for you! You will have a wonderful time! It’s just so relaxing there and beautiful! The toilet paper thing was really weird at first! My friends said the same thing you did. But, I promise it’s not as bad as you think!! Have fun!! Thanks for watching and commenting! 💕🙏🇬🇷✈️

      It was great. Now sometimes the Aegean gets windy and that can make the ferry late or canceled when really windy. Just a heads up, that is the time of year that it can happen, but we have gone early Sept many times and been able to get everywhere, but seasickness is more likely on windy days.

      May or September. It’s still season, but “shoulder season.” Less expensive. I’ve been told May is better than September. But, water is warmer in September. But, also they have these winds that show up in September. They call them Meltemi winds. So sometime ferries get canceled and the wind can be crazy. But, even this year we went in June, July and we had some windy days. Anyway, you can’t really go wrong. It’s amazing all of the time!

    My niece and I would like to travel and visit Greece, in Sept. I would like if it’s a great time to visit. Where should we go as first timers. Is it easy to prebook or should we go for a tour type of trip?

    • @KathrynJBrooks
      @KathrynJBrooks  19 дней назад +1

      September is my favorite time to be there. It is part of the shoulder season! I love going that time of year, less expensive and less crowded too. Schools are back, colleges are back in session so less tourists. For your first time, I would say fly to Athens and get a flight that arrives in the morning or early afternoon. Then book a flight on Aegean to Santorini. Stay in Santorini for 3 nights. I like to stay in Imerovigli, but if you want a less quiet area stay in Fira. Find a nice clean small hotel. You could also stay in Oia, that is where most people stay, but the island isn't big. I wouldn't rent a car in Santorini, I would get a ride from a taxi or uber. All the hotels in Greece I have stayed and airbnb's have arranged rides for us to go from place to place. Depending on what you like to do there are some really interesting places to see in Santorini. Then go to ferry hopper and book a ferry to another island. I say Milos, Paros or Naxos Stay no less than 3 nights and 4 would be better. Then if you are planning on going to another island go to the one you didn't go to. When you are on the islands get an all day trip out on a catamaran. They take you to some great spots to swim and they provide dinner and drinks. It's really fun. Then after that if you are on Naxos, or Paros, get a flight back to Athens and stay in Athens for 2-4 nights. Stay in Plaka area. There are links on my website to the ferry's etc. kathrynjbrooks.com/ feel free to to reply with any other questions.

How did you like Paros, I am really interested. Thank you!

      Also, another question. How do you recommend travel on the islands? Thank you!

    • @KathrynJBrooks
      @KathrynJBrooks  Год назад +2

      Thank you so much. I loved Paros. We stayed in Naoussa. The hotel arranged a driver for us from airport and port, as well as when we wanted to go to a further beach or restaurant. The restaurants would also call us a driver. We only rented a car in Milos and took it back the next day. We planned to keep it longer, but we liked the driver idea so much. There were 4 of us so it wasn't that expensive. So, either rent a car or use drivers. Naoussa has so many shops and restaurants and beaches, we mostly stayed right there. I definitely plan to go back again. I am so glad my video was so helpful!!! Feel free to ask anymore questions, Kathy

    • @Fsmithrp
      @Fsmithrp Год назад

      @@KathrynJBrooks Thank you so much for the reply! I can't wait to go! Did you find taxis/drivers to be relatively expensive compared to elsewhere? I have heard a lot of people recommend renting. On that note, did you notice how much renting is on the island for an ATV for example? Also, when you rented the vehicle did you have to have an international driving permit or were you able to use your US ID?

    • @KathrynJBrooks
      @KathrynJBrooks  Год назад

      @@Fsmithrp I did get the international license. I just did it online. It was quick and easy. I heard someone at the rental place in Milos ask if they needed it for ATV and they were told no, only for cars. The drivers were different prices everywhere. I’ve heard the taxis try to inflate prices for tourists, that’s why we stuck with drivers they the hotels and restaurants arranged.

    Why do you recommend doing athens on the back end of the trip?

    • @KathrynJBrooks
      @KathrynJBrooks  19 дней назад

      I recommend visiting Athens at the end of the trip because it allows you to soak in the history and culture after experiencing the beautiful islands. It’s a great way to reflect on your journey! It worked best for us when we went. I tried to do it at the start of the trip once, but in the end, you must get back to Athens to leave. So, people will fly into Athens and stay a night at an airport hotel at the start or end of their trip. So, that is wasting a night and spending too much money. So, if you go straight to the islands, do all the island hopping then come back to Athens and stay for a few nights it is better for your time management. So, for example, one time we went to Athens first for 3 nights, then back to the Athens airport to fly to the islands, then back again to Athens for one night to catch our flight home the next morning. When you do it on the back end, you are already in Athens and you can just get a ride that morning to the airport. Plus shopping is best in Athens.

    Curious, why do you recommend Athens on the back end of the journey/ trip?

    • @KathrynJBrooks
      @KathrynJBrooks  5 месяцев назад +2

      Because you’re going to have to come back to Athens to fly back to that US . So after doing it both ways, I wound up realizing that I preferred Athens on the back end because most of the time people have to go to Athens then they get to go where they’re gonna stay in the city of Athens then they have to go back to the airport again or to the ferry to go to the islands and then they wind up having to come back to Athens again and most of the time they’re gonna have to spend at least a night in Athens when they come back so that they can make their international flight the next day, so it’s a lot of wasted time with the back-and-forth so I have done this a few times now. we arrived into Athens early to mid morning, went through customs got back into the airport flew Aegean into one of the islands. It was. the best vacations I’ve had there. At the last part of the trip We flew back from the island to Athens and stay in Athens a few nights. Then got a ride the morning of our departure from Plaka where we weee staying instantly of wasting money and a night at the airport hotel. Does that make sense?

      There’s so many options. Do you want to do the islands or the mainland? I think for first time the best is a few days in Athens at the end of the trip. I think everyone should experience Santorini at least once. The views are amazing, jaw dropping, magnificent. Then a few nights on another island. I wouldn’t recommend Mykonos. I think everyone should go to Santorini at least 1x. But, my best advice is to go to the islands that the cruise ships don’t go to! I just got back from Naxos. Last year, I went to Naxos, and Koufanisa. The year before, Milo’s and Paros! I’m planning next trip now! .. I haven’t been to Crete yet.. it’s on the list.

    How is the weather the first week of October for santorini?

    • @KathrynJBrooks

      It does start to cool down, but still can be pleasant and comfortable. I’d say bring light jackets for evening. But, daytime will be nice not too hot and not too cold.

      If you are flying into Athens, I would suggest getting there in morning or midday and booking a flight to Santorini. Stay in Santorini, then ferry to Mykonos. Then fly back to Athens from Mykonos and stay there for your 3 nights. Stay in the Plaka area. The Airbnb that we use is in a fantastic location. It will sleep a family of 4 very comfortably and it is right near the Acropolis museum. Here is the link AirBnBwww.airbnb.com/rooms/29820608?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=25c9c68a-82b7-4009-81f8-21b0fdd03eb5

      Probably, but not directly. I don’t believe the big jumbo jets fly to Santorini.

      It should be nice. It’s the early part of the travel season. The water may be a bit cooler, but still nice. We went beginning of September.

      Im sorry I missed this reply. I’m not sure where your flying from. But, I would say aside from flying you could do a week-10days , staying in Airbnb and avoiding the expensive tourist areas for about 3000.00 and I’m taking about, accommodations, food, transportation.

    If I’m flying domestic in Greece, Do you pay for the extra luggage or no?

    • @KathrynJBrooks
      @KathrynJBrooks  Год назад

      We didn’t. We flew in Aegean. I did buy the fare that wasn’t their basic fare. It was the next level up. I believe it allows changes. We were able to check a bag, and then took a carryon and a personal item on board.

      lol! 😂 exactly! As they entered Ellis island they changed the name from Kalogeros to Brooks! It’s as annoying as can be in present day! Fortunately for me I found the paperwork needed from Greece! So I’m a few steps away currently from becoming a Greek citizen. Maybe I will change my name legally to Katerina Kalogeros… ✈️🇬🇷🤷‍♀️

    Hello, 🌹🌺🐦🐦May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED."
    God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin.Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
