Nevertheless Acura did a great job with this and deserves a lot of kudos.
For $60k this doesn't "spank" anything. That is a ridiculous price for a Honda product. Just get a real CPO luxury vehicle for that price. I don't see anything luxurious about that busy, overdone interior. I also don't see why anybody would waste thousands of dollars to get this over a Telluride.
@@mrsj1417 Lol the QX60 and the RX have each been around for like 5 years now! Are there better overall entries in this segment? Sure. @@renzodelacruz7281 True, the MDX definitely has a more athletic bent to it than the XC90, for sure. Though in this segment of three row luxury SUV’s I wouldn’t care as much about that if I was shopping in this segment. Hence why I said I might prefer the XC90 or GV80.
this car is much roomier and more fun to drive than the RX350L. the RX350L is just a 4.5 inch stretch of the current gen. Lexus should have redesigned it with more interior space in in order to continue competing in the 3-row luxury crossover segment.

Only thing stopping us from considering another Acura is the fact the RLX is discontinued. If Acura redesigned it and brought it back on the market, we’d seriously consider.

Nice review, pushing the MDX on high speed corners was amazing!! I have a 2018 Pilot Elite now and love it, I can see the MDX being a very nice upgrade. I'm very likely to get one now...
I was smiling throughout the whole video. Sounds like you want to get one ;)

Great review! Be a sweet upgrade from my Mazda CX-5 haha. My favorite thing about this my third Mazda is how they drive. To some degree I think Acura's are the luxury version of Mazda's, offering a fun and sporty driving experience for those who enjoy driving and not just going from A to B. I'd rather a touchscreen but I'd live with the touchpad thingy. Some have said this does 0-60 in about 7 seconds others have said low 6 seconds. It's heavier than the previous version, I wonder has acceleration dropped slightly?
I was thinking it looks a lot like the Mazda. Lol even the interior
I like this MDX much better over x5
I like this over every SUV. I'm single but even I'm tempted to get this MDX in red. What a stunner
@@omairsh8 did you ever get it ? Lol single mdx
ok but the X5 is better in almost every way. It’s RWD based, inline 6 engine as standard, nicer interior, more tech
@@kristians2704 Honda/Acura are better vehicles. Better built, more reliable and other things such as tech and interior finishes are closer than ever. Overall a better product.
@@keynesianeconomics4113 the only thing that Acura/Lexus does better than the Germans is reliability but that’s it.
You know what else is butter smooth? TheTopher
the infotainment looks so nice and smooth and nice to use
Go sound system and I can hear loud and clear. So nice to have a car like this while cruising on the road. It really feel like your engaging with the vehicle and the music.
I don’t need an suv as big as this but if I did it’d be top of the list. The update looks excellent.
Exactly, I wouldn't even look at the competition. This MDX would be a no brainer
That is impressive😍 that corner at 8:15 seconds, you should use that corner to test vehicles handling
I had a 2024 MDX SH-AWD for a loaner recently while our 2018 RDX was in the shop for a water leak to the interior. Absolutely loved the MDX, and would buy one except the water intrusion issue isn’t occurring with just the RDX; it’s also happening with the MDX. I’m wary of the possibility of getting another Acura with a water leak.
That is a beautiful vehicle, inside and out. I love the angles.
Love this car. Can’t afford it right now, gonna have to stick to getting an older one for now. Great review.
You were riding out and it held up well. Very good review.
Best 3rd row SUV !! Looks, performance and great reliability
Nice. Can’t wait for the twin turbo v6 hybrid. I love Acura’s SH-AWD
I don't usually care for crossovers. But, this is fabulous.
6:29 "...the ratio changes depending on your speed..." The ratio changes with steering angle - not speed. The amount of steering assist changes depending on speed.
What? Speed is a %100 a factor in changing steering ratio, are you smoking crack? So you telling me the car knows whether you're going 100mph on the freeway or 5mph in the parking lot just by steering angle? Think.
@@theautomator2001, the steering ratio is determined by the number of teeth on the pinion gear and the spacing of the teeth on the rack - those are machined parts that don't change with speed. See section on EPS at this link. www.acurainfocenter.com/vehicle-info/2021-tlx/feature-benefits/chassis
This car is amazing!
Interesting that Acura decided to offer V6 in this new MDX and not just went with the turbo 4. I wish they offered the V6 in TLX too. TLX engine bay area was clearly designed for it.
The TLX Type S will get the V6 Twin-Turbo.

I have a 3.7 MDX, I’m on the second engine that blew due tointernals failing. The interior and exterior is still immaculate so I’m going for a third engine swap.
@Ryan Gromoll thnks for the advice and do you think the ecu, awd system, etc would be plug and play?
Im not sure what sounds better, that J35 V6 or the sound system
That V6 😍🤤
You should make it a habit to do a launch and a break test in every video at the exact same time because that's really only why I watch these videos unless I want the car
Glad they kept the 3.5. 2.0t has no business in a 3 row suv.
you know it's a good year in america when honda makes a good MDX
Yet some American commenters on RUclips bitch about it. It's hilarious, these new Acuras are going to do really well in the market
@@omairsh8true but again unfortunately people can be as biased/unbiassed as they like to be and a lot of people choose to go the biased route 😢, that’s why the opinions on this MDX and many other vehicles are mixed, though IMHO it’s a phenomenal product
True
My favorite new SUV, inside and out. With the exception of the ILX, Acura is back in a big way.

I like how you were flooring the gas pedal a lot and testing out the SH-AWD
Excellent review, I can't wait to get one this year.
This was a top notch review!
Wtf @ The sound system... best one i've heard by far.
Definitely some Mazda influence in the front end styling. Looks great.
My mom has a ‘16 and this is definitely a big step up from that! Perhaps it’s time for an upgrade soon👀 This definitely spanks the QX60 and RX in this segment, but personally, I might be tempted by an XC90 or a GV80 over this.
Sure. But Acura has done more here than at any other point in the MDX’s history to separate it from the Pilot, while also still offering one of the strongest values in this segment.
@@mrsj1417 Actually, $60k is on point for the A-Spec with Tech. Go ahead and buy a outrageously marked up Telluride. LOL.
You will be impressed by how the v6 sh-awd handles than the turbo 4 cyl xc90. But i I do like the xc90, q7, and the gv80 too.
Can’t wait to get these in at work 🔥
Why is there no heated steering wheel on the A-Spec MDX and TLX?
Hopefully they take feedback from early buyers and add it down the road
this car is much roomier and more fun to drive than the RX350L. the RX350L is just a 4.5 inch stretch of the current gen. Lexus should have redesigned it with more interior space in in order to continue competing in the 3-row luxury crossover segment.
You seem to really know your vehicle compared to other reviewers I've watched, thank you! I'm currently debating this '22 MDX A-Spec Certified or a new Subaru Ascent Onyx. Any advice? Obviously I think the MDX probably drives better and I'm coming from a '14 RDX.
That J series..... beautiful soundtrack!
Awesome review. Well done.
I literally thought it looked just like the 2020 model on the outside. Very minor differences on the exterior. Interior is much different.
While this is awesome I do miss the ruggedness of the 2nd gen. From hardware store visits to camping to towing trailers, its been capable and since 2014 the trans and power steering coolers are no longer standard. I doubt we'll ever see one but would definitely be interested in buying a Acura version of the Honda Passport.
Can you do a night drive pov, we wanna see the ambient light
Wow, amazing sound system🔥
13:05 It's so nice to see that there are other people who drive SUVs the way I do... you know... like regular people. :)
The best suv Acura
This MDX is what the Mazda CX-9 should have been. I think this is Acura's best MDX to date. My only gripe is it's not rwd bias and the rear hatch glass doesn't open.
I love my MDX. Well I bought it for my wife but she wanted something else so I kept it for myself. Months later she was driving my MDX more than her car. She wanted my MDX. Sorry you turned it down it’s mine. We both just love it.
My parents also share a 23’ MDX and love it. Our other car is a 18’ QX60 with 73k miles that isn’t in the best shape and we barely use it. My dad is looking to get a new X5 or 5-series though. Only thing stopping us from considering another Acura is the fact the RLX is discontinued. If Acura redesigned it and brought it back on the market, we’d seriously consider.
I am glad Acura finally stepped their game up. Infiniti could certainly learn a thing or two.
The new QX60 looks promising but we’ll see how much it keeps from the monograph. Lexus is who I’m worried about. They aren’t doing refreshes for another 2 years
@@AFCompany The new QX60 is not as good. While outside styling is subjective, interior functionality is objective, and I'm not a fan of the capacative climate control panel on the new QX60, because I prefer real buttons, like what the new MDX has.
@@Blank00 ya the MDX has way better interior for sure than the QX60 will, I just really like the way the exterior looks. However who knows if it will actually look anything like the monograph.
