    20 years ago, I asked my neurologist about catamenial epilepsy and he dismissed me, saying “do you only have them during your period?”. I said no, because I also had them in the middle of the month, but I knew nothing about the menstrual cycle and ovulation. Now I’m peri-menstrual and it brings up a whole new set of issues because my cycle is irregular.

      I have always kept a diary and it shows that seizures mostly occur at the start n at the end of the cycle... I have been on clobozam for many years but I now take it twice daily 20mg a day. I asked my neurologist at my previous consultation being on so many medications keppra, Perampanel, zebinix and clobozam does that effect on how often a cycle occurs as I seem to be very regular 20 days ish but she was not aware of anything like that. Your videos are very interesting and full of knowledge thank you for taking extra time to make these n share on social media 😍😁 xx

      My seizures ceased whilst I was pregnant and breast feeding . The whole time of no periods I had absolutely no seizure whatsoever. I was 30 yrs old .
      I am now 42 and am nearing menopause where I find my epilepsy is becoming worse and unpredictable. I have kept diaries, I have made notes etc and studied my hormonal cycle. I did previously use Depo provera twice and I had no Deja vu, no epileptic seizures whatsoever , However when I tried Depo provera recently I found before I was due for the next dose , I had a grand mal seizure and I figured it may be because I’m becoming close to menopause .
      However I have been told to use Clobazam only if I feel a seizure coming on because it is a very high toxic drug for the Pancreas? Or liver ? So I’m desperate to have. A hysterectomy knowing this has worked for me so I can get back to living a normal life . I’ve been forced out of working , no more driving , and I live with my child and my dog which a doctor suggested I get , and I do t regret it because my dog will stick to me like glue when he knows something isn’t right

    Does estrogen in itself cause epilepsy/ seizures or does this only happen in women with a current diagnosis of seizures? I had epilepsy as a child and outgrew it during puberty. I’m about to get my last ovary out and they have me on estrogen now as I’m in perimenopause. I’m scared my epilepsy diagnosis will come back.

    • @DrOmarDanoun
      @DrOmarDanoun  10 месяцев назад

      Estrogen itself does not cause epilepsy.. Only provoke seizures in epilepsy patients... The other question needs to be discussed with your neurologist

    Can you suggest tests to get them to look into this? I tick all the boxes for c1 pattern and have been prescribed clobazam, now the NHS is refusing to take over the prescription because I went to a private doctor due to waiting times to see the specialist. I have been waiting for video telemetry results since August. They have the results, but no appointment to discuss them yet. I was at the hospital yesterday because I had 9 seizures, 8 partial, 1 tonic clonic. I waited 5 hours only to be 7th in line, not including everyone waiting outside in the ambulance, so we left at midnight instead because the sleep deprivation was getting to me and there was nothing they would have done, unless I had another tonic clonic one and got injured or reached the 5 min mark. I had 3 partial seizures there. No nurse checked in if I was ok. I cannot keep buying the clobazam out of my own pocket, but since I started taking it, was the first time since almost 3 years that my seizures stopped after the first one, and was the longest time I've fone without a tonic clonic seizure. I ran out 3 weeks ago. I don't know what to tell them, so they finally look into this.

    My daughter has worsened when she starts to get in puberty that's was after 3 years.
    In September 2022 was her first period and after it's finished her seizures change and moved from day seizures to night seizures and her eeg changes too, before 2 weeks she had her second period and the seizures again moved to the daytime at noon. I'm very surprised and I don't know what to expect.
    If her seizures will change it after every period until she is in puberty?

    I am suraj, I am 21, I am suffering from epilepsy or maybe seizures.
    In past few years I had 15 to 20 attacks..
    Recently I had an EEG and MRI test,
    Doctor says it is normal so I asked the doctor how it is possible to get seizure without any abnormal activity in brain.
    He told me it is possible to get seizure without this.
    I don't know what to do, I have many doubts but I am ignoring it and just following the medicines which the doctor suggested me.
    Sir plz tell me is it possible to get seizure without any brain abnormality.
