Great to see whitehaven port again , took my vhf licence course there too , I always wanted a little sail boat there when I lived in Lancaster ,, nice people up there , I’ve just bought an enormous ( compared to yours lol ) 1968 21 ft Dufour sylph moored in’Loctudy » Finistere Brittany , and looking forward to sailing her in my huge challenge to Camaret sur mer rounding my Cape Horn the infamous « point du Raz « ,, I now live here in Brittany and love to see my old haunts so thanks , I will be watching every step of your adventure , fair winds pal , Neil .
At what point does the definition of a boat include a floating cork?

How much did it cost to build this and is it possible to build it out of wood? I moved out for the first time into a j24 and I'd prefer a smaller boat I'm thinking that a kite boat would probably be a good bet but it wouldn't be able to beat your record
Do you have your ham radio license? Be nice to make a contact with you along the trip. Some of those Marine SSB radios have a ham mode.

You say, "I don’t know what to say to everyone who has supported me and helped me.?" You should say "Sorry, I sold you a stupid idea, doomed from the start, with predictable results by anyone with a decent IQ and sailing knowledge. At least I didnt have to risk other people's lives rescuing me!"
Do these wannabe record breakers have rescue insurance, or fund their own rescue? I'm ok with tempting fate at your own risk and expense but I have a problem with these vanity projects, and them calling for help once something goes wrong, and risk the lives of pilots, and mariners that takes to save them out of their own perils, plus the expense to taxpayers. That was a problem in Australia, that around the world racers would inevitably dismast or run into trouble close to Australia, and they had to dispatch planes and ships to try to find them, and the public was complaining about it.

You’re stupid for believing that this is a significant cost to tax payers
I understand your points of objection, but where do you draw the line for rescue? Do we not rescue the untrained sailors? How about idiot sailors? How about extravagant vanity / party boat sailors? How about commercial sailors? All these people are rescued on the taxpayer’s dollar. Joe Blow taxpayer who is struggling to make ends meet is obliged to pay up to help rescue those privileged enough to own a boat and leisure time to enjoy it. The only logical line to draw would be to stop all rescue operations funded by public fees. All should be totally funded by private insurance?
