Dual Z32 Caliper Upgrade | D21 Drift Truck - Ep. 15

- The drift truck gets brakes! In this episode I install dual Z32 rear calipers on the factory Nissan D21 Hardbody axle using the Beebani Customs [Jason Pope] dual caliper bracket. The truck will have a caliper for normal braking operation and a caliper dedicated to a separately plumbed hydraulic e-brake assembly. I also use the opportunity to clean up the axle and third member.
Converting the D21 Hardbody from drum to disc brakes is a HUGE upgrade, but adding a dedicated hydro e-brake makes it all the better.
Parts Used:
-Rear Calipers: 1996 Nissan 300zx aka Z32
-Rear Rotors: 2002 Honda Passport 3.2L AWD
-Rear Axle: 1997 Nissan Hardbody 5-speed

What epoxy paint do you use is it all the same on your frame and diff all throughout the truck
I was using POR15 chassis Black on some parts and Summit Racing chassis paint on others since Summit is more chemical and brake fluid proof to an extent

Hey man, love the simplicity of this build. I am doing a similar frame set up but using toyota hubs so I can have 5 lugs. I am also mounting a dodge rampage to frame with a Ford 8.8.

so if i wanted to do such a setup to my truck but keep the parking brake , would that be possible?
I’m sure it’s possible to keep the factory parking brake setup, just depends on how much it’s worth to you. The problem is finding a compatible rotor and the spacing of everything. If you can work that out, then it’s possible.
For me, I have a hydraulic e-brake handle that has a click back locking feature built into the base. So, when I need to use the parking brake, I just pull the handle back and flip the little tab over and it locks it back.
You have to be smart about it though. Can’t just finish a few laps drifting or doing high speed runs with heavy braking then just set the parking brake. It would be wise to wait till the rear rotors cool off.
Hey man, found your channel recently and loving the videos. I wish I would have found it back when I had my D21 and perhaps I would have kept it longer. I'd say mount the cab next! and the color maybe it'll be Blue? We'll probably use some of your tips to fix the hardbody we got in our channel too. Keep up the good work!

I will try to find the link for you. They are 2002 Honda Passport 3.2l AWD rear rotors.

Color OEM Maroon :) Same as my 97. Loving the build! I get the cab thing, but I would kinda like to see it with all the suspension and wheels on first. Rolling F1 style ;) And thanks for the link. The dude did make a good video on the wheel bearings, you just have to look past whatever else he is trying to accomplish with his channel lol.

How is the pad to rotor fitment? Any of the pad hanging above the rotor?

@@Inner_Sanctum was it because of the bracket? My question wasnt necessarily a beebani issue, I just wonder if the rotor itself has a large enough surface to accomodate the z32 pad. I am swapping H233B into my truck and I need to account for the rotor thickness when narrowing the axles.
@@Zukuri620 the rotor has plenty of surface for the pad to fit, and the radius is such that you’re able to fit the rotor high enough into the caliper to utilize the entire pad. In my case, the brackets just mounted the calipers a little too high, so I made the adjustment on the mounting portion of the bracket to “slide” it down since the orientation of each caliper was not an issue.

Yep. Everything from Jason will get PC, except the parts that weld to the chassis. Those parts will be epoxied.

Have a drift truck project... 2011 chevy Colorado 2.9L AT posi traction 4.10 gears rearend... looking to upgrade the brakes from drum to disk brakes... Can u suggest some brand or mods to do ???
Good question. Love those trucks. I've seen drift Colorado's with dual rear caliper setups before. Let me see what I can find.

Hey man I had a quick question. How are you doing the brake lines? Are you going with all new lines or are you plumbing into the existing lines? What size lines and fittings?
Just saw this. Sorry. I am running all new NiCopp lines for both fuel and brakes. Probably going with 1/4" for the brakes and 3/8" for the fuel. Then using braided stainless lines in the flex/articulation/steering areas.

It all depends on how much you can get your parts for. Between $600 and $1000.
Jason makes junk. I thought his stuff was cool when I was a kid, used some of it, had issues. He's not a bad guy, but he's not an engineer.
I will say that everything that I bought from Jason had to be modified. Some things required extensive modifications. I was certainly frustrated for the amount of money I spent and time I waited.
I absolutely could have built all these things myself rather quickly. However, I bought all his stuff at one time and heard good things from other folks.
