This is why Tifo is the best. Short and simple explanations with a great visual representation of what the subject stands for. Amazing content.
Most of their shorts are kinda too superficial… There’s time to go deeper into the topic but they usually just state everything we already know and call it a day
I swear down ... Well explained
it's plain wrong though
@@edmann1820not rlly
@@sethholland-vn7og It starts off by saying it's the most iconic position. If it's iconic it must be well defined. It's only in recent years that clubs have stopped playing with two strikers and started playing with one striker and the number 10 that they describe.. For me growing up a number 10 was a target man or a deep lying forward. Never a midfield position. So how can a number be iconic when it's the position that has changed more than any other? It mentions some number 10's from a long time ago but they were the exceptions, not the rule. TIFO has way too much recency bias. This leads them to push a narrative that simply hasn't been true for most of football's history. They're like the guys who pretend that football didn't exist before the PL. And, they have no excuse because most of their analysts are older than me. They should know better.

Ahh... Juan Román Riquelme. Probably one of the best n. 10s I ever witnessed, a massively underrated player that could have even played for Fergusson's UTD, yet opted to play for Boca Juniors of Argentina.

I may be wrong but I don't think they do the same types of numberings in England as they do everywhere, like the 10 doesn't have the same worth for them as lets say the 9. For example Kane uses 10 for Spurs when he's clearly a 9
I respect so much that among all top 10s you mentioned Riquelme especially.

I really love this channel, really helped me fall in love with the beautiful game
Can we suggest that Jari Litmanen was ahead of his time in the '94-'95 Ajax side in being a workhorse-like #10? His defensive abilities allowed the #4 to be the regista-like playmaker.
Litmanen is one of the most underrated players in history. He was way ahead of his time.
Özil is a perfect example for this position.
The Tsubasa.
This is exactly what Martin Odegaard is doing for Arsenal ❤
And Ødegaard is the perfect example of the 8/10 hybrid rather than a classic 10.
Ode isn't a 10.His profile is more unique, he's a 8/10 hybrid similar to pedri.

@@gourmondal5812Pelé was called in Brasil "ponta de lança" which translates to "spearhead" and is used to refer to the player who usually positions behind the striker making passes to the striker, one-twos and shooting from outside the box... I really hope people dont misread your comment, because they are going to blast you lol (I agree btw, Riquelme the master of "Toco y me voy")
I play a number 10 role on the left wing and attacking midfield, once I got 7 assists and 3 goals in an 11-8 win
many people claim that the number 10 is dead because you can't have a player who doesn't work on the pitch.
the number 10 has changed and now needs to put up work but can also add creativity to the team. it's not dead.
it is dead in most systems. Football has outgrown the classic number 10 role. Players like odegaard are 8/10 hybrids, not a classic 10.
Dele is a classic example. He is a typical no.10 who couldn't fit into modern systems.

I'm sure I would believe your two cents above all the Footballing Legends who hail him as one of the greatest Playmaker from Pele, Maldini, Lampard to Carlo Ancelotti, Zidene, Sir Alex Ferguson.
Thanks!
Nah the best no.10 is Jack grealish lol
Not a single mention of Müller really shows how underrated my man is
he’s number 25 but yeah his role is like that. they mostly talk players that wear 10 in this video
also he’s no longer underrated. everyone talks about him being underrated which is making me believe everyone knows. who cares about the media? everyone knows. underrated is like rakitić. even mourinho knows
Muller is special. He is the one and only raumdeuter
Muller has played more as a centre forward than anything else. he's not a n10
He's a 10 and second striker hybrid who tracks back like an 8. KDB shares the same profile. That's how they survived the death of the classic luxury 10 role where Ozil, James, Isco, Coutinho suffered.
Muller is raumdeuter he is a winger and striker he creates space for his players no9 and 10 it requires simple skill and football intelligence, that’s why muller has the one of the highest footballing IQ in the world
Oscar at Chelsea under mourinho was the 1st no.10 to combine finesse with workrate, paving the way for the modern no.10. ICONIC 💙🔥
Hazard was way better tho and he chose money
@@greez6424 ok?
The number 10 is a dying breed imo as most natural 10s end up as the attacking CM in a 3 man midfield e.g. De Bruyne and Eriksen. The only world class 10s I can think of are Bruno Fernandes and Thomas Muller and they can play there because they are also the hardest working players on the pitch
Please understand, no 10 is not always a playmaker, but most of them are, and just because they score a lot of goals doesn't make them not a no 10, just like Messi, he is the purest no 10, but he just so good that he could score 30+ goals a season.
Looking forward to more short videos like this one!
There is no reason you needed to show Defending as something negative, not only is our job harder, it is also the only reason that you don't lose by a lot/you don't lose a lot. And, it's very fun. Pepple keep showing devensive plays as something boring and stale, and attacking plays as extremely cool and fun. It's much more than that.
Kaka is the perfect example of No.10
Not really, he played more like a second striker anyway and his playmaking abilities weren't that special

Ah. I don’t understand why Riquelme didn’t get enough praise during his time. I was watching Villarreal champions league games just because of him
Love the video, could you do the number 4 shirt next?
In today’s game, Modrić is probably the best representation of a balance number 10 in both offensive and defensive part. The best of both worlds.
Modric is a CM or deep-lying playmaker, not 10 lol.
He lacks the number of goals to be no 10 and play way too deep for what 10 supposed to be, at least Modric in Real Madrid.
Also, Griezmann and Bruno Fernandes would disagree.
Next, would be Jamal Musiala
@@ahmadmuliawan0008yes he’s an 8
The role of Enganche, which is what Riquelme played, became a massive liability to Argentina . A 10 now has to attack & defend, which 10’s back then didn’t do much because they didn’t run much
Loved the new video ❤
Classic number 10

Man talking about number 10 without talking about Pelé is an crime, because before him 10 was Just an number
Did dele play the 10 under poch? He was so good during that era and it sounds a lot like what he did for spurs.
Jorge Valdivia, the chilean Ronaldinho, and one of the best no. 10 in football history. His passes were magic.
With this simplified explanation that Tifo gave, Messi fits as a 10. I've seen the more in-depth look and understand why the 10 role doesn't fit. To counter though, I am now talking about Messi of right now, 2023, when I say, he's a 10. He's stretching it, but just fits the role.
To those wondering why Messi doesn't fit a 10, simple answer, he does far too much on the wing and centrally at the front to fit a traditional number 10. That's why you see comments saying he's more of a 9 or 7, even though both of those don't fit him. Once he retires I think we'll all just say he was a complete forward... and also had a low defensive work rate. No ill will on the last part, just adding the caveat.
FALSE 9
HE CAN DO BOTH THINGS that NO'9 AND NO.10 DOES
his defensive work rate is low
Roberto Baggio
Sandro Del Piero
Pablo Aimar (Messi's icon)
Rui Costa
Tifo have to explain number. 11 which third best number in football behind 7 and 10
Jude Bellingum, a combination of 10, 9, and 8. makes taclkles and recoveries in the middle, plays line breaking passes, crucial counter attack passses, and finishes of better than most modern strikers.
