    The Nimbus is classed as an Autocycle, but you're right it's effectively the same as a motorcycle with respect to DOT regulation. No helmet needed, can use HOV lane, can lane share where legal.
    I really love this thing. I was following the evolution of the Carver One and Carver EV for years but those are not available in the States, and the Carver EV has a top speed of about 35 mph tops. The Nimbus has the tilting mechanism which looks like fun and can carry two, though I'd love better access to 'cargo' area from the rear (like a mini hatchback). I reserved the One S this morning!

    As a person who has been riding motorcycles for 40 years I love the leaning idea. I'm on the pre-order list. As a past owner of a BMW I3 and current owner of a Tesla Model Y, I'm all in for electric. I'll be using the Nimbus to replace my ice motorcycles.

    • @EVswithKaz
      @EVswithKaz  Год назад

      I think the Nimbus would be a great replacement for an ICE motorcycle, especially for rides around town. Have you had a chance to try an electric motorcycle yet? I would highly recommend going for a test ride. I rode for 5ish years and I really want to get back into it with something electric. They're just so expensive at the moment.

    Hopefully this car will make it to market, perfect for limited street parking like here in San Diego and great to be able to charge in your apt. My apt. manager won't add even a 110 plug for me. Also charging at public chargers can be a challenge as I know with my Ioniq. Really like to rent rather than buy a perfect choice for me being a single senior. My Ioniq lease is up in June of 2024 so keeping my fingers crossed that this will be in full production by then and available in San Diego to rent. Jim

      I hope it'll make it to market too! It's frustrating when apartment managers don't allow for charging options, so hopefully this car will be available for you to rent by the time your lease is up. Good luck and keep your fingers crossed!

    I drove and reviewed both the Arcimoto FUV and Nimbus One a couple of years ago. I liked them both and they seem super practical, especially the Nimbus One with the battery swap feature, but Arcimoto has already thrown in the towel and taken down their website, and those who have made deposits on a Nimbus are wondering if they'll ever get their vehicle. The delivery date keeps getting pushed back, apparently due to a lack of funding. Hopefully they can find a path forward.

    This is the one micro ‘car’ that I think really works. Sure, the Microlino looks sweet, but it is too long to be parked across standard on street parking. And its front door looks easy to block. The Nimbus looks genuinely perfect for cramped cities. But I’d like to see scissor doors to minimise space needed for parking between vehicles.

      We appreciate your interest! We're currently concentrating on fine-tuning the Nimbus One by initially focusing on fleet customers. This strategy ensures that when we begin delivering to our individual pre-order customers, everyone receives the best version of the product, free of any early-stage issues. Our current best estimate for delivering the first vehicles to customers will be sometime in 2024. Information about international deliveries will be available thereafter.

      That’s fantastic news. I’m glad to hear the project is alive and well. Some people were concerned since there was no news on any social media. We really need a product to raise awareness around micro EVs, that not only can they be an alternative to a car but in a lot of cases they will be preferable and even more fun, rewarding and desirable to drive. I feel like the Nimbus 1 could be the product to do that. I love the design and it feels like a no-compromise solution. I would like to see a solar charging system of some sort, either a panel on the roof and/or a standalone panel that can be plugged directly into the Nimbus. This would give a lot of flexibility as to where it is parked and avoid the need to bring the batteries inside to charge.

    I hope it isn't long before we get these in Europe. Many European cities have atrocious traffic, narrow streets, and miniscule parking spaces. And I hope the same permit rules will apply. It makes sense for these to commence as rental vehicles while the public gets used to the idea, mechanics can learn how to fix them and infrastructure can build up.
    Any information about which musical instruments will fit in the back would be well received. Getting close to your gig or rehearsal really matters when you have heavy gear.

    Watched a few videos on this vehicle, and I do agree it would be awesome to get around town with it and do quick errands.
    Whether I am interested in this type of vehicle remains to be seen. I am looking at other EV vehicles to see if they fit my needs for next year.
    Yes, I am both confident and scary how this Nimbus corners never riding a motorbike. I do ride bicycles but that is no comparison to the Nimbus.
    How is the Nimbus far as locking it up and security if we leave it parked somewhere and doing shopping???
    Worried about theft protection on the Nimbus????

    • @EVswithKaz
      @EVswithKaz  Год назад

      From what I remember of the prototype, it locks just like a car. I think it would be harder to steal than a motorcycle but if someone's determined, I supposed they could get a couple people to pick it up and put it in a van.

    The Nimbus is priced at $10,000 so it doesn’t need any tax credit to my opinion.. And if You rent one for about $200 a month that’s also quite ok.. 😉
    To drive it like a motorcycle seems to be a lot of fun.. 🖖🏻😎

    • @EVswithKaz
      @EVswithKaz  Год назад

      I also think not having the tax credit isn't a big deal. From my other videos with Aptera, there were quite a few comments about how it wasn't a car so I just wanted to cover my bases 😄 I really hope they can maintain that $200 a month price when/if they make it to production.

    They need to make sure the home battery chargers can't catch fire, which has been a growing problem with e-bikes. Get a bunch of people with chargers in their apartments and it's a serious concern.

    • @popeyegordon
      @popeyegordon Год назад

      This will not be a cut throat priced Walmart ebike, it is in the electric car category meaning better engineering. There are more battery fires than charger fires with cheap ebikes and scooters. The outside charger system is the same as any other small electric car. The indoor charger is a unit that holds multiple batteries in one rack. None of those cheapo ebikes were tested to the degree of this autocycle which has to pass US highway safety standards. It takes years to complete the testing.

    It "is" nothing but hype. Sounds good but it will never make it to market. No more real than the Elio. If they can show that they've raised at least $20 million for a production line, then I might give them the benefit of the doubt, but so far no evidence that they have anything more than a running prototype.
