One of the hardest bikes to start I’ve ever owned in my entire time of racing and just trail riding along with my 84 Honda cr500.
Those big bores can be tough to start - they get harder the more tired you get too
My mate had yz 465 registered on the road back in the 80s . It had two speeds scary as hell and stop.

That "air hammer " sounds healthy! The question is...did Yamaha make a bad decision by keeping the 490 air-cooled? They sold a lot of them and guys won on them. Hakan Carlqvist in 83...comes to mind. Hard to say on that one.
Well I like em! Sounds real healthy this one!! Be great with a little work! I reckon for most riders these are easier to handle than the CR & KX!
