I've been listening to the Beatles since early December, 1963, when I heard the upcoming single, I Wanna Hold Your Hand b/w I Saw Her Standing There, on a KOMA radio call in spot called "A Hit or a Miss", where callers rated new songs, KOMA was a "50,000-watt" station (the maximum allowed for AM-radio in the US), in Oklahoma City. We lived in Grand Junction CO, 795 miles away, on the other side of the Rocky Mountains, making listening a challenge, subject to clouds, winds, and the variables of an old-fashioned, full-sized, tube-style Zenith radio.
