  • Air temp is more than just being part of the ideal gas law or a your Ecu's fuel model. It will alter EGT, AFR if no correction is applied, the required octane to safely run an engine, and of course power. In this brief discussion we look at a hotpiped supercharger car and what I encountered with it.

Aaron, your videos are probably THE most helpful out there in terms of real life tuning advice, no hidden secrets or paid-for suscription stuff. Thank you sir

Thank you for the wonderful complement. I do my best, fortunately we have a good spread of cars in the shop to offer unique tech. Your guys' suggestions helps as well.

Good info, People don’t grasp how fuel effects IAT so much.
Example I just ran a A2A Vortech 370z on 91. First pull was just over 500whp, it dropped about 30whp each pull after that just due to IAT and the heat-soak

It's an overlooked part of tuning for most people. Glad you have real world examples to provide as well. Thank you :)

Lots of good info here! Never thought of the iat lag time though looking at my logs it’s completely obvious. Seems like I need to watch the egt video as well cause I get a spike in ect after the track and I bet I’m just pulling to much timing like you mentioned. Thanks for all the tips. Ps got your 1% wiseco pistons from a friend, for my next J35 swap. They are amazing 😎

Awesome. I can't wait to see it all come together. Our guy at Wiseco, Jeff, designed them after pro mod style pistons.

@@AaronONeal1 Lower end will start going together in a few weeks once I get back from Florida. Then to the upper end, I’ve been eyeing those p2r cnc’d heads, but not really sure they are needed for my 1000hp goal. Do you run them on your new setup or are you still hand ported?

@@soullesssol7285 I'm still using the hand ported heads from Huy at Inline Racing in Texas. Heads definitely help though for making power at lower boost, same as the correct cams will help.

what if i can manipulate the air temperature reading??does it effect the performance too?

if you manipulate it electronically it doesnt fix the problem but anything you can do mechanically to lower it will help. Bigger intercooler, more direct outside air to the filter and inlet pipe, meth injection, etc.

Hi I would really appreciate your input. I have been having an issue for almost a year and haven't been able to enjoy my car. I supercharged my dodge challenger and i have had misfires and engine shaking and occasional stalling. After the tune, the air temp sensor was not in the intake even though it was plugged in. It wasn't plugged thru the hole and was not reading the temp. If they tuned it with the temp sensor hanging out but still plugged in (thereby reading the outside air temp) would that cause the symptoms? Thank you for your help.

It wouldn't be correct but I am not sure it would cause those issues. It would still be reading the temp in the engine bay, so it would be using it for some fuel/spark calculations. You are describing something that sounds like the wrong sparkplugs at the wrong gap possibly. Hard to Diag virtually, I take it the shop that tuned it wasn't interested in looking at it?
