Ahh okay. Real nice repair work there. Never seen this done.. so when I saw the heads after the welding was done I was like O___O not a good repair. But then after the final clean up .. wow. And the fact that its a racer and still running strong, well thats the proof of the repair job

    Excellent repair there.
The fact aluminum is so repairable it makes sense to run these heads.
I guess my question is......for the repair work we saw you have done here, what would that cost someone to have done?
    Thanks,
    Rob

lol I was also thinking like that, then I recalled a time a couple pistons shattered in my street rod; (too much boost) and some bits banged around in the chambers till the engine locked up. It looked a lot like that right there. lol

Nice work. I wonder what happened... it looks like each cylinder ate a nut while the motor was running.

That weld porosity is going to load up with carbon - probably fine but could cause hot spots and detention issues.

It is only visual but it would be good if you get the filler rod grade closer to the grade of the cylinder head.
I do a lot of this type of work so for me it is really important to consider this as customers and also myself are very fussy.
Thanks for the video, and from the positive comments looks like there could be a few possible customers out there for you.

So, I gotta wonder, how did you get the profile.
Those curvatures are almost organic, not straight-forward simple radai... all kinds of screwed up.
I have 3 and 4 axis, 5 axis on the way, but probably too small for a head.
    Beautiful work!
    Thanks,
    Mark

You can't weld cast aluminum because the different heat properties of the weld and the coasted aluminum, max last for 500 miles and have an other crack by the weld. Cracked heads has to be replaced always. Thanks 4 you guys we have more big jobs, thanks a lot.

It seems like they cracked some valve springs at high rpm in the past. Could those springs been dumped somehow to avoid them to vibrate and crack in the future? Any way, great work!

Good job there! did you cnc milled the combustion chambres, or was that done with a hand-tool? if cnc milled, how did you get the shape exactly the same? (some kind of digitalizing proces like that 'centroid porting' thing?)

@Xceldyne Would you be able to do that with cast iron cylinder heads? I know I know, most guys just junk the cast heads once they crack, but I have a numbers matching vehicle in which I need to keep numbers matching, and I can't find a head to replace it anywhere. If you did the cast iron, what technique would you use, weld, or braze? Thanks for any info you can share in advance...

looks like a valve dropped into the cylinder sat ontop of the piston and mashed up the head maybe a broken timming belt as the damage is on most of the cylinders.
