Umm... These masking tapes has really less sticky adhesive on them and will hardly stick on a surface if it doesn’t favor it. And no, nor do these tapes leave residue on the pcb. I guess you have different kind of masking tape on your place.

I just received my M1 and it looks like the JST connector issue has been fixed. they have a new chassis that has the M1 logo machined into the bottom like the M2 and the channel for the JST connector has been widened.
Im thinking of buying a m1 but only have a budget of 200 so i think its better to wait for sales. Do u know which months there might be some sales on m1 or just keyboard stuff in general? And do you know if this issue will be fixed with monsgeek? if so do u have a estimate lke 6 months or so?
Unless you have to pay a lot of tax charges to bring it, you can easily build a M1 with 200$. And about the sales, It's very less likely there will be one soon since this is a fairly newly launched product. Ans lastly abou the connector issue, according to the monsgeek staffs from discords, they are working on it and will publish a V2 of it soon.
@@notsonabil i might wait till they release v2 since the board it self is 125$ with shipping. do you have a estimate when they will release it? or is it unknown atm. Edit: i see that they making a wireless m1 in march this probaly means it will be fixed but also more expensive since its wireless. Well ill just wait and see

I prefer painter's tape like the MTX than masking tape because it can strip-off your switch sockets due to strong adhesives.

yes the newly released ones have the jst issue fixed after several complains. This vid was dedicated to the early buyers like me pre-march ones!
I noticed they placed rg+b on the side of the pcb, possible for a led strip. Is it possible to solder rgb lights on it?
Probably yes but better contact monsgeek support for this imo.

Try Akko keycaps and switches. They have some pretty good tactile and linear.

You can get akko switches and gmk clone keycaps or akko keycaps within 50-60$ so dw, It's easy to build uner 200
