Do you mind if your steak has been frozen or not?
To be totally 100% honest, I'm not going to say which one you got wrong, but one place you mentioned as never frozen actually came in 100% frozen. I know this because I am great friends with their former GM, who's now retired. No I don't mind at all on steaks as long as they've been properly cryovac'd. I also prefer wet aged over dry. I guess all this stuff is 100% subjective and there are valid arguments for frozen or fresh. Happy Holidays, AWESOME channel
Don't want a frozen steak, I buy my steaks from our local butcher. Expensive but the by!
Best

No. It doesn’t matter in the least.
"Alpine" steakhouse in Sarasota? I live here and I've never eaten there! Sad when you think about it. I guess I've got to up my game from The Hob Nob! Locals will get that one. Gotta run! I'm off to Switzerland to eat at "The Beachcomber!"
Manny's steak house in Minneapolis, used to go there often when in town for Vikings games, it was top notch! Have not been there since the riots, hope it's still doing good!
I was a weekly regular at the original Morton's of Chicago starting way back in 1979. I ate there 6 times per month minimum for probably 20 years running. Early on, to me it was the ultimate in fine steakhouses. Great Prime beef, a small and simple array of sides (huge) and a few very decent appee's. Once Arnie and Hans sold it, I personally thought the quality went down. Not by a lot, but certainly enough to notice. When the latest owner bought it, IMO, the quality went down another notch. This is just my personal opinion. I stopped going there and won't go back. Besides they closed the original several years ago, the one on the basement of 1050 N State. That was a classic for a very long time. These days, with prices being so silly at high end steak houses, we cook it at home either on the Weber over hardwood, or under our 1200 degree infrared broiler. If we don't feel like cooking, but want steak, we choose Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn. Nope they ain't Morton's or Ruth's Chris, but guess what, they're still really good steaks and you don't get gouged. This is just my opinion. Outback was good, but the company that owned all the franchises in our area went bellyup years ago and I haven;t seen a new one open since. Overall, if I want high end it's Ruth's hands down these days, but that's rare.
@user-fv5yo5fi5c 1975 or thereabouts I was in Chicago for a trade show and a friend took me to George Diamonds which he said was a Chicago landmark. Best steak I've ever eaten..
@@rtflone Yes indeed, it was a very long running house of great steaks. Sadly, it was outdated and not popular with the business associates I took to Morton's so often. I never had the chance to try it. I've heard many people say they served the best Ribeye in Chicago. Sadly, the restaurant burnt down in 2006. Another classic from that era was Eli's Steakhouse. Eli being the same guy who started Eli's Cheesecake, which is still a huge business today. I ate at Eli's twice. Both times with my senior partner from NYC. It too was a classic. Thanks for sharing your memory of George Diamond's. Happy Holidays
Thank you for your novel.
@user-fv5yo5fi5c - Good review by you. When I lived in Manhattan my most memorable steak houses were Peter Luger and Smith & Wollensky. Those were the days back in the 1970's and 80's. Now I'm retired in rural NH where the best steak is what I cook myself.
Great written review, and I have seen this through out my life, if that you fine a great place to eat at, and then bam its sold to another owner and then the place goes to hell in a hand basket, its called greed, new owners come in and just see dollar signs, not service, not quality and in the end run the business into the ground by over charging and well just being a crappy business.
Nice !!!!
Longhorn's is my favorite. Always excellent.
I don't know if this is just me and my wallet but seems like Outback's price is getting nearer and nearer to Ruth's. If i had more dollar to splurge, i would skip Outback and directly to Ruth
Pretty sure Palm Steakhouse doesn't freeze their steaks.....
Texas De Brazil is pretty awesome
I went to Mortons online and put the perfect meal into my basket... absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the price came to $180 before tax and tip. So, I could only salivate over the food pictures... maybe in another lifetime. The steak I chose was a 22oz bone-in Chicago-style rib eye for $72 plus all my sides with no beverages or desert ($180).
if it’s bone in it’s not a ribeye. it’s just a rib steak.
@@Duckman75 Morton's calls it a "Bone-In Chicago Style Rib Eye". That's their name.
@@jacksak u can call it Harry but if it’s got a bone it’s not a ribeye. Ribeye, Rib steak, rib steak bone in.
@@Duckman75 Fortunately you have clarified the meat minutia when it comes to rib eye steak. I feel much better now, and if I have more meat questions I'll look you up to avoid meat cut panic.
Probably not real Kobe. Kobe exports are extremely limited and I think less than 50 steakhouses actually have a Japanese supplier
Big Ed's Bird City Ks., Greek Brothers El Campo Tx.
Wolfgang's was not mentioned. Anyone know if they freeze their steaks?
Not sure about all Wolfgangs but the one in Oahu Hi is not frozen they jave a locker where they hang their steaks to age but its not frozen and you can see it when you walk in
What about Victoria and Alberts in Walt Disney World in Florida?
No man, they had that much better Steakhouse at the Yacht and Beach Club. Victoria and Alberts isn't a steakhouse either. The only thing I truly loved at Victoria and Alberts was the way they did the coffee service after dinner. Never saw anything quite that cool.
*If it isn't a frog leg then it simply isn't a frog leg* I wanna a darn frog leg
I like saltgrass steakhouse
Never going to another Texas Roadhouse ever again. I prefer to be able to have a conversation in an environment where I don't have to shout over the music playing at ear damaging levels. If I want a quality steak, I get better at the same price at our local meat processor that has 28 day dry aged and cook it myself.
Don’t go on the weekend. I love TRH
The one time I went to Texas Longhorn, yes, it was so loud, I couldn’t hear myself think. And I didn’t much like the steak either.
@@patriciaanzelc5386 TRH is loud all the time, but then so is your average Ruth's Chris or Mortons, sans the country music. I'd take TRH steak over a Morton all day every day now. Ruth's though, still hard to beat even at 50000 a steak...LOLOL
I heard "Outback" and stopped it. Give me a break.
Outback lovers are the same people that think Olive Garden is Italian food….
It literally doesn’t matter, and, in fact, it’s arguable that steak is better from frozen
Outback simply doesn't taste as good as Longhorn i-- my exprerience at a similar price point.
:O
I will never go back to Texas Roadhouse. They are unapologetically racist, and proud of it.
I hate Ruth Chris. I had the worst meal ever there. Steak was like baked awful
I would have to agree not having had Ruth Chris there's only a couple ways to cook a steak and both involve lump charcoal or a high grade pellet on a smoker reverse seared.
Outback Steakhouse more affordable? In what world? It’s just another overpriced, poor value, poorly cooked slophouse.
Wow. Hate Outback much? Haven’t been in years, but last time I went, I thought it was just fine for the price.
So where is your Go To that's not overpriced, a good value, & non slop?
@@larrycleary9987 My back yard and/or kitchen. All the good restaurants are out of my price range. But Bobby Van's in Washington, D.C. sometimes gets a visit....when I feel like taking the wife out for nice meal. But also, a local Looney's Pub has a Wednesday special for prime rib that's pretty darned good....and it's big enough to feed both of us. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, comes with two sides. We can get out of there paying only $25....drinks are extra.
As far as major chains, they're all either poorly cooked or very expensive.
Though I haven't been in years, I used to like Outback, but apparently their prices are up, but the quality isn't. Used to be good for the money. (I've never cared much for the bloomin onion.)
@@LyleFrancisDelp so that was years ago ,who cares. Did u check current prices????

Flemings and Delmonico's uses frozen steak?
Fleming's does not, I don't know about Delmonico's, but I would guess not also.
@christianschunmann4387 I know, Delmonicos uses fresh too, it was more of a sarcastic comment the fact that they were not listed in the video.
