There will be test plugs under the hood next to the power distribution box on the right hand side. Behind the power box there will be 2 plugs. A bigger plug and a smaller 1 hole plug. You have to take a paper clip and jump it between the small 1 hold plug and the top right hand hole on the bigger plug. If i could show you a diagram i would. Kinda hard to explain tho. I dont want you to mess anything up. Its veryyyy easy tho. I told you to concept, now just search for the diagram.

Its been a long time since ive posted this video, and yeah i sorta did get the problem solved. Recently ive replaced the o2 sensor and now the truck is running better with no more engine stumbling shortly after startup and also the check engine light has been off for quite some time now. I hope it has solved the problem, cause so far everything seems to be running ok. The jumping pins is easy, paper clip to top right trapezoid shape plug, and other small single plug. You can find link, search it

If you get vacuum at the EGR at idle, replace the charcoal canister purge valve. If you get oxygen sensor running rich codes, replace the MAP sensor.

i have a 94 ranger w/ a CEL on. I would buy a Haynes manual, it tells you what the codes mean.
From what i can tell your codes are-:111,172,222,173.
Mine says it is the primary ignition coil , so I changed both. Did not fix it. I still have the CEL, and the truck seems as if it has no power, and a slight noticable change in gas mileage too.

No problem, if you have any trouble let me know, I have a manual that I could look at to get the code definition for ya!

Well I found out how to the pull the codes and I'm getting a 224 which is primary coil, though when I checked both boils for spark both 2 and 3 don't spark on both coil... so it's more than likely it's the ICM or ignition control model. AFM and TPS test fine, no spikes in voltage on those.

Did you ever resolve the problem. I just picked up a 94 2.3 and it runs fine for a few miles then loss of power. it does have a rough idle. I'm thinking a bad EGR valve and EGR solenoid they are on order. Also there is a EGR position sensor, I may replace that also. I need a link with a diagram showing what pins to jump to pull the DTCs (codes).

DaytonCarCare Replace the charcoal canister purge valve if you get vacuum at the EGR at idle. If you get oxygen sensor running rich codes, replace the MAP sensor. The CTS can cause rich codes. If the timing mark flutters, it's the module.

I meant "coils" not "boils" lol

+timefink1 I know its been a long time since answering this question, but ive been away for awhile. My truck is doing fine, ended up getting the problem solved. The truck runs great, i sold it to a fellow buddy of mine. He has been using it and i still see it on the road. Its running good. Thanks for asking!
