  • Is it finally time for a Multicade in the Mancave Arcade?
In this video, I talk about my interest in the Atgames Legends Ultimate, my likes and dislikes of the product, my plans for most of my Arcade1Up cabs if I were to buy an ALU, and why I've changed my tune on bringing in a multicade into the Mancave Arcade.
Hope you enjoy the video, and thanks as always, for watching.

    Steve V.
Ultimately, it comes down to what's right for you and I think its smart to plan that way. I think that's what makes your setup so appealing to watch. And if you're like me, the arcades I frequented back when I was younger, machines were always going in and out. I think change is part of a great arcade experience. At the end of my Video Game Vegas Arcade video, I show the evolution of my arcade. Games come and go, and I don't know if I'll ever get to a place where I go, "That's it, perfection!"
I have a few multicades in my home arcade, because it would be unrealistic to have cabinets for each game (at least for me). And yes, most of mine look like the machines I remember back in the day. My Rec Room Masters machine is skinned like Berzerk, My Arcademodup is their version of Donkey Kong, which looks amazing to the eye, my Neo Geo MVSX, which was soft modded to include the entire Neo Geo Arcade library, my soft modded Arcade1Up Attack From Mars with over 100 tables. And I guess if we're really getting down to brass tax, my iiRcade has always been technically a multicade, and now that the company has gone out of business, Glen, from Glen's Retro Show plans to release his new control deck for it with spinners, trackball, 8 to 4 way joystick gate switchers, and even possibly adding the ability to add more games to it. Yeah, multicades are a good complement to any home arcade, in my opinion, and from everything I've heard, the AtGames Legends Ultimate is a good choice, especially since you'd only have to soft mod it to get more games, which AtGames includes that mod on the cabinet!
I love seeing the evolution of your home arcade, and I'm looking forward to see what's next!
    Have a great one!

Yeah I’ve purchased about 12 A1up cabinets and sold 4 to upgrade to the newer form factors . After researching the ALU and finding the One Sauce community.
I sold 8 of them and my ALU now has thousands of games . I did keep my core A1up cabinets like KI and my MK deluxe etc .

That will probably be my plan if I end up getting an ALU in the future. I'll keep my core 5 or 6 A1Up and then have the ALU. Haven't pulled the trigger yet as I might wait to see the New ALU first. If the price is right, I might get that. Will see

@@SteveVsManCaveArcade I got my cabinet right after the whole Firmware problem. I’m running the stock factory Firmware . My one sauce works great . Having all the Sega , SuperNintendo and PS 1 games is fantastic. So many choices now . Glad I pulled the trigger . Good with your decision.

Love my nostalgia a1up, with that said spending min $8000 on all the cabs I want doesn't interest me anymore, I too have just started looking at ugly Atgames 😂 to use as multicade and just go with special a1up I am right there with u on edge and think in next few months after new 4k release just to see what it's all about great vid bro !

Hey Steve... good video. Returned two different versions of the ALU over the years due to quality concerns right out of the box... from monitor bleed to flimsy side panel decals. Buyer beware with all these expensive, cheap Chinese made products. In my opinion definitely not worth $1,000. The Korean made iiRcade was the exception to this rule but sadly they are no more. I too have a basement full of these various products so I understand your dilemma. Just don't talk yourself into thinking the quality of the Atgames products are any better than the 1up's. Best of luck to you!

Appreciate the heads up. Your situations make me alittle nervous now. It's so expensive here in Canada I just want to make sure I'm getting what I'm paying for. Definitely going to do my research before I pull the trigger. Thanks @bp1208

@@SteveVsManCaveArcade respectfully he's had some bad luck and I don't blame his opinion. Having had 4 Arcade1ups and the ALU though, my god they're miles apart in build quality. The ALU sticks, buttons, size, monitor size, amount you can do with it just blows away A1ups! Also, I'm in Canada as you can tell by my profile pic lol. I was in the hospital last year and needed to sell my ALU to get by, but I'm going back to an ALU in the next month or so.

@sinizin Sorry to hear about your situation last year. Hope everything is on the up in up for you this year.
Appreciate your insight and experience with the ALU. Most of what I've heard about the ALU is very similar to what you said. I'm definitely interested in looking more into the ALU

I have 4 ALU's, 3 Fullsized ALU's all with Bitlcd's and the buystuff 5 inch risers, the ALU Mini has a 6" riser as well. I do not have the audio delay mentioned in the comments, not sure what his problem is. I have a 1.1 and 2 1.2 cabinets. All my cabinets have upgraded kicker DS speakers and 4lb joystick springs, I love my ALU's and ALP's, the ALU's with BitLCD are really slick and all work great, no issues, when I have had a problem support got me going with firmware upgrades and I was good. A1ups are just too small for me at 6'5" and with the buystuff risers the ALU's are perfect size. I like the look of the ALU, the lights are out, marquee is on, I am looking at the screen not making love to the side art. Lets not forget I stream to my ALU's wirelessly sing LegendsLink from my gaming PC, steam games, RUclips ect. I also stream games from their servers over cloud BYOG.

I dont blame you one bit, all of your games in one spot/ save more space/ higher quality parts = WIN!
What are your top cabs you want to keep?
Unfortunately Iircade is going out of business, and that was my multicide. Not sure what im going to do with it....keep it and just paly the games as is OR wait for a Light Gun box to come out from Buy Stuff or something like that.

As far as cabs I would keep if I get the ALU it would probably be these 8 Class of 81, Midway Legacy, Capcom Legacy, GoldenTee, Big Buck, Ridge Racer, TMNT, NBA Jam. I would also keep my Vpin. As time goes on, I'll part with 2 more to get it down to 6.
As far as iiRcade goes, I feel Glen and Buy Stuff Store will keep the life line going for that cabinet for a while. Disappointing that there closing shop but there's great people that will make that cab a must have cause of the mods

Good luck with the ALU. I have one, a 1.1 series, but it has about an half second delay between action and audio, unless you play the pinball games on it. You're probably used to that delay, from your older A1ups (2018), which had that problem. I'm hoping the newest release of the ALU won't have that issue, since it has a newer hardware, and software architecture. It's not a bad machine. I have CoinopsX, and many of the pinball games for it. It's my go-to machine, when I have the arcade room shut off, most of the time, lately, to conserve cabinet longevity. I really should do what you're doing. At my age, there will come a time when living situations will not permit a big, honkin' mancade. LOL If that day ever comes, I intend to keep my digital pinball table, the iiRcade, and the ALU.

I want to put a coin door on the front panel of the arcade game where the names of some of the games are. Can you tell what the thickness size of the panel is so i know what screws and washers to buy? Is it 1/2 inch thick or 1/4 inch thick?

    • @SteveVsManCaveArcade
      @SteveVsManCaveArcade  5 месяцев назад

That I don't know since I still haven't bought one. Sorry I'm not much help. I do agree that a coindoor would look great on the front. Maybe even flip the panel around if it's all black on the other side. Give it a more clean look

I thought about that as well. I wish some one can tell me what the thickness is so I can buy the screws and washers for it

ME: before I buy a new Main PCB how do I know it's not the LCD?
ALU: no way to test without a new main PCB.
ME: Ok it's still not working how much now for a new LCD?
ALU: oooowe don't sell replacement LCD's
ME: man this sucks this was a gift for 600 bucks.

Check out a 60 in 1 icade PCB or a free program called MAME think about building your own multicade that will blow the ALU away for half the price. @@SteveVsManCaveArcade
