Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a turn-based survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Struggle to survive in a harsh, persistent, procedurally generated world. Scavenge the remnants of a dead civilization for food, equipment, or, if you are lucky, a vehicle with a full tank of gas to get you the hell out of Dodge. Fight to defeat or escape from a wide variety of powerful monstrosities, from zombies to giant insects to killer robots and things far stranger and deadlier, and against the others like yourself, that want what you have…

This is probably my new favorite episode of the series. The addition of two characters has really expanded the sorts of situations melafera can get into, and I love the banter between the characters. Can't wait for the next one!

Was literally just thinking about this series! For some reason when I was washing the dishes I started thinking of that fight when you played the Parasite Eve music, and I was like, "Too bad it will probably be a while before another episode comes out." And then here we go!

Great episode as usual! I got into CDDA because of this series which has helped me a lot to realize the amount of danger Mel gets into (and survives!) It really puts into perspective how much of a tough cookie she is.

the self role play done here (basicly writing now that im thinking about it) just makes me sad that cdda CANT be ported to multiplayer because of how the game is set up. Guess we will just have to wait for zombiod to come out for that.

Didn't mean to leave everyone hanging so long, but I have had to move suddenly and that's really taken over my life. Should be back to editing in a couple of days.
The only thing i dislike about this series are the frequent ups and downs. (The only down is having to wait for another stellar episode again ;-;)
Found you via your Fear and Hunger story videos. Have essentially no experience with Cataclysm, so this series is very interesting. I’ve been listening to it podcast style while at work the passed few day. Keep up the excellent work!
hey wormgirl, thanks so much for making this series its very fun i really like the naritive, but thank you even more so for the hidden punk lore, i never knew of the fastbacks, but they're music is really fun and really good, and i've kinda begun an exploration of "older" punk culture which i've found really revealing and informative. This is such a fun topic and story please don't stop making it, but even if you do know that you've influenced at least one person to get more in touch with previous progressive movements to stay in more solidarity with their previous bearers of the liberationary torch ^^

You're character's stories is much more engaging than what I do, mindlessly slaughtering zombies that block my way without care.
Love your narration style and content, keep up the great work!Your tutorials were also really good at helping me get started in CDDA (soooo many keybinds 😂). If you haven’t already, you should take a look at Project Zomboid. It’s a challenging isometric zombie apocalypse survival game with a heavy focus on crafting and real time combat. It’s not as complex as CDDA, but its core gameplay is solid.

I am suffering the pain of reaching the release horizon of a series. Specifically this one.
You know i've heard of this game before and tried it out but found the attempt to be too confusing for me, but I was pretty interested in what happened next in your playthrough, ill have to give the rest of this series a watch!
The wood axe is a good intermediate/late game weapon
I prefer longswords for the fighting styles you can add but for brawling is a great weapon

I have not gotten too far into the multiple characters quest lines that you find at the shelter in my play-through. I’m interested to see which ones your gang will prioritize.
Tried to relax and have this on in the background but I kept giggling at all the witty banter. Great video

I aspire to this level of narrative cohesion and character! Great stuff per usual. Any tips for trudging through writer's block?
Hunter S. Thompson used to sit down at a typewriter and copy The Great Gatsby word for word to warm up until it got his brain into the mode he wanted. I've had luck doing things like that, or just randomply typing out whatever free associative nonsense popped into my head for a half hour. Doesn't have to make sense or even mean anything, just so long as you're going through the motions. Eventually your brain will catch up and start writing for real.

He just reveryed my carefully researched photosynthesis update, too. Apparently 300 kcal for a fully evolved plant mutant spending 12 hours in the summer sun is too much. Makes you wonder how irl fruit trees produce thousands of kcal of food in a season.
hello worm girl! have you heard of Felvidek? it's a historic-fantasy rpgmaker game set in 15th century Slovakia made by some indie devs. it's about an alcoholic knight fending off the ottomans. it's funny and kinda gives Hylics vibes and I thought you might like it.

My favourite series
Now that you've got more folk to take care of, would it be wise to retrieve that bed you found behind a window in an earlier episode? I know you got 2 mattresses, but wouldn't one more be better than the armchair? (I'm not sure. I've never played CDDA, just vibin') Oh you never went back for that fur to make your bow quieter either.
It turns out the fur dampening kit only works on primitive bows. I do need to go out and round up a bunch of stuff I've left behind though, like Nestor's rifle on his home island, and some beds would be a great idea!
I eagerly await the next installment. ♥

Never heard of this game, and it looks so complex I'll probably never play it, but so far I unironically prefer watching this series to the Walking Dead.

I am. Had to deal with a move and now I'm mired in a long video project, but I'm getting toward the finish line and then it's more Mel.
That bit about Politics and Twitter had me laughing my butt off! Kinda curious if any dialogue you write is ever inspired by something characters say in game?
Sometimes. I try to get a read on the character by looking at their starting gear, their loadout, their demographic, and their quest. Kirk struck me as a gamer type, but his age, his intellectual leaning, and focus on social skills made me picture sort of a nerdy anarchist or revcom type. Nestor is a doctor with high intelligence who worked at a mine and wears cowboy boots. Educated, 40s, and blue collar - that reads libertarian to me. Of course that's stereotyping, but these aren't real people, and I don't think I'm making fun of anyone really.
Randomly generated survivors also come with random backstories you can chat with them about. I may check those out and use them to flesh the boys out as we go.

Now I've got to go look up '10 Cool Things About Being A Ring Bearer' in the C:DDA JSON. I suspect it has nothing to do with Tolkien and everything to do with light romantic comedy.
Google says it's a real book! It's for kids who are going to be the ring bearer in weddings.
@@mutantwormgirl That...makes sense, oddly enough. I'm guessing that the others in the nonfiction books JSON are either real books or had just enough serial numbers filed off to make them plausibly deniable.
