Liza is so amazingly brave to do this performance for kander & ebb. This was just after her vocal surgery. She's truly a genuine soul.
Now THAT was a production. Great.
The original production of Chicago in 1975 got mixed reviews because it was way ahead of it's time. The 1996 smash hit revival got rave reviews. One critic wrote, "This is one of the great Broadway shows of all time. What were we thinking 20 years ago!?"

Well, the problem was when CHICAGO opened in the 70s it was up against another new, unusual musical; A CHORUS LINE,
But, since the revival in the 90s it has played continuously on Broadway. My dream came true when I saw Bebe in the show.
Nobody works harder than she does. Roxie Hart is the lead character but I salivated over every note and step of Bebe’s Velma Kelly.❤️

Bebe Neuwirth is a teriffic performer UNTIL she has to share a stage with Chita, who is 30 years older than she is and still blows her right out of the water.
Good Lord, what magic moments. Chita, Bebe, Liza...and the forever music of Kander and Ebb. I'm in total awe of the talent on that stage!!! (and in the audience)
Both Bebe and Chita sound so amazing individually. But when they did it together, it sounded like a cat was shrieking. I think it's because they have a different way of singing. Chita is one and only but I personally think Bebe was holding back. But this was really amazing.

I've seen both Bebe & Chita and they are both amazing! I have met both ladies and they are both class acts. Chita is beyond a star and she can still outshine anyone. It is no slight to Bebe's talent, Chita is in a league of her own.

For what it's worth, I think Bebe Neuworth did a great job here. Most dancers can't keep up with Chia Rivera, never mind look reasonably classy doing so.
