Hi Great video, I just got my first autograph print and can already feel the itch of wanting more. Glad I found this video to help me prepare for my future ahead.
Thanks so much. Looks like I’ll be getting a art profolio. I have had some of my autographs in top loaders for years. Pulled a couple out and surprisingly nothing was smudged. Also is keeping the autographs in container tubs a ok idea?
Hello, I wanted to ask is would my autographs still be good if they were still in a top loader? I have my autographs In a 8.5×11 top loader (the pictures are 8×10.) And I have them in a safe. Would they still get damaged in the top loaders?
It is not guaranteed that they will be damaged overtime in a top loader but it is a higher possibility that they will. I would recommend an art portfolio, like Itoya, to store them in and then put them in the safe
Hey, great video. Do you have advice on how to prevent autographs on playmats from fading? I got a pokemon playmat that’s not signed with a permanent marker and is vulnerable to fading away. Thanks
@BrandaoCollection thank you, I was just confirming because of the scanner flashing light or just light flashing in general. Also, to get the correct resolution and quality, I didn't know if the scanner played a big role in duplicating a high-quality copy of your autograph. Thanks again
Great video! Would love if maybe you could show us a separate video as to how you scan the autographs. Perhaps also showing the type of scanner used. I would love to scan my collection and start hanging them up but not sure what the best way is especially for 16x20 autographs.
Sorry for the late response! I keep my Itoya binders upright. Similar to books on a bookshelf. That way, they don't have the pressure from the binders on top.
Great vid. Do you have any tips or suggestion on types of glass to protect autographed pictures? I’m trying to make my own mats/frames but can’t find helpful consistent information about glass online. I see some talk of UV Conservation glass and Museum glass, and was wondering if you use anything like that.
I personally display copies of my autographs so I just use regular frames But I have friends that use UV glass with mattes to protect their framed pieces You can always by a cheaper frame and then the UV glass separate as well
I personally don't collect signed cards but I do have some friends that do. I recommend this guide from SWAU - www.starwarsautographuniverse.com/blogs/blog/2019-10-11-getting-your-trading-cards-ready-to-be-signednbsp
WOW, very informative & excellent protection guide. Gave this video a like and well deserved thumbs up! I do have a question. You mention these recommendations for signatures on posters or pictures. What if the autograph is on an index card? Can it be stored in a card saver or top loader for the LONG TERM, based on the ink already absorbed into the cardboard paper material?
There isn't a way to remove fingerprints fully without damaging the photo but you can use a microfiber cloth to softly wipe the areas with fingerprints and no autograph
@BrandaoCollection thanks, will definitely try that. I've also read cotton swap with alcohol. And saw video using antibacterial cloth. Any experience with those options?
This is a late comment but I was wondering what you suggest for posters 27x40? I have mine in frames currently but they don’t have mat’s does anywhere offer frames that large with mats?
Sorry for the late response! I would recommend getting a regular poster signed. Depending on the pen type, the autograph may fade over time on a metal surface.
@@BrandaoCollection thank you for reply. I have been using a sharpie pen at Comic-Con since 2021. So far it hasn't faded yet. but however I have decided to get the same autograph signed from the Comic-Con in the future but with the small regular poster just in case as backup. Thank you for replying.
I was going to get a funko pop signed at a comic con I got a paint pen but saw another video on hear saying it can be taken of by a alcohol wipe so was going to get posters signed but if I never took them out the glass would it still be OK? And would the auto fade as the frames come with the border but I chucked them and tbh I would cover the pic if I put a border in it
I have some signed items one being on a photo but I noticed that the ink has not aheared well to the photo I have it in acid free sleeve how can I stop the sharpie coming of the ink is gold and it’s on a semi gloss photo. Help would be great I don’t want to lose it as it’s from someone very special to me. Thank you
I have an autograph which has sadly disappeared due to sun exposure.. there is an imprint in the paper still... are there any methods to get ink back in the imprints again?
There really isn’t a way to preserve autographs on canvas without possible damage But you should be good with canvas since it holds inks very well Just keep liquids and sunlight away
Thank you so much for feedback. Do you have any 16x20 canvas carrying bag recommendations that’s good for travel and autograph protection? I plan to take it with me to many events.
It all depends on the pen used. A paint pen needs 5-10 minutes to dry. For a sharpie, that only needs a minute or two. I wouldn’t leave any signed photo in a toploader for long term though
Slight finger creases would be difficult to remove completely. Stacking some books on the photo temporarily could help with deep creases. No matter what you do, be careful cause any option could possibly add additional damage.
I know I’m super late I really hope you see this but where is the best place to get 11x17 and 27x40 frames where the autograph won’t touch the glass???
I get my frames from Amazon for up to 11x17. I would recommend getting a size up so you can put a matte around the photo so it doesn't touch the glass. For full size posters, Hollywood Poster Frames is great. A bit pricey but definitely worth it especially for autographed posters.

Depending on the climate where you live, the container tubs may do damage if the temperature changes frequently
@@BrandaoCollection thanks. Better get something soon then. Luckily some autographs are still the same after 7 years. Thank you for this video.

Unfortunately, that type of surface doesn't really have a way to preserve an autograph on it. The playmat absorbs the ink over time.
@@BrandaoCollection Ah bummer. Thanks though!
Please help, Just Met Mark Hamill° What type of scanner do you use? Do the lights from the scanner risk any damage to the autograph.
The scanner wouldn't do any damage to the autograph. I use the flatbed scanner of a Brother MFC-J835DW Printer

Great idea! I've been thinking of doing that. I'll definitely put it on the list.
Also, I actually have a copy of secret wars no. 8 certified how much is it worth??
Have you had a problem with photos bending in the itoya binders I had a couple photos get a crease in them

Hollywood Poster Frames is a great option
They make really high quality frames and they have knowledge of signed posters
Hi great video.
I have a question should I get an autograph on my metal displate poster Or just use the normal paper poster ?

I got the Itoya portfolio you recommended. I wish it was hardcover! Does anybody know if they make binders like that?
My itoya portfolio came with black paper in the sleeves, when I’m putting in my autographs should I keep the paper in or take it out?
Keep the paper in the sleeves
It is an extra level of acid free protection for the photos

A standard tube is fine, a 3 inch is ok as well, or a 4 inch but that may be too much.
I always wonder, after getting something signed, how long do I take to ensure ink is dry and place in a toploader or a pop protector??

SWAU has great options with mattes too - swau.com/products/photo-custom-framing
I have a dark closet with led lights when I peek each morning
How do you save an autograph on shoe
Can’t you just use plastic over the front so it doesn’t stick to the top loader?
Putting anything over the autograph directly risks damaging the graph in the long term
