What if your re leveling the house? You don't have to disconnect the chimney right?

I am s specially contractor that does foundation repairs & structural repairs and the total cost to do this has to much much higher than 6K. There would be addition costs to: Extending chimney height, repairing roof around chimney, new flashing. Framing, sub floor and finish flooring around the chimney. Raising things like exterior porches, door stoops, steps etc. Adding to the foundation or building framed filler walls that would require adding more exterior siding and insulation. Septic line, water lines and duct work extensions. Replacing or extending any permanent basemen columns. New basement windows. I’m sure there are still a few things I missed. His price must only be for shoring the basement walls and raising the structure, and 6K sounds a bit low to do that. Also, extending the basement wall will create a horizontal joint or seam, the basements walls may require several interior vertical steel columns from the basement floor to the floor framing to prevent the walls from buckling at that joint.

I live the Pacific Northwest and our houses over here are either sinking from all the rain water or they are small houses. People like to buy up all the small properties and either raise them or add square footage. I am contemplating on lifting and adding a lower level due to the cost of only around 10K plus framing vs adding a whole new extension of around 100K including foundations and all. Cost savings maybe around 40K.

Hi, we seen this video, & need your help. Please contact us. It's for a Lift. A 900sq ft Bungalow, fairly light & small. We were victims of Sandy. We just moved back in the home, but we can find temporary relocation, no problem. Any Architect interested?? My neighbor already did it with Jacks. He bought 60 12-Ton Jacks. But only used 30. He said we can borrow they free. There new. He did it alone in 4 days, & he's 76 years old. He said costed less than $3K , etc.

I've gotta ask -- where you earth do you get jack stands that large? I can't find them anywhere.

What kind of waivers do the lifters make you sign? $6K doesn't sound like a lot for what potentially can go wrong. I'm certain there are a lot more expenses associated before and after the lifting.

great video... although you never detailed how the foundation was extended? is it code to pour additional stem wall or did the company build a short wood wall? or did you just add sill plates to ad to the height of the new basement? Im in a similar scenario and would like to know how you extended the foundation to reach the desired height. Appreciate your work and what a beautiful house!

how does the sill get severed from the foundation? aren't there bolts holding the sills to the foundation? perhaps just running a sawzall to each?

They usually have nuts on em.. the bolts should be big L shaped cemented in the block ..

We raised our house 6' in the early 70s.
A 4' crawl space became a full basement and doubled the usable space. We had to climb up/down a ladder until my mother built stairs and the toilet pipe under the house was connected by an auto tire inner tube while the lifting took place.

@@ivanov568 I never did get the name of it. I suppose that the broadcast here is not really involved with it's audience. I am sure though that there are sources such as a book where anyone can learn about shoring houses. It is a known engineering science. Big heavy stuff with tremendous precision, and caution. You don't second guess it. There is video of a guy who lifted up his son's house for about $3K, and his own labor.

Anyone that is interested in getting their home raised should not take any lessons or any courses. The lessons and courses cannot teach you what experience will show you with time and doing this over and over again repeatedly
Situations like this can cause catastrophic destruction and fatal injuries. Please please please hire a professional that specialize in this industry with a long list of successful elevations for you to do your due diligence in verify prior to hiring the professional.
Furthermore make sure that they are insured and bonded. Not just insured but also bonded.
Home elevations are great to protect against flooding. Or to just add a basement for extra space. But you must bite the buck, and get it done right.
Look for savings on drywall tape and float. But don’t look for savings on elevating your house 🏡 without protecting yourself first. There’s an old saying. If it can’t happen he possibly will happen, and you need to prepare for it.
