Depends on how you view it 😂as a French person, I was sooooo overwhelmed with joy with Leon's winning two hardest distances ever in one evening (well, hardest after 400 IM) 🎉🎉🎉 I'm very happy for Pan though
Look i‘m not saying pan zhanle never took anything, cause i simply dont know, but i hate the assumtpion that when others perform well they must be cheating. Especially the chinese right now. Does accusing others of doping make these people feel better about themselves? If they were at least fair to themselves they would also have to accuse someone like leon marchand of doping, because of how well he is performing. But they hardly do that. And i‘m starting to feel bad for all the chinese athletes that just want to perform their best and have never taken any illegal medications. Anyway love the vids!
Yeah but it makes more sense when you realize that leon marchand hasn't broken world records in paris and nobody else has broken world records due to the pool depth and poor living conditions. Pan getting a world record while nobody else having getting one with china having been exposed for doping in 2021 just gives me a bit of doubt on the legitmacy of it.
But this time he got tested multiples times never get positive even before And he has been around for years Pan Zhanle is the world record holder!! He didn’t came out of nowhere He even has a pic of him and David Popovici together 2 years ago They are good friends
I actually do not think Pan was doping. But your statement is absurd. The reason he has undue suspicion is not becuase the time was fast it’s becuase large quantities of his teammates got caught doping and wada didn’t release it for public scrutiny. Even if it was incidental and wada was correct to let them compete the ambiguity is still there. We have no such evidence of doping of that scale in any other camp. And there is more generalized concerns of state sponsored doping related to more central associations.
@@ducky1951 But Leon is not the current record holder, Pan on the other hand is the current record holder. Even without this olympics he is still the record holder, he simply broke his own record.
I personally think it is just hilarious how fast he was going. The guy just couldn't stop himself. :) When he saw the time you can tell that he realised that he overdid it a little bit. :) And the rest of the swimmers were just laughing it off. :)

That is sports. Leon Marchand was literally nobody in the tokyo olympics three years ago. He just broke several records in just one night. He even failed to qualify in one of the events he broke a record on in the tokyo olympics. It is just hard work paying off. Pan was already a record holder and medalist last year in a lot of world swimming competition that is why he was the favorite to win even though this is his first olympics. Stop with confirmation bias.
I think Phelps' 1:52.03 in Beijing with water-filled goggles is still mind-boggling if you consider it's only 0.8 slower than Marchand's winning time...who knows what his time could've been. Yesterday was an epic day of swimming and will be talked about for years to come.
I agree that Pan broke the 100 meter freestyle record by 46.4 second is humanly impossible because the Chinese hated his opponents so much that he did a super human feat. 😛
Great vlogs Sonny! If I miss a session I just watch your recaps to see what happened! Will be interesting to see what James Magnussen can do next year…
Watching this Olympics swimming games makes me sick. Those western swimmers deliberately celebrate among themselves, avoiding contact with the Chinese medal-winning swimmers in the pool. Why do we need the Olympics if everyone is so hostile to certain groups of people? It reminds me of bullies and mean girls.
In my opinion, this is a once in a lifetime swim session! For a few reasons 1. Marchand's double gold in the 200 fly and 200 breast (the first in Olympic history to win 2 golds in one swim session) 2. Ledecky's 4th consecutive Olympic title in the 1500 free 3. And of course, Pan Zhanle's world record in the 100 free
It was Ledecky’s 2nd consecutive Olympic in the 1500m as that distance has only been on the women’s Olympics schedule twice. She’ll be going for her 4th straight Olympic title in the 800m freestyle later this week.
Leon Marchand just won Gold in 2 events back to back, with barely even 1 hour of rest in between. No one suspects him of doping? Also, this is a 200m event not 100m, on top of that he is swimming the butterfly which is the most tiring and difficult swim stroke. After both events, he barely looked tired during the medals event. No one going to comments on this?? Pan wins 1 event and people are like, he doesn't look tired! He must be doping. Is just funny as fk. And lets be honest, at this level, everyone dopes to some degree. If you ask me honestly I think everyone who finishes top 10 in any swim event is doping. As someone who used to swim in college, I just don't believe you can swim 200m in butteryfly win gold, and then win gold again in 200m breaststroke within 1 hour, without some sort of performance enhancement.
lol first get ur facts right it was a 2h break not barely 1 hour. then have you followed Léon's progress over the past years? either way are you seriously suspecting Bob Bowman's current number 1 swimmer of cheating after all that... all athletes use enhancement of some sorts - Léon certainly didn't use prohibited ones. If you seriously believe this you're spitting right in the face of everything Léon's achieved so far + Bob's entire reputation. The fact that the committee accepted to arrange the schedule to give the longest possible break to Léon certainly did help otherwise he might not have done it.
@@jaxlone997 I am talking about rest you're talking about interval between the two swim. You think Leon is able to rest for 2 hours right after a race? First there is about 15 minute of photos after, then follows a 20 minute interview. After that he still had to attend his own medals ceremony which took at least 10-15 minutes. Only after that can he rest. And before his breast stroke for his finals he probably needs about 15 minute to warm up. So when I say he has 1 hour of rest I am being generous. In reality he probably had about 30 -45 minute.

For those are doubt about Pan still: Since no western media or youtuber will tell you the full story of what happened in 2021 which lead to all this fury, here it goes. >> In 2021 China swimming association held a national gathering, meet of all swimmers in competitive level in a single city. While the swimmers were there, the Chinese Anti Doping Agency (CHINADA) tested all the swimmers 3 times during the duration of the event. They found 23 swimmers with trace amounts of TMZ in 1 of their 3 tests. They promptly started an investigation which determined that the reason only 1 of their 3 tests were positive was because all 23 of these swimmers were staying at the same hotel. Then they checked the kitchen and found trace amounts of TMZ in the meat, in the kitchen counter top and vent hood. All this were reported to WADA. Then WADA did 2 separate investigations of their own which confirmed what was found by CHINADA. So to recap, 1) it was not WADA that did the test but CHINADA, if China wanted to cover it up, they simply could have not reported it at all. No one would be the wiser. 2) The TMZ found was trace amounts and only in their blood test after that meal, their initial blood tests were also completely clear. 3) Pan Zanle was not amongst those 23 swimmers. This whole thing was not an issue until the NY times digged it up and made a stink, then USADA got US congress involved (not sure why since they don't have jurisdiction). Just so everyone will be clear who WADA favors. US pays 10% of WADA budget annually. WADA is based in Canada, has not a single member from China. And, WADA has given last few years, 66% of all Therapeutic Use Exemptions to just 3 countries, USA, France and Australia. Just happens these 3 countries have the most swimming medals. And, all the top US and French swimmer including Leon had severe facial flushing at the end of their race that is a clear side effect of bronchodilators. 4) Most doping tested swim team in Paris was China, that is fact, 6-7 times more than US/Austrilia/Canada/France. And all Chinsese swimmers are clean!

Pan is incredible and awesome. He will be breaking more records. The pool was shallower and actually not suitable.
Subscribed. It’s great to hear a balanced and enthusiastic commentary on swimming. Watching the US media has been very frustrating this year - they’ve only focused on the us athletes and have been really discounting other performances. Looking forward to your analysis tomorrow!
They are deliberately not paying attention to other places. . . The United States has been surpassed by many countries in its traditional strong events. . The news that can excite Americans that the American media can pay attention to will become less and less. .
Of course, they will continue to find faults with athletes from other countries, especially those who are surpassing the United States.

But this time he got tested multiples times never get positive even before
And he has been around for years
Pan Zhanle is the world record holder!! He didn’t came out of nowhere
He even has a pic of him and David Popovici together 2 years ago
They are good friends
When he saw the time you can tell that he realised that he overdid it a little bit. :)
And the rest of the swimmers were just laughing it off. :)
Pan goes under 20 seconds for the 50 Free, I'm calling it right now!
if he goes 20. i have seen it all!

Unbelievable. Need to see previous performances say 2 years ago for that 100 free swim to see that progression to almost unrelenting incredible speed!
Pan is incredible.
Pan blows up the comments... But Sarah Sjöestrom - let's give her the props that swim deserved. Legend doing legendary stuff.
Damn straight

I think Phelps' 1:52.03 in Beijing with water-filled goggles is still mind-boggling if you consider it's only 0.8 slower than Marchand's winning time...who knows what his time could've been.
Yesterday was an epic day of swimming and will be talked about for years to come.

Agreed
David Popovici congratulated Pan for the win and talked to him after the race, he’s a great kid. 🥹
To win by one body length in 100m is crazy😂
Madness
It,s only impossible because the games have never seen such a margin before, but now they've seen it with their own eyes.
In my opinion, this is a once in a lifetime swim session! For a few reasons
1. Marchand's double gold in the 200 fly and 200 breast (the first in Olympic history to win 2 golds in one swim session)
2. Ledecky's 4th consecutive Olympic title in the 1500 free
3. And of course, Pan Zhanle's world record in the 100 free
Yeah this was one of the most epic days in swimming
It was Ledecky’s 2nd consecutive Olympic in the 1500m as that distance has only been on the women’s Olympics schedule twice. She’ll be going for her 4th straight Olympic title in the 800m freestyle later this week.
Pan's record!!

The video mentioned how epic that was as well! I am recapping every night and basically choosing one headline as “clickbait”. I talk about every race!
Leon is unbelievably talented! What a night for swimming ❤
太激励人心了。。来自马来西亚华人的祝福。。。赞👍
If marchand was chinese you know there would be an outrage
🧃🇫🇷
lol first get ur facts right it was a 2h break not barely 1 hour. then have you followed Léon's progress over the past years? either way are you seriously suspecting Bob Bowman's current number 1 swimmer of cheating after all that... all athletes use enhancement of some sorts - Léon certainly didn't use prohibited ones.

Leon Marchand'a final 50m was about desire. You could see his chin jerking forward, straining to win. That was mental more than physical - I think it's a swim which is about the time and place and rising to the moment

For those are doubt about Pan still:
Since no western media or youtuber will tell you the full story of what happened in 2021 which lead to all this fury, here it goes.
So to recap,
1) it was not WADA that did the test but CHINADA, if China wanted to cover it up, they simply could have not reported it at all.
