Any comment on this video refusing to acknowledge how mind-blowing this 46.4 was from Pan Zhanle should be viewed as an absolute joke.
The best way to prove you know nothing about swimming is to not act blown away by this 100 free WR.

10 years ago, record from today were a joke.
China facilities and well being for athletes are world top tier, while western facilities and method become dull and old, maybe that's also play into the fact they do well better than others ??

The anthropometric literature shows that the center of mass in blacks is 3 percent higher above the ground than in whites. This means that blacks hold a 1.5 percent speed advantage in running, and whites hold a 1.5 percent speed advantage in swimming. Among athletes of the same height Asians are even more favored than whites in swimming but they are not setting records because they are not as tall.
If you are not happy with Asian beating all records in swimming, go do water polo

Just take a closer look at Pan's outstanding technique. It is super clear from the video that his body remains perfectly streamlined, and his arm movements are so fluid that they create minimal waves. Meanwhile, his legs also kicks with an incredible speed. If you watch the short clips comparing underwater techniques between Pan and Chalmers, Chalmers appears very clumsy next Pan. One will even start to wonder how can Chalmers swim so fast with such a clumsy movement. Accusations of doping against Pan are baseless and do nothing to advance the sport or improve anyone's swimming. Learn from his amazing technique should be the right thing to do.

USA is a disgrace. Their silver and bronze medalists refused to shake hands with the Chinese Gold medalist. The USA 2nd place athletes went straight to the 1st placed Chinese athlete and called him a doping cheat. And regardless of the 7 times a day testing of the Chinese athletes prior to the event to stop them from having proper rest (Midnight, Early morning, Morning, Afternoon, Late afternoon, Evening, etc) they are now demanding that court hearings be held on the Chinese Athletes after the Olympics.
USA has 600% more drug violations than China (USA 1.2%, China 0.2%) yet USA is 35% less tested than China (USA 6,782 samples, China 19,228 samples).
ANTI-DOPING TESTING FIGURES IN SELECTED COUNTRIES - Violations 2022

      Yesterday's diving and today's swimming!
I believe that only yellow people can break the world record set by Pan Zhanle, because the Australian coach and US Michael Phelps said that his record is impossible for humans and it starts from the perspective of white people, but they don’t know that yellow people’s bodies are good materials for swimming instead of white. As long as everyone looks at whether a submarine is faster or a battleship is faster, it will be clear. The fat and muscle evolved by yellow people The proportions, streamlined frame, and flexibility of tendons are all superior to those of white people. As long as they are well-nourished, yellow people will sweep the swimming world. Just like in the past, no one in Europe and the United States could "dive" in the Olympic diving world since US Greg Lugennis. ", all were outcompeted by yellow people. From now on, in the swimming world, white people will soon be unable to "swim", because the economies of East and Southeast Asian countries are taking off, and after their people have enough nutrition, The body will grow longer, and by then the swimming world will only be dominated by yellow people!

China's CCTV ( China Central TV) has just aird an interview with Pan before the Olympics which he urged to air the interview only after the game for keeping his secret weapon a secret. In this interview he said he could do 46.6 already in the training , but he wanted to keep it as a secret so he swam only 46.8 in World Aquatics Championships - Fukuoka 2023 - Japan in order to fool everybody into thinking that's the limit he could do. Then his rivals would think that as long as they could do 46.8 or above, they could beat him. He said he would reveal his true score in the Olympics as a surprise.

I would also throw a bit of doubt on the idea that anyone in that field would stop pushing past 46.7 if they truly believed they had a shot at the WR -- they're all swimming to be at their own peak.

I must point out a fact that many people don't know. The United States can be exempted from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The United States uses its strong political and military power and financial control to sanction and even intimidate any country, organization or individual, so the IOC and WADA must give in to the United States. The testing of American athletes is independently tested by the USADA of the United States.
In international sports events related to national honor, the United States can decide whether its athletes have violated anti-doping laws. How can it convince other countries and people?
Similarly, due to the "influence" of the United States as a superpower, the United States can arbitrarily obtain favorable results through rules. The asthma problem of American athletes is well known, but the amazing thing is the success rate of American athletes in applying for drug exemptions. 2/3 of them have been approved, while the pass rate of China is less than 1/20 of that of the United States.
Such a disgraceful United States has made many false accusations and even smears against China, and even said that China politically interfered with WADA, causing WADA to fight back and publicly accused 90% of American athletes of not testing according to WADA rules at a press conference.

The most unfortunate part of being a swim fan right now is that the spotlight has shifted away from the sport of swimming into a doping allegation witch-hunt based on politics, ego, and/or xenophobia. If we are to accept that Pan is doping to explain his successful swims, or that Qin is not doping enough to explain his unsuccessful swims, then we undermine the integrity of the ENTIRE meet. After all, the same organization that allows Chinese swimmers to participate in the meet also allow American swimmers, Australian swimmers, etc to participate. The result is non-discussion that devolves into a witch-hunt that isn't just one sided: American swimmers are also accused of doping to explain their unnatural purple skin color post race.
If we are to believe our American swimmers are clean because they've been tested, then we must also believe the other country's swimmers who have also been tested (even more), are also clean. Not for their swimmers' sake, but for ours. We must believe in innocence until proven otherwise.

The whole strict liability thing were told as athletes was kinda just thrown out the window in that special case. I’m not saying something like that has happened again just that the lack of trust in wada right now is somewhat well warranted and pan is getting caught in the crossfire.

The difference is that China has a history of institutional doping, which is unfair to its athletes who aren't doping, but completely understandable. Hell they hired former East German coaches early in developing their swimming program (who, of course, had no history of institutional doping!) and the doping that ensued earned them the their first sanctions for doping ... so being suspicious of Chinese athletes is reasonable (and unfortunate).

I have lots of thoughts on this as a swimmer myself. What springs to mind is looking at other sports like football for example where Messi has almost impossible God like skills compared to other players, then there was Federer in his day in tennis, and of course Usain Bolt's 9:58 which no one has close to. Pan Zhanle similar to David Popovici both seem to have incredible technique which is prob why they both broke recent 100m free world records. When you look at the underwater footage both swimmers imo have better body position than other world class swimmers plus better catch/EVF position + DSP. Pan also has that phenomenal leg kick which combined with his reach allowed him to glide super fast on water before beginning his catch + save fractions of energy whilst doing so. I think Pan just like David are just both brilliant swimmers in the same way that Bolt,Messi,Federer etc etc are all brilliant too.

Kyle, its a fact that SOME positive tests do result from contamination - not necessarily saying that the 23 Chinese were b/c of contamination, but contamination can result in positives.
Given this fact, how is it fair that you ban ALL positive tests and see them equally? As a swimmer, you should be able to see that having your entire life/career derailed because of a test result you weren't even responsible for is very unfair.
Swimmers already don't make a lot of money - having Michael Phelps call for all positives - even contamination - to be banned just makes it so much worse.

Difference is the Chinese self reported their swimmers in 2021
      👇
Chinese swimming scandal: a strong defence by world anti-doping body, but narrative of ‘cover-up’ remains
      Published: April 24, 2024
Given an investigation by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security found traces of the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ) in a kitchen at the swimmers’ hotel, CHINADA ruled the positive tests were the result of accidental contamination. The Chinese swimmers were cleared without any public announcement.
WADA says China’s national anti-doping agency kept them abreast of events throughout their extensive investigation, which took place during strict COVID lockdowns and was impacted by a local outbreak of the virus.
Far from accepting CHINADA’s findings on the face of it, WADA requested the entire case file so it could conduct its own scientific and legal investigations - including speaking with the drug manufacturer to get the latest unpublished science on TMZ, and comparing the Chinese positive tests with TMZ cases in other countries, including the US. WADA ultimately determined there was no concrete evidence to “disprove” the possibility of environmental contamination.
Here are a few reasons WADA gave as to why in its press conference this week:
More than 200 swimmers competing in the Chinese National Championships were staying in at least two different hotels at the time. The swimmers who tested positive to non-performance-enhancing amounts of TMZ were all at one hotel.
There were fluctuating negative and positive results for the swimmers that were tested on multiple occasions, which were not consistent with deliberate doping techniques, including microdosing.
WADA found no evidence of misconduct or manipulation in the case file handed over by CHINADA.
WADA says it reviews between 2,000 and 3,000 cases of suspected doping every year. It is not unusual for the body to file an appeal challenging anti-doping findings.
For example, WADA challenged an Australian Football League decision to clear 34 members of the Essendon Football Club. It also appealed a decision by the world swimming body, FINA, to clear high-profile Chinese swimmer Sun Yang of wrongdoing for his conduct during a 2018 drug test.
According to WADA’s general counsel, Ross Wenzel, the difference between these cases and the more recent allegations against the Chinese swimmers was that the body accepted the “no fault” finding in the latter case. In the earlier cases, it did not.
He also said WADA received external legal advice that it would have had less than a 1% chance of winning an appeal in the TMZ case. According to WADA, everything was handled by the book, and if the body was faced with the same situation again, it would do nothing differently.
Has China been unfairly singled out?
So, has WADA succeeded in changing the narrative? Probably not.
Why? Because putting the words “China” and “doping” together is a lightning rod in the current political climate given the intense rivalry between China and the US.
Currently there are 23 people serving anti-doping suspensions in Australia. Do we feel personal or national shame for their wrongdoing?
Every time the US team marches into an Olympic Games, or steps up onto a World Championships medal podium, do we point at them while recalling memories of the US Postal Service cycling team and the banned-for-life cyclist Lance Armstrong?
But when it comes to China, many observers are quick to name and shame athletes, viewing every news story as some kind of proof the country must have a systemic, state-sanctioned doping program.

Just the other day, a Chinese diver (gold medal favorite) was a offered some treat by an American or European diver (competitor) just before taking her dives. Luckily, the Chinese diver had the presence of mind to decline the offer, then, her coach took the offer instead, out of respect. Not saying that treat was doped, but what if? Deliberate or not? Pan was furious about how he and other Chinese swimmers were getting treated (whether they deserved it or not and whether the slight was real or not). Having watched high performance athletics for a long time, I know that one of the biggest performance enhancers out there is emotions. Lezac didn’t throw down a 46.0 in that relay leg just by riding the French anchor’s bow wave. He did it in a situation where Phelps’ 8 Olympic Golds were facing its biggest threat against a heavily favored French team as the long time anchor for the US team. If Pan was clean, this is just another example of the incredible things that can happen when you combine extreme physical fitness with raw explosive emotion. • @someone5002
      @someone5002 5 месяцев назад +1

The most glaring solution is to step up with more testing from countries that are lax about it (ahem, US of A). People on the Salem doping witch hunt always deflect that athletes dope during training and then cycle off during competition. Then test more out of competition, which we know a certain country does the bare minimum in a cat away, mouse will play scheme.
The easiest method of not getting caught is simply knowing testing isn't a threat - or it's done only during competition when they can "cycle down." It's basically no-holds-barred with that system in play.
Apparently when Phelps was an actively competing, he resisted calls for bio passports (which are in place now and anti-doping tools used in the investigation of the 23 Chinese swimmers that supported their clearance) that his rivals advocated for. I wonder why, huh?
I've already said my piece about Phelps' redemption with his substance abuses (marijuana and alcohol) where he was arrested TWICE for DUI - a criminal offense far more harmful that could have taken innocent lives (or his own). I find it all duplicitous and self-righteous.

Instead of groundless speculation, lets look at facts. The most consequencential fact IMHO is Pan's extraordinary high cadence and powerful kicks. All along, we were told/taught that arms movement account for overwhelming proportion of propulsion, ranging from 90% to maybe 70%. So for legs, 10 to 30%. In Pan's case, his legs contribution got to be at the high end and maybe even more. I think Pan has proven conventional wisdom wrong, and he has revoluntioned free style swimming!

This kid was 19 years old and turned into 20 few days ago. He has won many world titles in the past many years. China team swimmers have been treated unfairly, everyone tested at 5 am, 6 am and many times during the day and week. Their sleeps have been interrupted over and over. When the track and field records been broken year after year, we didn’t hear doping suspicions. Go watch his world records history and time he beat his own records with his age. JUST ASK YOURSELF, if today it’s not Pan winning, it’s from US, Britain or France - will you still ask the same question? When next time, any record being broken, shouldn’t we have the same suspicions? A little bit background of Pan - he started little and would not come out of swimming pools since he was under 5 years old. The only punishment his coach could do was not allowing him to be in the water. He has all the trophies and medals hanging in his room since he was little and only one space was saved for the Olympic Games. Do we want to say he started doping since he was little? Just like all the athletes, everyone works hard to get to their dreams. It’s not a surprise to see records being broken every time. Check on all sport records in past decades.

All athletes worked hard, trained hard, and expected to compete fairly.
