Not only in the West and you know it, there is a big problem with all these Chinese children born after the one-child policy, who are used to comfort, they are no longer able to adapt to the real world. What Chalmers showed him is very good, no one will give you a free smile in the ultra competitive world of professional sports, it is up to him to wake up because in real life too, his wife will not give him a free smile, if he does not bring money home.

I am happy for him that the misunderstanding between him and Kyle Chalmers got resolved. I think what hurt Pan the most is that Kyle was one of his idol growing up. He looked up to kyle and when he ignored him after a quick fist bump Pan naturally and understandably got hurt given the atmosphere of western swimmers against the Chinese. For Kyle maybe he did just got peer pressure to ignore the chinese swimmers as well. I think most of the swimmers really do not like the way the U.S is also politicizing the sports but they are also afraid to be called a traitor etc. Only a few are courageous enough to come out of the open like Ben Proud, Cam Mcevoy and Caeleb Dressler.

Fellow Asians, we may have many differences and issues with each other, but this time we should be united to fight white supremacy and discrimination against our Asians. We, as a whole, are the most diligent, intelligent and friendly people on the planet, for too long some white westerners think they are better than us in everything, especially those from Anglo-Saxon countries. But the Truth is, when their Anglo-Saxon ancestors were living in the caves ours had already established different civilizations.

As a Malaysian Chinese, I feel compelled to share my own experiences. When I traveled to European countries, I distinctly felt the discrimination from white people toward us Asians. The condescending looks and the tone of their speech, treating us as if we were inferior, made me feel very uncomfortable. It's truly unfortunate that even in 2024, such blatant racial discrimination still exists.

I've watched one of his interviews after the 100m game. The host put out a footage, which is shooted before the Olympic. In that footage, Pan simply said he's capable of swimming 100 aroud 46.5(his previous WR IS 46.8, but he and his coach decided not to unveil this result before the Olympic as a game stratagy. Man came with a full game plan.

My grandfather told me that after killing four soldiers of the US Army's First Division in the Korean War, American prisoners looked at him like God. Later, he fought with Australians and killed two Australians with bayonets. My grandfather was injured in this battle. After recovering from his injury, he was transferred to take care of the prisoner of war camp and participated in organizing the prisoner of war sports meet. More than 500 "athletes" from 11 countries including the United States, Britain, and France participated in this sports meet.
He told us to be humble towards Americans. If Americans really offend our interests, we should never be merciful, and hit them hard. Be sure to keep a smiling face before taking action.

    Strength ≠ Quality
Some people are strong but have poor quality. Some people are strong but have good quality.
The first situation is more common among Westerners, and most Chinese athletes belong to the second situation. (Not only in sports, the humility of the Chinese can be felt in many aspects, even in diplomacy, China respects every country, even if the country is weak)
Respecting opponents is the most basic principle of sports, but now many arrogant people have forgotten this.

Considering the communal life in the national team where he lived. His life experiences have been quite simple, surrounded by people who love him. The only setback he may have experienced growing up was not being the top student for two years during his late puberty. But after that, he has always been at the top. The worst thing he might have experienced in his life was being ignored by Charles when he greeted him at the Olympics

Pan Zhanle is smart. He' not holding on to the negativity the other swimmers are trying to bring. He beat them, let them embarrass themselves, and let them apologize. Now he's going back to doing his own thing and not focused on them at all. He's perfectly ready to beat them again at another time in the future if they try to mess with him, but he's not letting them hold him down / back.
Just look out for the ppl thinking " 给我等下 ".....

Pan's reaction to being dissed in the first place is a reflection of the mature Chinese culture. It's rooted in the Confucian philosophy of how to conduct yourself socially. It's my belief that the younger western cultures are still in the process of maturing.
It is to the credit of these western athletes who quickly adapted their behavior to conduct themselves well following that incident. We need to applaud them for this. It doesn't matter whether it comes from the heart. What matters is that they recognize that the Olympics is a big event, and all eyes are upon them, that the social media is very merciless in their criticism and they have stepped up to repair the situation.
If only the politicians can learn from them.
6:22 I beg to differ. I don't think there's a need to disrespect them back; I think speaking up and point out misbehaviors are sufficient. May not be adequate for all situations, but as a matter of principle, one should not lower the standards of conduct just to get equal. It is more important to behave properly and let history be the judge. Most people forget that with the advent of social media, the internet has turned into one big timemachine. History and historians will look back and judge.
