I paint cars professionally for a living, some tips. Take a metal coat hanger and run it through the holes so you can hang it up on something in the garage like a coat, that way it won't get rain on and you can spray the entire thing at once.
As you found out the hard way, the more coats you spray on the longer it will take to dry, so unless you have a paint booth to cure the paint, try to keep layers to a minimum. Only spray on as much as you need to cover it and look right, not to build up excessive layers.
If you do spray paint indoors like a garage, make sure you open the doors, the paint is very bad for your lungs. If you plan to do it often buy a paint mask.

I also pimped out my first violin! A 3/4 size, $80 violin I got off amazon.. definitely plastic, terrible sound, but got me to where I am today! Mine was ocean/mermaid inspired.. super cool seeing other people decorate their old instruments as well!

If you make a mistake with spray paint, you can fix it with nail polish remover. It's the same thing as nail polish.

I have a Hermet Schartel hand made in Romania with all ebony fittings. When its retired, I will just hang it on the wall. I've upgraded the strings and recut a new bridge. I've also fitted it with a quartz crystal inside mounted on the end pin. My bow also had quartz on the knob and a white feather hanging where the body meets the neck on a leather cord that an Ibis gifted me.

"Rustic" - that's the same word I use for my cooking when it doesn't come out the way I want, ha ha. The violin turned out cute, but I think it needs a lot more stuff added to it! Maybe more leaves, or flowers or feathers or something. A bird's nest. Eggs. Birds. JK LOL, but it does need more!

Noxsi The Valkyrie no I did not. But I do know and didn’t have to read anything for this that the violin wood create marks and scratches from the paint.
