You should do a little more research on the old west. While it's true that many cowboys wore bowler or bowler style hats, many cowboys actually DID wear cowboy hats. And Stetson was a hat maker and a brand, not a style.

Even though the Stetson "Boss of the Plains" hat was introduced around 1865, it wasn't popular with so called "cowboys" until the end of the 19th century. Billy the Kid wore a top hat. Bat Masterson liked the derby hat. Wild Bill Hickok wore a pancake hat. Jesse James wore a low-crown hat with an upturn brim. Is that better for you?
