    Coca Cola was originally a headache remedy, not a soft drink. Perhaps you ought to mentioned that as well, since that is the reason very early coca cola had cocaine in it.

      @V J The cocaine in Coca-Cola was removed either in the 1890s or early 1900s. Later, the government got on Coca-Cola for what ingredients went in to the making of Coke, and Coke responded by reducing the amount of caffiene in the drink. Coca leaves are still part of the ingredients for Coke, but the majority of the cocaine has been removed leaving only trace amounts of cocaine. Coca-Cola is the only company allowed to legally import coca leaves.

    A rather long comment as to #20.
    Due to nice coincidences, my life was saved at a teaching hospital - on a July 3rd. I had never been seriously ill before I got sick while at the store with my family and was confused, slurring my speech, and unable to walk straight. I seemed to be having a stroke so my family rushed me to the ER of one of the best hospitals in our city (a teaching hospital). No one in the ER knew exactly what was wrong with me because they ruled out a stroke. The admitted me to a room while they were trying to figure things out. A group of doctors (residents?) came around to see the other patient in the room and in the group was a particular new doctor (from resident) who had recently learned about Sarcoidosis in a seminar of some kind. The resident rushed to catch the visiting specialist who had conducted the seminar and was on his way to the airport to leave town. The specialist examined me and ordered a biopsy that found the sarc cells in my lungs. Treatment was started immediately instead of wasting more precious time. I mean it when I say that the resident saved my life - or at least more serious damage to my brain from the disease. That former resident became my primary care doctor. That was 8 years ago. I am still being treated for the sarc and it took me about 20 minutes to put this comment together, but I am better off than if anything had been different on that July 3rd.

      We speak neither Latin nor Greek, and we do not call the Earth "Gaia" or "Terra"... outside of science fiction, anyways. We speak English, and the English name for the planet is "Earth". @TheLincolnBlogs I can only judge by the people I've spoken to, which is a lot of "people living outside the US". A lot of this I have even known since I was a kid. I have met many smart Americans indeed, but sometimes it feels like the rest of the world knows more about the US than the Americans themselves. I'm not really sure where you draw the correlation between me saying that most of this is common knowledge to people living outside the US and the fact that people tends to migrate to the US, maybe it hurt your patriotic pride somehow, but rest assured, I will not migrate... my country has among the highest living standards in the world, I have absolutely no need to go there. Maybe on vacation, although I can think of a lot of better ways to spend my money.

      @TheLincolnBlogs Well, what do you expect? A survey? I think it would be hard to find such a specific survey anywhere, and I have no idea what else you would want to see. There is no secret that there are ignorant people everywhere, though, no denying that. If it makes you sleep better at night, you may indeed keep believing that this is uncommon knowledge to everyone, but that won't change much.

    • @Erik-vp5bm
      @Erik-vp5bm 5 лет назад

      @TheLincolnBlogs Are you not aware of the things that are common knowledge to your own countrymen? Cause then I suggest you get out more. The fact that this surprises you so speaks volumes, really. I never said directly that Americans are ignorant, but you are kind of confirming your own station here. More so for every message you write, really. I don't really understand where you are trying to get with your ridiculous counter-insults about missing diversity, though - the fact that the top countries on the list are more or less homogenous (homologous being the updated term, by the way) is fine by me. We have all the cultural diversity we need, and maybe even then some. After all, we're getting all the refugees that you guys are creating with your endless wars.
