I don't have a PhD, but I could've told those scientists that spiders don't like concentrated piss. Someone must've had an absolutely amazing line of bullsh!t to sell that idea lolol.
The study on ugly is true. Period. The difference is how a person ACTS upon that instinct. People who are more evolved can resist and see past physical appearance while lessor trolls cannot.
I have learned in my 53 years on this little ball, that people who say "You can trust me" should not be trusted. You see, the liar will say, "You can trust me." because they are lying. The honest man will not say "you can trust me." instead, they will show you they can be trusted.
The "Brazil nuts go to the top of the bag" reminds me of watching a video on the idea that bullets knock people back - with that I have interpreted that the velocity plays the role of mass, to proportionally infrom the thing that gets blown away. You can argue convincingly that a bullet shot will not force things but that's so literal it practically "rarely" occurs. The velocity of the bullet is so great it makes an 'outsize'd suggestion. The Brazil nut is not nearly as dense as most nuts, so the force of smaller-but-heavier nuts filling in a bag like Tetris blocks that don't get delete'd puts "proportionally lighter" up on the top of the denser nuts, when they settle.
It has been disproved that cold doesn't effect whether you catch a cold or not. Cold air is dry and dries your nasal passages and causes chapping that lets the rhinovirus enter the bloodstream easier.
Makes sense. I understood that a factor of this principle was that immune system is suppressed, possibly as a result of energy / calories being spent maintaining internal temperature (38° C)?
Personally, knowing that cold viruses love dark warm moist places, when I get a cold and it’s cold outside I go out and breathe as deeply through my nose as I can. Trying to freeze their little disease-carry butts off. It does seem to help a little.

You may not be able to catch a cold just from being in cold weather, but it definitely plays a role, as viruses thrive in cool, damp environments. If it's cold and wet out there are way more viruses floating around for you to catch
A cuttlefish wearing 3-D glasses is the shot of serotonin I didn’t know I needed! I have affection for persons, animals, and items that are considered “ugly” by typical standards. I don’t know why.
I drink out of my milk carton/jug all the time, don't feel bad! I drink almond milk now though ❤ it's yummy and better for me. Need that extra magnesium
The most horrific experiment I’ve heard of was the “no sleep” experiment. Subjects were confined together and deprived of sleep. It was terminated after a subject murdered another subject.
There have been experiments on sleep deprivation as sadly this has been a means of torturing people like POW's. It is not the creepy pasta version that is spread all over the web where a gas was pumped into the room and there was only a port hole window on a door. However there is an actual Genetic Disorder called FFI (Fatal Familial Insomnia). It is insomnia obviously, but the person will eventually die from it and sadly the person deteriorates both physically and mentally from insomnia. The body struggles with automatic processes - things like moderating temperature, sweating, breathing, moderating heart rate, etc. and this is why this is considered to be an illegal thing to do to POW's in interrogation as they are prone to have heart attacks and severe body function issues after forced to be awake. Mentally people lose memory function, emotion regulation (can eventually have nervous breakdown), value and core belief systems, will become incoherent, and with certain people this part sometimes happens and can happen sooner rather than later but many people will have a full psychotic break. This means they lack the ability to understand what is real and what is not real and this can include hallucinations. I've sadly witnessed this in some people who have stayed awake to try and protect themselves from previous attackers and suffered from extreme PTSD until the hallucinations were so bad that after three days they needed to be fully inpatient hospitalized and all items including sheets and other things were taken away from them. Things only get worse the longer they don't sleep and once hallucinations start they tend to snowball until they can't sleep due to hallucinations now and are in a full psychosis. Heart rate is usually up and they are more and more emotional. Some people even try to fake that they are OK, but their eyes and discussing anything beyond surface level things will make it so you discover they are far from OK. That's what insomnia can do to people and while I am sure that certain substances like uppers can be involved in keeping people up for days and make them less than aware of their actions and they may commit crimes, the majority of people who have insomnia simply can't function, can't recall simple words or tasks like if they had gotten regular healthy sleep. They feel fatigued and lack energy. They don't heal from wounds nor get over illnesses fast. Their mental cognition is impaired and they need to hear or read it twice. These are common and simply get worse with less and less sleep. One hour of sleep lost is not made up by one hour slept in on a weekend. One hour lost can take two weeks of sleeping an extra 30+ minutes a day to make up. Insomnia is no joke.
The story about the professor reminds me of a story from my high school days. Literally over 40 years ago… I took advanced placement calculus. The year before, I took advanced placement trig. These classes to allow you to possibly place out of taking the college classes if you pass a test. One teacher taught both and had done so for a number of years. She said that one of the students she had in the past was particularly gifted. Didn’t need to study. And was also good at teaching. When he was taking the calculus class, she said she would sometimes have him teach the AP trig class because he was good and could do it on a moments notice. So, one day she forgot to even inform him of what she wanted him to teach. So, he went into the trig class and just made up a fake topic of “hyper complex numbers”. She said she came in towards the end of the class and saw all the gibberish he had written on the board and couldn’t think of anything to say except to say that “hyper complex numbers will not be on the upcoming exam”.
I want to conduct an experiment on how and why people become complete idiots once they enter a costco parking lot only to regain common sense once they leave the lot.

Two of the craziest I've heard of are in the field of psychology. The Stanford Prison Experiment and the Milgram experiment. Both shocking and disturbing.
Study 04 seems faulty on premise. The amygdala has been proven to be where emotions originate from through a variety of scientific testing. However in taking away someone's oxygen this could induce other responses that are purely survival based as the person was being suffocated. What was considered to be a panic attack could be gasping for breath or hyperventilation. Not wanting to be touched or other things that come with panic attacks could be the person still in a survival mode until they have enough oxygen in their blood. Panic attacks by definition occur by a perceived imminent threat and not an actual threat which breathing in CO2 is an actual threat of death and one side effect of CO2 poisoning is emotional upsets. The experiment lacks merit in calling the response a panic attack when something was done that was threatening to cause it. I think there are other ways to check for fear responses that we have now that would not actually threaten the subject, but could simulate significant threats to a person's safety. Then just because something has a tumor or multiple doesn't mean it is entirely without function as they didn't remove it from the brain so whether incorrectly functions or functioning on only 10% and needing a significant event to feel fear are very different. I hope this was done when the person was in a brain scanner as that would be the only way to prove the amygdala didn't fire in response to what they did.
Brazil nuts go to the top of the bag because they're larger than other nuts. You could do the experiment with stones or anything and get the same results. Actually, getting a cold has something to do with cold weather because cold viruses thrive in cold temperatures but don't do well in warmer temperatures. I'd be up for the experiment to resetting my circadian clock. I can easily stay awake, alert and productive for 30 hours, then fall fast asleep for 11 hours+/-, then do it all over again.
