The fact that tools like this even exist is a strong testament to how spoiled we are as creators nowadays. Seriously.
Having typed that, I think this adapter is a bit too pricey considering it's only a 1.33x squeeze. But still, it's great that it exists!
1.33x is standard for 16:9 sensors. Get over yourself ;)
The fact that you are unable to adapt/update yourself to the better gears is a strong testament to how spoiler you are as a creator. Seriously.

80% of the clips look like they were shot on spherical lenses tho. Its not the fault of moment, but the fact that the squeeze is just 1.33x. cant wait for moment to come out with 1.6x or 1.8x adaptors in the future!

I understand why they'd go with this route. Their primary market is for people with regular cameras that shoot 16:9. Most cameras don't shoot Open Gate (4:3). Since 16:9 is narrower, it only requires 1.33X squeeze to get to the 2:35:1 cinematic standard even though it won't exhibit as much anamorphic quality as some might prefer.
If you throw a 1.8x Lens/Adapter on a 16:9 camera, that's going to result in a massive 3:55:1 which you'll have to crop to one of the standard ratios, but you'll get a more stylized image.
I have Great Joy's Lens and adapter and it took me a while to get used to this workflow. I prefer to just use the adapter (1.35x) with a spherical lens and I've been pretty happy with the results. In the end, I think Moment chose the safest option to get natural widescreen with a touch of anamorphism.

Noticed there where no focus pulls in the clips and wondering how the focus breathing is with this? Ive seen it to be a big problem with other adapters so hopefully its OK with this one, but lack of samples is concerning ( for a run and gun film maker...if you dont need to focus during the shot as youve set it up in advance then sure it works well for productions)
So on quite a few of these shots, say 1:21 for example, there is quite a bit of odd color noise in the grays and blacks? Is this the adapter or?
This looks so amazing , I live in the Pacific Northwest so all the Color’s and vibe hits home !! Is there a lut you used for the color grading in post , or do you have your own ? I would like to know more info on how you edited in post , maybe you have a tutorial or something out there , thanks 🙏
If only it were for wider lenses… and the 1.33x just isn’t enough to warrant the purchase for me. Hopefully you guys come out with an update somewhere along the line.

I have an important question about one of your products, does you 1.33x need a special case made by your company for use?
Was this shot at 30fps and converted to 24fps in post? Lots of stuttering in some scenes

Amazing footage! What lens was the adapter fitted to?
In a precedent video, they've showed the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 in the setup, i think. So at least a few shots are with that lens

feel like the adapter being more than/equal to a real anamorphic lens, with a larger squeeze, kind of defeats the purpose of an adapter. this would be great if it was ~$600 not $1300. it seems like a good product but i don't see how an adapter is more expensive than a lens with multiple moving elements and more glass.

Looks great. With a full frame sensor and lens, what’s the widest lens it would work on before the image circle appears and shows vignetting?
I believe they don’t recommend a wider focal length than 50mm full frame equivalent.

He says at the end of the video what cinema cameras he used , I did however buy the iphone 1.33 anamorphic lense and it works great , can achieve a look like this , not as great because I’m not using a 6,000 camera with a 1500 lense but it’s pretty fun and quality is pretty good
I’m always excited for new anamorphic adapters, but I’m not really feeling this one. It reminds me a lot of the reason why I sold my SLR Magic 1.33 anamorphot. Since it’s only 1.33 it just doesn’t give you that anamorphic look. Instead, I feel like it’s mostly just downgrading the image. I feel like you’re not really gaining all that much, except for a lot of bulk. Of course, you’ll get a wider view, but you could also just use a wider lens, since you’re not getting that anamorphic bokeh/look anyway.

Unfortunately Fam you’re way off… you can’t just get a wider lens and get this look not even with free fried chicken fridays… this adapter is definitely game changing to those that love the anamorphic look. This guy said buy a wider lens lmao 🤣 you most likely shoot on Nikon too 😂🦍🫡
@@TheRealShotClock24 I'm not against moment's adapter and find it better than slr magic, but I'll have to agree with him. 1.33x is barely anamorphic, and any person who shoots anamorphic professionally and not just for fun (im not one of them) will say 1.33x is not enough to call something anamorphic. 1.5 or 1.6x is the minimum the really getthe look and not just "in some situations" as seen in slr magic and moment 1.33x results.
@@TheRealShotClock24 First of all, I’m not hating on the product. As a matter of a fact, I’m all for the development of new anamorphics. I'm just trying to give my honest opinion on the adapter, based on the footage displayed in this video.
I do think that I’ve gained enough experience to form an opinion on this matter. I’ve been working as a colorist in the commercial field for about three years now, so I’m used to working with anamorphic footage. Next to that, I’ve shot anamorphic myself with the SLR anamorphot 1.33 as well as a Sankor 2x. If I’m really after that anamorphic look I’d go with the Sankor any day. For me, it’s not about the flares. It’s about the bokeh, field curvature, etc. It’s magic when you have those aesthetics, combined with a wider field of view. However, you’ll never be able to achieve that with this lens, since you’re limited to 50mm on full frame or 35mm on S35 from what I've read. Also, I feel the way the video was shot, is covering up the fact that the anamorphic aesthetic is lacking. But who knows, maybe future footage will change my opinion.

Agree, GreatJoy 50mm 1.8x looks much better and more friendly for beginners as a single lens. Even Laowa is a better deal. Aviascope 1.5x would be the reference of adapter to me. If anyone make a 1.5x adapter for $1-1.5k, that would be a killer.
Will you be doing a 1.6x version? or even say a 2x version?

1.33X may not work for cinematic purposes, but it'll do fine for most vloggers' and amateur filmmakers' purposes. That seems to be the target market for this adapter.

Hey Moment, is the sharpness of this adapter also degrading drastically with F2.0 and below, or is it working with F1.4?
Really like the look. Not too distorted and i dont have to crop my lenses anymore on my Ursa to get 2.4:1 aspect ratio. Also really looking forward to pair this one with all my
vintage glass for creating looks beyond usual anamorphic glass.

Doesn't have the character I like in anamorphic glass. Most of this looks spherical with a crop and doesn't give off an anamorphic feel when I watch.
Would love to see this on a cinema camera....like Alexa...or Sony Venice...

There is a ton of rolling shutter and jarring movement in this, just far too much., it crosses the line of a creative choice into nearly unwatchable for me. This is just constructive feedback not criticism. However, the adapter gives a great look 👍🏻

Yes…but no
A typical "moment" product. Way overpriced, nearly impossible to focus with, vignetting on nearly everything. And so top heavy you need all kind of other products (cage, rails, lens supports) to make anything out of it. This is one of the lenses that will end up in a photobag, collecting dust. Dont buy.
