So I didn't know going in that they worked at maid cafes before the band which is the reason I said they've got a Lolita aesthetic. After reading more on maid cafes, I'll say that while I may have been wrong they were going for the lolita aesthetic, their look would fit right in. Definitely will be digging into more of their music as well as the bands that have been listed in the comments on this video.

Yes, Band-Maid music has been incorporated in some Anime series' such as "Yu-Gi-Oh!" , "Log Horizon" & the aforementioned "Platinum End". The band also had a song chosen for the Japanese TV drama "Perfect Crime" & they also made a cameo in the US movie "Kate" (starring Woody Harrelson).

The outfits are based on Japanese Maid Cafe style. Miku the rhythm guitar and second vocalist worked in a maid cafe and started the band wanting to keep the maid theme. Akane is the drummer and Jimmy Page complimented her after seeing them in concert. Konami is the lead guitarist and composes a lot of their music. Misa is on bass and Saiki is the vocalist

BAND-MAID calls itself "An impossibly hard rocking maid band". But their genre is broader than that. Their songs tend to hover between rock, punk, progressive rock-ish. One thing is for sure, BAND-MAID is a live band! That's when they shine the most. You can really see that they love to be on stage and play live. They are always relaxed there and having fun on stage. All 5 are extremely good on their instruments and everyone who sees them live says "this band is tight!", and they certainly are. I love them!

That was me in the comments on your post asking for music suggestions - as my avatar here on YT might suggest, I am a little bit of a fan! - and this was my suggestion so thanks for checking them out. Your comment "I can't even understand this and I want to be at one of their concerts" (and that was before the breakdown where they all get a solo slot!) are the words I always hope to hear when I introduce someone to Band-Maid (either with 'Domination' or the instrumental 'Onset') but some just can't see how incredible they are. For me, with 45 years of attending live Rock, Metal and EDM gigs under my belt, Band-Maid are THE best Rock/Hard Rock/Metal band I've ever seen and heard. Every single song is at least great, most are excellent and many are masterpieces. Their MV's are superb. their live performances are just the best in the world, their musicianship and songwriting is equal to anyone, at any time. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal (which I 1000% guarantee your daughter would love based on what you said) and Lovebites have done for Metal (another two superb female Japanese band you'll enjoy too, I'm sure). Future reactions I'd recommend, as they really shine brightest live, would be from the DVD they released in April 2020 and which this performance of 'Domination' is from. (THIS HAS AN EXTENDED DRUM SOLO!) FREEDOM: ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html , PLAY: ruclips.net/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/видео.html , CHOOSE ME: ruclips.net/video/HcqitbXgigU/видео.html and WONDERLAND: ruclips.net/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/видео.html , though they have superb music videos too. 🤘EASTER EGGS IN DOMINATION! THERE ARE ENGLISH SUBTITLES ON THIS VIDEO, by the way. At 5:59 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 7:27 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in the web of skin between her thumb and finger so she can switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond - skills! At 10:02 - A brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one of the sweetest rolling chord patterns ever - pure class. THE best live Rock band on Earth. And beyond. 🤘 Thanks again for reacting to this and I really hope you'll try out more of them as a reaction but we understand if you just have to see more of them and can't wait!

You're so right about Saiki's commanding presence on stage - and it's even more striking when you're in the audience, she's the kind of frontwoman who makes each audience member thinking that she's singing for him/her. Good reactions are very rare, but this was a good one! I'm sure you've seen lots of comments like this but I'll add mine: I grew up in the 80s and early 90s with bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath in one ear thanks to my parents, and bands like Guns 'N Roses, Radiohead, and the grunge and alternative bands in the other. I think Band-Maid can stand with any of those bands. Yeah.

Band-Maid's official videos fall into three categories: 1) Music Videos, which are always visually interesting and musically usually fire (although the MV for Domination is kinda mild-mannered compared to the live); 2) Actual live videos in front of actual live people; and 3) Internet live, performed in a studio for the streaming concerts they've had to do since COVID became a thing.
As you have seen, they really come alive in front of an audience, but all three types of videos are good.

Well, it looks like I have several 'congratulations' to give out. :)
First, congratulations on 'finding' this band. For quite a few out there, these ladies are the best thing the rock genre has seen and heard in a long, long time. And I'm not one of those who would even begin to dispute that. :)
Secondly, for being able to pick out so much details on the very first listen and thus recognizing the talent of each one of these ladies. Many have needed several listens for this.
The third is for having an eye and ear for our lovely and brilliant vocalist 'Saiki' in spite of all that the instrumental already delivers. Many people miss at first how good or how important she is for this band and performances like this. To my shame, I felt the same way at first. But you are right with every word you said about her.
And the 4th for describing the ladies' outfits so well, even that with the Victorian influences, without making the connection to their band name. :) ... But I can reassure you, you are in good company. It has been like that for a lot of people. But nevertheless, it is always nice to witness it again and again. :) And you didn't make fun of it, which deserves extra praise in my opinion.
And yet, believe me, you've only seen a fraction of what these phenomenal ladies are capable of. This pigeon-hole is deep as hell and doesn't let you escape anytime soon. Sounds exaggerated? Well, the standard recommendations 'Freedom', 'Play' and 'Onset' are good examples of the 'wonderland' (yes, another recommendation) these ladies create with their music.
Greetings from a German Maidiac. :)

They are also featured in the new Netflix movie KATE, playing live in a Japanese club. They have done sold out shows in Europe, and a couple in New York with rave reviews, jimmy page caught them in Tokyo, and asked to meet the drummer and get a pic with her (Akane), telling her she reminded him of John Bonham and is a is a fan of the Guitarist too, Kaname. Further live tracks to check out are "Real Existence", "Freedom" (w/drum solo) a ballad for their fans live streamed "About Us." Tokyo is the new Seattle, all good ears and eyes eyes are turning to the good new hard rock and metal all female bands coming out of there as the West has forgotten how to do it fresh . Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 We say "Japan is a country obsessed by Rock Music". I believe the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Talking about hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan thereafter : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Kiss (1977), Iron Maiden (1981) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands.
Uh oh, we also say "Japan is a country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Great reaction! I recommend you react to their double song video of “Manners” and “Black Hole” live. It’s an online concert so no crowd, but they haven’t been able to tour for their new album yet, unfortunately. But, in 1 video you see 2 sides to the band… one song is a straight up rock anthem, while the other is a Hard progressive rock gem, IMO. Also check out “Catharsis” acoustic… since it’s only up for a limited time. It’s another demonstration of their high level musicianship.

FROM JAPAN ◆ Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID.
BAND MAID is celebrating its 9th year of formation. BAND was formed by a girl who came to Tokyo from a local city of Japan to become a singer when she was about 19 years old. Five unique and talented girls gathered. The members have not changed, and they are continuing their efforts to improve their playing ability. They are constantly writing new songs and cool songs. Three new songs were released at the end of October.
BAND MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs.
1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014
2 Sense : The theme song of the anime "Platinum End". Dramatic, fast hard rock with a classic intro. 2021.10
3 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock
4 Different : First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season. 2020.12
5 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Saiki and Kobato vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful.
6 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence
7 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 2021.02
8 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile.
The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best.
9 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die.
10 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016
11 Secret My Lips & Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock. A gift for fans of April Fool's Day .
12 Blooming : Vocals and chorus are impressive, and various types of music are fused.
13 RINNE : High-speed rhythmic heavy rock, inspired by the Japanese horror movie "RINNE : Reincarnation".
RINNE (Reincarnation) is also found in Eastern thought and Buddhist thought.
14 onset : Instrumental song for lead singer Saiki breaks, their great playing power and harmony.
15 Play : A song composed as an instrumental song, but Miku added lyrics as Saiki liked it. With different intros depending on the live.
16 Before Yesterday : Record of the first overseas performance, Sakura-Con in Seattle 2016. Melodic Rock with great lyrics.
17 Choose me : An insert song of the concert scene the Netflix movie KATE, they appeared as BAND MAID. Cool rock song.
18 Dragon Cries : The only song produced by Tony Visconti.
It's not their lyrics, but it sings about the future of human society and the earth. Great Heavy Classic Rock .
19 After Life : A homage to the maid cafe and band formation where Kobato worked. BAND-MAID Hard Rock .
20 Corallium : The song that Saiki wrote all the lyrics for the first time. Hip pop style dancing hard rock.
21 Catharsis : A song from Acoustic Live, showing their diversity, and they do their best in every genre.
Added ★ Peace & Love : Founder Miku Kobato's solo project. Pigeon saves the world. Funky pop rock.

You just jumped in the deep end. Best straight-up rock band in the world, and as an old timer I think they may be the best since the Beatles. They certainly go harder, while being melodic and very creative in their songwriting. You are going to get a lot of suggestions. These are a bunch that are official or unlikely to come down. First, a little background on the girls:
Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 27 years old
MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 29 years old
Kanami Tono - Lead guitar Composer and main arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 30 years old
Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 30 years old
Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 31 years old
Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual solo.
They are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio.

Welcome aboard, Alan. You are embarking on (along with many others - 135 million YT views!) an awesome progressive hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (118 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World” and new single drops), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular.
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Sense, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis! And many are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts. Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 (bandmaidprime.tokyo) and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids are excellent. Here’s four of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. These two taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ruclips.net/video/__1th7ctgMo/видео.html, and a fun, wonderful live performance in Amsterdam of Miku introducing "Don't You Tell Me" (with MISA & Kanami's great instrumental exchange) and "Turn Me On” (with MISA's solo intro): ruclips.net/video/kfYQoWBlSpk/видео.html. The next one was taken by JT Dayo in LA: ruclips.net/video/4uIYBkAybCI/видео.html, and finally by JOSER8845 in LA: ruclips.net/video/usWZvlGGDSs/видео.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
    Band-Maid members are:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 28 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 30 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 30 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 31 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 29 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.

I saw this and thought "I'm sure I've seen him do loads of Band-Maid already", then realised I'd been watching you other stuff. Regarding the outfits, they were originally based on Maid Cafes, due to the idea of the rhythm guitarist who used to work in one, who thought it would be interesting to have a band that looked 'cute' but had a contrasting sound. The outfits have changed over time, becoming more individual, and even those these are the latest incarnation, they have changed slightly now.
Typically their songs are about 25% English, although the main singer isn't a confident English speaker, so her diction can be a little off. After a while though, you just stop noticing.
One slightly sad point, at the end of this show they announced to the fans that they were to play the Nippon Budokan a few months later - a venue that's revered in Japan, because if you play there you've 'made it' as a band. Then, within a month covid struck, that was cancelled, and they've not played in front of a live audience since. They are touring in the USA this year though.
Now...to try to find a music reactor who'll watch "Four Candles"

Well.... now you've done it.You opened a rather LARGE floodgate. Band-Maid's in particular and the Japanese rock scene in general. First, you had a LOT of spot-on insights into Band-Maid. You'll be surprised when you look back at this reaction and see how much you NAILED it. Second, this band is UNBELIEVEBLE. You just scratched the surface of the tip of an iceberg that runs REALLY deep. Pick any song. It''ll probably make your jaw drop. Third, as to the Japanese music scene, all of the bands listed previously in the comments are immensly talented and are awesome in their own right (it's INSANE!). My taste runs HEAVILY toward The Maids, but they're all great. You have a TON of amazing music in your very near future. Enjoy! 🕊

Boy are you in for a special treat! We are very passionate with this group! Band-Maid is the best group n many years! They incorporate all genres of music into their writing! Kanami Tono (lead guitarist, composer) writes all the bands score and she is nothing short of being a genius! Her persona seems like a shy clueless female but when she talks music and plays that guitar, she is mesmerizing!! As you go down this road you’ll find that each member is outstanding in their skills! Enjoy! Life starts NOW!!

They are Band-Maid. And today's the lead singer Saiki's birthday! Love you Saiki❤️❤️❤️ Saiki definitely shines on stage. How she transforms from rather shy, awkward person (appears aloof because of it) to the Queen of the Stage is mesmerising.
Babymetal is another band from Japan with female singers (there used to be 3 of them but maybe down to one I'm not sure) they have all male backing band, or more like part of the band called Kami band and they are insane.
However, they are very, very different musically. I could never get into babymetal myself but have lot of respect for them.
Nah...I personally can't imagine Domination being used for Anime. It's not chaotic enough. But definitely an awesome song along with my other 50+ bandmaid favourites.

As other's have said, they are not trying to dress in a "loli" or "lolita" style, they are wearing maid outfits.
Each member gives it their own flair. The 2 guitarists, Kanami and Miku, have a lot more frilly/foofy dresses so it's an understandable mistake.

Babymetal is not a genre, it is a specific band. Just so you know, if you start the dive into Japanese rock and metal, you won't come up for air for quite some time! There is a level of mastery that you find in Japan that you just don't see in the US and Europe. Their "average" musician is comparable to our very best! Most of their acts don't really target the West, and they don't care about marketing outside of Japan (understandable, since Japan is the world's second-largest music market). However, there are a few bands that are marketing themselves to the West, and BAND-MAID is one of those, along with Lovebites, Nemophila, Babymetal, and Aldious.
BAND-MAID leans more toward hard rock, though they do flirt with metal at times. They sing in a mix of Japanese and English.
Lovebites is primarily thrash and power metal, with some prog, traditional NWOBHM-style metal, and symphonic/neo-classical metal. They sing entirely in English. Two of the best lead guitarists in the world, and one of the fastest and tightest drummers in the world. The vocalist has a background in R&B, and brings a unique style to metal vocals!
    Lovebites "Holy War" - ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html
Nemophila is nu metal, metalcore, thrash, punk, power metal, and hard rock. They sing in a mix of Japanese and English. Also has two elite virtuosic guitarists. The drummer is one of the most sought-after session drummers in Japan. The bassist is very versatile and shares some lead vocal duties. The main vocalist has a beautiful clean voice, and an epic banshee-like screaming voice, similar to black metal. They are also one of the "happiest" metal bands in the world, as the video linked below will show.
    Nemophila "Oiran (Live 2021)" - ruclips.net/video/19VQ9tkWksQ/видео.html
Babymetal are a unique concept, comprised of j-pop vocals and dance aesthetics, with a brutally heavy metal backing band. They sing in a mix of Japanese and English. They invented a genre called "kawaii metal" ("kawaii" means "cute" in Japanese). They started when the three vocalists (now two) were 11 and 12 years old, and they are now in their early twenties. The backing music hits pretty much every genre of metal, from thrash, to death, to prog, to power metal. In the video below, they were 14 and 16 years old, respectively.

Aldious are primarily a power metal band. They sing in a mix of Japanese and English. Again, two very virtuosic lead guitarists (like Lovebites and Nemophila). And their drummer Marina Bozzio, while native Japanese, is the step-daughter of the legendary Terry Bozzio of Frank Zappa and Missing Persons fame.

If you're gonna show your daughter to BAND-MAID treat her to "Play Live" it's on their YT Channel so it's easy to find and you'll both love it!

You've just dipped your toe into the waters here man. Your daughter will love them. So many great songs to view.
A few suggestions. 'Manners/Black Hole', 'Dice', 'Freedom', 'Real Existence', 'Wonderland'. Live versions are my favorite. You, and your daughter will love any clips that you choose.

Domination is a great place to start. It really shows off many facets of Band-Maid.
If you love the drummer, watch Freedom from the same concert - great drum solo followed by guitar solo. But everyone will tell you this.
If you want their anime music, try Sense and Different. But you are right: their fast-paced music sits well with anime.

No, MISA isn't wearing a Military Pantsuit. It's a Chinese influenced Qipao, or Cheongsam Side Split Dress to go with her Asian Beauty look. But if you like Akane's drumming check out 'Freedom' LIVE. It has an extended drum solo. And, BAND-MAID has a couple few songs that have been either commissioned for, or used as Anime Opening & Closing Themes. 'Glory comes to mind. It was for Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS. But they have so many different kinds of songs, all of them awesome in their own way.

Great reaction, gets a sub from me. You have no idea of the greatness that lies ahead of you. Band-Maid has a very deep catalog (110+ songs), and zero bad tracks. They are the reigning hard-rock champions of the world. They are also just the tip of the iceberg of Japanese rock and metal, especially all-female bands. Lovebites, Nemophila, Gacharic Spin, Hanabie, SCANDAL, Hagane, Aldious, Fate Gear, and on and on... You have just met your new obsession :) :)

Welcome to the Maidiacs! Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the huge iceberg of musical greatness from this incredible group of ladies.
    Some suggestions:
Play (Live) - Greatest song intro EVER!
Onset (Live) - Mind Blowing Instrumental
Freedom (Live) - Incredibly Fun/great drum solo
    Blooming (MV) - Pure Adrenaline
    Thanks! 😁

If one more person compares them to Babymetal my head's going to explode. They're dressed as maids due to the rhythm guitarist/background vocalist's previous job at a Maid Cafe and costume preference. And lolli? They're Japanese, not Mexican.

In an interview here on RUclips Saiki and Miku indicated that they intersperse English for two reasons one people in Japan think it's cool, second it helps reach out to the English-speaking audience and keep them engaged.
