hey april wine fans,I met Big Jim Clench in Ottawa,1992 or so,wow, great guy!!please understand at one point he WAS 50 percent of April Wine songwriting, was also a funny guy, told a story of in the U.S.A.were fans would ask, when are we going to see this chick April!!!Jim had a way to crack you up.God bless Jimmy, you will allways be remembered.
Jim Clench was awesome. Its too bad his stuff with April Wine and BTO are overlooked for the most part. Great songwriter, bass player and singer. R.I.P.
I remember seeing these guys in 1999 in Shediac NB on the weekend of Woodstock '99. They did their set early that day because they were apparently headed to Woodstock '99 for another set that evening. It was my first time seeing them live and while I generally enjoyed the whole set, Jim blew my mind with this song. That little band from Canada stole the show... No easy feet considering the acts that followed them that day were a group that included Pat Travers, members of The Cars and members of Ted Nugent's band; Followed by Kansas and ZZ Top.
I was sort of surprised that there hadn't been more fuss made about Jim Clench's passing--surely a seminal Canadian singer/bassist. To me, Jim Clench is to Canadian pop music what John Wetton is to U.K. pop. Just my two bits : ) Thank you for this! Much appreciated!
Saw the "Stand Back" tour in Fredericton N.B. and got shot in the face by the silver cannon on the album! It was full of confetti OUCH BAAAAAHAAAA!!!!!!......HOW DID I KNOW THE SIGN HANGING FROM THE CANNON REALLY MEANT STAND BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (it was awesome)
Saw this version of AW in a little bar in Brampton during this tour. Stood about 5 ft from Jimmy while he played. Man, this guy put every ounce of himself into every note! Still have a couple of the picks he used that night, and got to chat; briefly, with him after the show. I play a bit of bass myself, but Jimmy has been a fave from way back! In BTO and AW, I got the bass bug because of him! R.I.P. , Jimmy!
Wow, Where the Heck did this Electric Jewel come from... What a great recording, the best Live Video I've seen and heard from the "Post 2000" April Wine Collection!! Where and when was this recorded and is there more. I'm guessing 2004ish... As always Jim sounded great but this really capture the great sound of the vocals and instruments so well. Thanks for the post, is there more from this show? Miss you Jim!
Where are some outtakes from electric jewels? It's too epic for there not to be SOME session tapes out there no? where in Canada in an insulated barn are these gems?
I would of loved to see Gary Moffet instead of Carl Dixson at this time. That would of been a badass lineup, Steve Lang when it was Mercer, Moffet, Greenway and Goodwyn was great but Jim Clench was better cause he sang.
we know you and jimmy are playing once more godbless you for your music because it is timeless
In 2006, I attended 21 April Wine concerts. Jim gave me free tickets for one of them. I was almost always in the front row. Great year!
ELECTRIC JEWELS....THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.......THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST UNDER RATED BAND EVER. ROCK ON CANADA.
Jimmy Clench - probably on of the most underrated / overlooked in rock. Top notch talent. RIP
I met this guy once before a show he's awesome
What an excellent Canadian band, that Mercer was BADASS on the drums !

He got so cute when he got older and bigger. Great bassist, good songwriter and singer. R.I.P. Jim Clench
Rest in peace.

Great song writer and musician . R.I. P. Jim
Jim just destroys this song in a good way, was lucky to see him perform it live before he passed.

i loved his voice since the beginning....slow poke, oowatanite, Baby Done Got Some Soul....
It's actually Myles Goodwyn on "Slow Poke" with his vocals slowed down in the studio.
At least I can say I met him, conversed with him briefly, and got his autograph! RIP Mr. Clench.

Saw these guys in the Melfort Saskatchewan curling rink. About 300 fans and the cannon. Nailed us with confetti. It was awesome

6 people who hate Rock And Roll. Love this song.
saw them in 2017
Awesome not a big diff frm now to I seventys when I saw you
Too bad Myles started the song about 55 bpms too slow... you can feel Brian trying to push the song in the rear to get it going...
Shit ya

TheHappynot who do you think is the better bass player between Jim and Steve. I think a tie. Both excellent bass players
April wines HEAVIEST song, Jim was such a powerhouse rock vocalist, April Wine could had such a different trajectory if Myles had just chilled out
Rest in peace.
