  • If you wake up with neck pain or a stiff neck, your first reaction should be to think that you muscles are too contracted. Probably, they are trying to protect you against something that they perceive as a threat.
    To relieve the neck pain and avoid that it lasts for days or weeks, you need
    1) to reeducate the brains by muscle relaxation exercises. In this video, I show you simple and safe neck pain exercises and neck stretches;
    2) to fix the causes of the muscle contraction. If you are working from home, you should typically look at the ergonomics of your chair, desk, etc. and at how frequently you take breaks. But if the issue is recurring, you should definitely consider a full scale posture correction program.
    Bear in mind that muscle pain never comes out of nowhere. What you do with your body (i.e. your posture) is most probably the issue, whether you are aware of it or not.
    Remember: if pain does not go away within 3 days, please consult your GP!
