Jack I truly can't tell you how much I appreciated this video tutorial. I've struggled with HDR maps since starting my mesh adventure, and this helped me SO much today. Thank you for your time on this excellent tutorial!
I've spent the last 4 days trying to make a satisfactory setup with even lighting on both sides, in Blender first, in Substance Painter after and was really about to settle for the 'close enough' ... ah, sweet taste of victory... thanks so much for the help, really ♥
Thank you so much for both of your tutorials Jack, I have really enjoyed watching them, you explain things very well and I can't wait to see more from you! :)
amazing tutorial.... you go straight to the point and that's something that I love about your videos. I've been wondering if there was any way to get some nice sun light on the back of my mesh, and now i finally do. Thank u!!
I have an old version of PS, is there anyways I can download this from you? The ones I'm finding for free out there aren't lighting the backside of my mesh
If you have an older version of photoshop, such as CS6, then this guide tool is not available. What I did was go View > Ruler. Change Ruler metric to percentage and not Inches. Not sure if this is needed for the grid part, but it was helpful for me to look at the numbers. Then go to View > New Grid. Select vertical or horizontal, which ever you want done first. Put your first vertical or horizontal line at 0%, repeat the process and do 25%, 75%, then 100%. Go back and do the other set of lines for vertical or horizontal. If you have the ruler visible on percentage, once you make a grid line you can drag others to their respective points on the ruler markers.
Thank you so much. i came here from a other video, i spend all day seaching for this. Easy to follow and works 100%.

Hi Thanks Jack but I could not save as an HDR in Photoshop, what am I doing wrong?
save it as openEXR

The option might not come up, but you should still be able to save it with the extension .HDR
