@angloedu5499 great systems, one of the vans I was travelling with in the Arctic last winter has Starlink. The Starlink satellite network doesn’t really extend that far north into Norway. But We still got decent coverage for remotely at high speeds.

No as in of any lights that are connected. We out scene lights on our van build an 99% of the time they are too bright for when at a site. We have the ability with our current “switch” to dim them via the app. And most times they are as dim as possible and provide great campsite lighting. But the unit we use now has no hardware switch which also isn’t great lol. I suppose you could add an inline dimmer to the sunbeam but we do enjoy the ability to use the app as well.

I know of an automation tech who always makes a 20cm diameter(8" for the metric deniers) loop of any wire where it enters a cabinet. With everything looped it looks tidy and should he have to modify the setup later, he's got a bit of wire to work with.
Got myself a Vevor Diesel-powered car heater recently, and are working on fitting it in my Citroen Berlingo Electric van.
(Old 2014 model, 22.5KWh battery, so range is kind of limited. And using the regular heater in the winter... limits it even more... )
I'm almost looking forwards to February when the herring starts appearing on the coast. Being able to have a WARM van to thaw out in periodically will be incredible. (I fish from one of bridges on the Atlantic Ocean Road)
I'm also fitting a 50Ah 12V battery to run it so that I don't kill the 12V 'starter' battery in the car.
(it's needed to connect the 300V battery pack to the motor management system. No 12V = no go)

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  8 месяцев назад

Yes I can definitely agree with the extra cable you can see from the cupboard. I did purposely leave quite a few slack areas and more or less there was enough space to do the rewiring just a few of them were a bit short.
Diesel heaters are definitely brilliant and very interesting to hear about a Citroen bingo electric van. What sort of range do you get on a 22.5kW battery
I definitely bet being able to go back to a warm van after fishing there, which sounds spectacular by the way would be nice!

Looks good - for your power switches for the system, an easy fix so that you can change the state on/off regardless of the switch position at the other panel is to replace the rocker switches with momentary switches connected to a latching relay which in turn will deliver the power to the ACC signal input on the Auxbeam 🙂. This way you don't need to run any extra cables to the dash.

Switches system with the two panels good idea though, by no means a dig at Auxbeam & realise help pay for adventures and that which look mega trips. The Garmin power switch is excellent had just over a year in truck and car is brilliant really good, car play or phone controlled or there navigation units has trigger inputs I think a good product. Can link with physical switches but that’s going down the whole NMEA route which is amazing as you probably know.

Never heard of the Garmin power switch just had to Look it up. Looks like a really good bit of kit.
Auxbeam have been helpful for a supply of kit over the last few years, and generally I think aspects like there switch panels are pretty cost-effective and useful. I do know a few people who use the fuse boards to control their vans.
Collaborations like this are great for keeping costs down on trips, but also I generally believe in this a bit of equipment. And with two years experience which predecessor I am very happy.

Thank you I have a real love playing with electric and plenty more electrical videos on the channel.
My van is a rear wheel drive transit which in winter conditions is an especially good for vans as the majority of their weight when loaded is over the rear axle. The opposite to cars where front wheel drive is often better in winter because the engine / weight is over the front wheels.

All the best on your search and yes a lot of vans are front wheel drive because it means you don’t need the driveshaft or rear differential so the rear load space can be increased. As an example on the Ford Transit you get an extra 10 cm of height in the rear of the van hold area if you have the front wheel drive model.

Circuit 1-2 are 30A, 3-8 are 20A each but labelled up 5A, 10A and 20A to prevent the end user from going over the board max wattage. Which is 720W at 12v. I don’t really see the layout as too much of an issue. A few of my low Amp circuits act as just signals to higher power circuits via a relay.
As for price, I would says the US $ price is so much better than the UK £ we get. But there isn’t too much comparable systems around on the uk market. The single auxbeam panel version can be around £130 on some uk places . Alternatives like CBE brand are £350+
