    Great content!
Since you are a setter yourself, this feels applicable to ask; How hard do you think it is to become a route setter in the current day and age (especially looking at the idea that most gyms aren't very profitable and cannot devote funding towards trainee setters and arguably most (but not all) head setters seem to be very passive when asked to teach and mentor newbies)? It mostly feels like it is a competition as to who can be-friend the head setter the most, rather than a somehow equal opportunity scope. I know this will vary country to country, but yeah.

Hello Matt! Your question it’s a hard one to answer I will try my best 🤙🏻
Perhaps one day I will create a video sharing my opinion on this topic! As you mentioned, it really depends on the country you're in... there are so many differences. In some places, experience may not matter as much and you could land a great position, while in other places, experience is crucial and you may not even get paid.
So, what would I do now? I would ask myself how much I am willing to sacrifice for a position. I would honestly assess my climbing level and determine if I can handle a variety of styles for every color of the gym where I wish to set routes. If it still seems challenging to secure a spot, I would consider moving elsewhere. If I am prepared to make significant sacrifices, I might even consider going overseas. I know this may seem like a generic response, but it's the reality when there are many climbers vying for just a few route setting positions at each gym.
It's unfortunate that in many places, skills are not always considered, and meritocracy seems to reward those who are nice rather than those who have been passionate about climbing and have demonstrated it with a solid level.
Keep pushing yourself in climbing, consider competing to challenge yourself, and best of luck, man! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Feel free to reach out anytime.
