Out of the current ‘big kids on the blocks’ animes the two I’m most into are Spy X Family and Chainsaw Man. I particularly loved the SXF movie that came out this year seeing it in cinema was a highlight. I don’t know yet if it concluded with the movie but I also highly recommend Kaguya Sama Love Is War, a really funny and sometimes emotional take on the school romance genre; The English dub is the must watch version because the English narrator is so much more funnier than the original with his script changes and line delivery
I'll start with recommending some anime that jive with your favourites: Stiens;Gate - ReZero : Another brilliant take on travelling through time, and as it takes place in a fantasy setting, you also get a really interesting world and characters alongside it - Link Click : This is my favourite take on time travel in an anime other than Steins Gate. While it originates from china (Not what you'd call an "Anime") It still provides a very well done and interesting episodic story that wraps up in an incredible finale. Kinda like Violet Evergarden~ Cowboy Bebop -Great Pretender : This one's a brilliant heist anime that takes place in a global setting with very creative methods, and incredible visuals and art direction -Space Dandy : Coming from the same director, Space dandy takes you on a trip with a crew goofing around across the universe. While this one's more light hearted than Bebop as one could tell from the name, It still makes for a damn fun time with some of the greatest animation to grace a TV show Kino's Journey - Mushishi: If you like the atmospheric nature of Kino's Journey, You'd for SURE fall in love with this one. It's about a guy wandering about seeing how beings called "mushi" are affecting people and their lives. Pure vibes - Girl's Last tour : this one's kinda the same too. In this case, you follow two girls in their journey roaming about in a post apocalyptic world, just living their everyday lives trying to survive and have a good time Violet Evergarden -Frieren : Just like how Violet discovers emotions and what it means to love, Here we follow the titular named elf "Frieren", as she goes on a journey to understand humans and get to know them better Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (I haven't actually watched FMAB, so i'm just gonna recommend shows that I'd consider to be the complete package) - March comes in like a lion : My favourite anime. It has the rare ability to make you feel every emotion possible in it's run. With come of the greatest writing and visual flair I've seen in all of anime, this truly is what you can call a masterpiece. - Planetes : Set in the near future where space travel has become commonplace for humanity, This anime talks about what the menial jobs would be like for the ones working in space in this era. With it's episodic nature and an overarching plot, this is basically violet evergarden in space, but this time with a crew of workers. Easily one of my favourite sci-fi anime after cowboy bebop Some Shows that I'd HIGHLY recommend other than the show based recommendations would be (I just like these ones a lot and i want more people to watch it) - Vinland Saga : A brilliantly written historical anime set in viking era scandinavia with one of the greatest finales i've seen in anime, easily rivaling cowboy bebop as one of my favourites - Mob Psycho 100: One of the greatest anime of this past decade with a heart grounded in honesty with some of the greatest action animation the industry has to offer - Jujutsu kaisen : It's been the current biggest talk in the world of anime for a reason. it's that much fun and awesomeness Some phenomenal movies that you might've missed : - Redline : Mario kart on LSD - Jin Roh : From the creator of the Ghost in the shell movie, a take on the little red riding hood drenched in the setting of an alternative post war japan - Proamre : The most anime an anime film has ever been - Children of the sea : One of the prettiest films I've seen. The title of the movie should be enough to give you an idea of what the film is about (: - Inu-oh : An alternative take on historical japan where rock music was a prevalent part of japanese music. A very fun film with amazing songs to go with it, All in all which makes for a very enjoyable time (: Spent quite a bit of time writing all this, so if you watch any of these I hope you enjoy them as much as I did ~~ Have a great time with the anime you''ve been recommended from everyone
For my takes on anime, i recommend these 3 first. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, and either Gundam 00 which the settings takes on anno domini year also known as the future on our earth / Gundam Wing which is the America first taste of gundam on tv at the time. Or the fifth one if you watch both Gundam, is Death Note.
@@genbu3834 cowboy bebop and FMA are both my absolute favourites. Death Note was the first anime I ever watched. Not seen much Gundam so will happily watch some.
I’ll post in list form to make it a bit easier: - Neon genesis Evangelion (also check out the film, end of eva, after watching the series) - Gurren Lagann - Chainsaw man - Code geass - Mob psycho 100 - Hunter x Hunter - Vinland saga - Jojo bizarre adventure - Cyberpunk edgerunners - Heavenly delusion - Berserk (1997 version) - Look back (film) - Devil man crybaby - Deadman wonderland The vast majority of the above are one season long or quick to get through and my reason for recommending is because they do a great job at exploring mature / complex themes & ideas and / or have a unique art style and charm which is holy unique to the show which makes them engaging & a joy to watch!
