Shortly after some brake work my dash started to light up like a Christmas tree randomly. Thanks for the vid - my brake fluid was low. All the lights are off now. Life is good.
Great vid started off with the obvious, but we who are not mechanics or don't dabble under the hood would not consider this obvious. This was my problem. As soon as I heard check the fluid level, I went straight out and did it and boy was it low. Immediately the light went out after I filled it to the max. I hope other tubers understand that what is obvious to you might not be obvious to the rest of us. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I have honda fit 2010 and saw the hand brake light came on and it won't turn off. Found out that it was the brake fluid level close to minimum. I filled up the fluid the light turned off! Awesome!
Great it's fixed. I suggest you monitor over the next couple of days. Either brakes are worn down or you have a leak. Check for stains at the 4 tires...
@@DIYAutoworksNG You mean replace the MASTER CYLINDER...you said so yourself "if sensor is bad whole master cylinder has to be replaced" that's so much easier said than done and pretty costly...great job Honda,
If you unplug the electrical connector on the master cylinder, and the brake light goes out, you can easily test the hand brake without having to take apart the console.
great video hard to believe this but i got a autel scanner in and scanned the system and now my break light on my dash stays on. how can this happen is it just a fluke. wierd. any suggestions
You should test it to be absolutely sure. Could also be a broken parking brake switch. I tested the parking brake switch in the video. Sometimes, the brake fluid sensor is integrated into the brake master cylinder and you'll have to change the whole unit😡. This is the case in the 2003 - 2007 Accord.
Hi, I drive an Acura and I have my VSA light, ABS and Brake light on. My Brahe isn’t spongy and my fluid levels are good without Lusaka. What could be wrong
Great video! U seem to be very knowledgeable about cars. I have a Honda Element w the same issue I will check the sensor as u said. Now do u know anything about abs sensors? I replaced all 4 abs sensors on my Element and the ABS light won't go off. Do you have any idea why? Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot for the compliment! For the ABS issue, I would recommend you scan the car with a scanner that has ABS capability. The result will tell you what the issue is. Could be poor contacts, broken circuitry, a defective pump etc. You will have a pretty good picture once the scan is done. Feel free to reach out with scan results. Happy to help.
My parking brake light on the dash stays on even if if engage or disengage it. I just checked it with the multimeter and it beeps even if I engage it or disengage it. Do you think the switch is the problem? The car is good on brake fluid
If you checked the continuity well at the parking brake switch and its there engaged or not, I'd say its the switch. I hope the parking brake leave the switch free when it's depressed?
I think speed sensors will rather cause an ABS/VSC light or the like. I'm not certain of the brake light, except there are some manufacturers that include the brake light in the speed sensor circuit.
I used Honda CRV 2003, the brake light is always on when the parking brake is disengaged. I have checked brake oil level an found okay. Just tested the brake switch and found okay. Please what else can I check to fix it? Again you mentioned parking brake sensor too, does it apply to Honda CRV too. If yes where can I locate it?
After changing my shock absorber and brake pad, my parking brake light and tyre air pressure light would not go off. my brake fluid is at the maximum level and my tyre air gauge is ok. what can be the problem for Toyota RAV4 2004 model
Did you do this yourself or it was at a shop? It's likely a TPMS sensor was damaged as well as something the brake system since you say it started after the repair.
So you said to watch the response of the brake pedal - if the parking brake light stays illuminated and the pedal is spongy, what do you think could be the problem? Any suggestions on what to check would be helpful. Fluid seems okay with no leaking visible under the hood and I just checked one wheel for leaking at the caliper and brake pad width and it still looks good with no leaking there.
@@DIYAutoworksNG I’m not sure how old, but maybe three months ago the brake light was flashing then went away after I topped off with some fluid. I think I will try bleeding the lines for any air pockets first then see if it makes a difference. Thank you!
@@jandreshernandez1657 yeah I ended up finding a leak in the brake line at the back of the car. I had someone else press the brakes while I looked under the car and it was spraying out. I just took the brake line out that had a hole, replaced it, and bled the brakes. Everything was fixed after I did that
@@ldsanela wowww you are lucky to have found the solution, I will try to check possible leaks tomorrow and see if I run with your same luck, you are very kind to share your experience
My 06 Accord has the brake light on in the dash. I tryed disconnecting the brake sensor and the light doesn't come off at all. Do you have any idea what it would be?
By brake sensor you mean the brake fluid level sensor? Have you checked the switch for the handbrake? The one I tested with the multimeter in the video.
Hi Nice video, my honda accord 2013 has the brake light and abs light on. It used to be only the brake light but now it's both. Both lights pop up often on the dashboard and at times they don't. I have changed the abs relay but the issue still persists
Thanks for the compliment. For the ABS light you'll need a scan with a scanner that has access to the ABS module. The brake light should not be beyond the things discussed in this video.

Looks like a fluke in my opinion. Don't see how scanning a car can turn on the brake light.
U r the best
When you check the brake oil does the vehicle need to be running or that it has driven previously?
Thanks. Car should be off. Doesn't need to be driven prior.
So what happens if your parking brake is working fine, and the level fluid is good. But it is still showing the brake on the dashboard ?
The brake fluid level sensor is likely bad.

Some time it could be fuse box under the dash change mine and it went off
When you were unplugging the sensor on the master cylinder, did you have the car running or just the key turned to the on position?
The car should be totally off while unplugging.
What if the light stays on when the fluid level sensor and park brake switch are both disconnected? Where do you start to look?
Depending on the car, it could mean burnt brake light bulb, ABS fault, worn brake pads, bad brake light switch etc.
