I'm Italian, and it is already the third tm that I buy. I recently purchased the 144 2020 and I did a lot of tests with aftermarket parts .. The best current compromise is Hgs (tm up to 2018), with PC 304 silencer (slightly longer than the original). the bike gained in the gear change and in the highs compared to the standard scalvini (in my opinion lower). Beyond this I have adapted / connected a boyesen Rad valve of a cr 125 2002, the bike has taken more torque in revving up but was losing a bit in high revs, so I put a Vforce 4r that holds much more gear than the boyesen . I also put a more compressed Vhm and the bike is really going strong.I use map 1 with 13/51 ratios. I have videos on my channel if you are interested .. for the slopes that I attend it is a good setting.
fun to see that after some mods on my 300 (supermoto) i ended with an HGS enduro pipe with pc304 silencer too 😄 i understoud the 300cc isn't made to gain more HP but much torque and the complete 304 isn't Perfect. you loose so much torque just for an increase of 1000t/mn and a littler more hp at mid/hight rev. the HGS is soooooo much fun at low/mid on the road.
I drool over the TM 144MX every year when they are released! I'd like to roll one of these into Pro Circuit and tell Mitch to give me the good stuff.....
Yamaha copied TM's blue rims - TM has been running blue rims for the better part of two decades now, and will never have the same swag as a TM as well...I've had both 2016+ era, and the TM's are so much more refined, and the ergos are top notch resulting in comfortable, smooth, and accurate riding and maneuvering. Love this brand and my new TM Racing EN300ES - I don't believe I will be riding anything other than Italian designed engines like TM, Beta, SWM, or AJP for the rest of my life. Next bike will be a big bore four stroke and my choices are gonna be a TM Racing MX450Fi - Twin Pipe, Beta 480RR - Race Edition, SWM RS500R, AJP PR7 - Race, or last but not least the beautiful AJP SPR 510R EN. They all have a different character, high performance, and a solid and dependable reliability. Time to start "nickel-and-diming" my way back to another new bike - it will take awhile, but I now need a 2 and 4 stroke so I can ride about ANYTHING at anytime! ;)
If the TM came with a 92 tooth rear sprocket, MXA would say they put a 93 on and it made it so much better . Is that written in your contract somewhere? Every bike MXA tested since 1979 somehow needed one tooth bigger on the rear sprocket
stop imagine and try it you will be surprised 😉 never had any issus to find pieces for mine. except my 2003 perimetrical braking systeme cause it was limited edition blackdream
currently saving for this bike, the fact there hand made and not mass made by machines interests me, i wish they had a max yearly output but not sure there giving one lol
Nice bike, nice test, nice 125 Pro. I miss those daze, bring them back. 4T are no longer overweight POS, let's race engine size regardless of strokes. 250cc vs 250cc. Bring back the 125 class for new pros, and NO FACTORY BIKES or riders. Allow 360-400cc 2T to race against the 450F. News Flash. A 450 IS AN OPEN CLASS BIKE... DUHHH some when are 250cc bikes supposed to race against THAT? Pure foolishness is what that is. KTM WE LOVE YOU for not giving up on the team two stroke, braaaap. They already have a lot that punches a 250 just to 300, and I'm sure with 1 dinner if yesterday could have a 400cc just in place. The chassis of all modern bikes are exceptional and minor changes to Staunton l suspension would make that work. Braaaap on to TM, KTM, Husqvarna, and Yamaha for not letting the premix crowd die a graceless death.
"...because we are Americans...." 🤔 , ummmm ok, I'm not going to get into the genetics of Northern Europeans vs. Southern Europeans , but I get your point. Hey, Italians have their quirks, and those bikes used to be weirdly set-up. Still WFO powerbands at TM, but what the heck - it's an exotic! BTW - that FXR color combo and SIDI boots really rocks! Nice! Thanks for the test, really enjoyed it.
Bought a ten ten 140 r ten times cheaper and all the torque ...but shocks are no good other than that quick start loads of power ...ten ten all the way
Loads off power think a 140 makes like 16hp these 144 will make 40 ish totally different game jump youre pit bike like these ride that thing it will snap in half
Nah, not necessarily. I'm disabled and own a new TM EN300...I got it for a STEAL man, and am so happy I pulled the trigger. Turned down the new Husqvarna TX300i for this and I'm not dissapointed - especially since I am already used to KYBs from my yamaha's beforehand. Just need to find a dealership and get leftovers, and SAVE for something you love.
You don't see them so much simply because they don't make many of them. More than half the bikes they build are the street legal 125 supermotos that sell very well here in Italy and the 450 supermoto for the track. It's kinda rare to see a Tm Mx on the track even here in italy
We got a full tm dealer a hour north of us he been in business for a long time an we have lots of local tracks close to him an everyone here says they r way over priced even left overs
why would Tm be dumb and ktm smart ?? ktm make just a big 125 and you call it smart ? i call it lazy and disrespectfull to customers. Tm make a good job to match everything on the bike. its the same for every other CC they build a new engine
Everyone except MXA literally says KTM's issue with the 150 is that it's just a big bore. MXA says it's smart. But there own magazine test says it isn't lol
Ya, I almost made the mistake of buying one back in early 90's. It's just too " EXOTIC " now as it was then. Save your money. After owning it the charm wears off.
I get parts for my TM shipped from CA to NY within 3 to 5 days typically...they are far easier to score than backordered parts for my KTMs and there are a few dealerships within a couple hours drive of most spots. These bikes are beyond legit and the charm of having the closest thing to a factory 2-stroke bike never wears off.
@@oldasdirtracingproductions5983 thanks for the info. A friend of mine bought a TM 144MX 2021 in NY, and the dealership there will change fork and shock springs, gearing and other parts for him. I bet it does feel like a factory 125, except for Grant Langstons, he liked his power band like a 250 2 stroke
seems like slower testers had some issues twice

witcher 13 nah I’ll stick to my yamis and my kawi
No such thing as 'SSS' forks on a TM, that's just a marketing term used by Yamaha using the same basic forks. In reality they are all KYB 'AOS' forks.
I'll take the Bubba Stewart 05 Kawi 125 with a Lectron Carb.

$1200 more than a KTM 150 and dealers are few and far between. Hard to open your wallet on that basis alone.
The suspension is worth it alone over the ktm garbage
Hardly are they? Used ones are way cheaper there is two in my area one 2016 for 3800 and a 2020 for 4500 when a ktm would be way more

TM's have had an electronic powervalve for a decade, wtf are you saying ECU had to get smarter cause now the PV is electronic
These things are nice only if they’re tuned right if not they big like crazy and not even someone who knows two strokes ride these if not
