The sound, smell, and instant explosive power delivery of the two stroke... nothing else like it in the world. Great stuff.
It's refreshing to see someone who really knows how to ride a big bore stroker. I see WAY to many videos of people saying they can "rip it" on a 500, only to see them trying to ride it like 4 stroke.
I would suggest it to any beginner

i bought this for my 5 year old cousin... he loves it!
500s are for scrubs. I had a yz 100000cc turbo with nitrous but i mixed two stroke with cereal on accident, blew up my motor because I put milk in the gastank.

I'm in a position to get KXF 450 or Kx 500, and I'm going old school with the KX 500.
I don't care if its harder to ride, I want to know I'm riding the most hardcore dirt bike ever made, at least when i get off the KX 500, I will have that feeling. With the KXF, I'll feel like it held my hand and wiped my ass.

Mo So think so? The CR has pretty unusable power. Most of it is lost to wheel spin. If the KX really is a stronger bike I'm sure it'd be wasted power.

That was like poetry in motion, I absolutely love these old 500cc 2 strokes. Drove a 90's CR500 on a local lake at winter on the ice. Totaly nuts but fun as hell. :D

One of the best production bikes ever built. And this is basically a modified over and over 1988 KX500 with the biggest difference with the USD forks that came on the 1989 model all the way to 2004. A great machine and zId race this over almost all the new bikes.

There is nothing more refreshing then the crisp sound of a big bore two stroke with high octane gasoline and motul burning in the morning air. That's a clean KX 500, they don't make em that good anymore.
justin uranus first bike was a 1979 Suzuki RM80... Loud beast but old 2 stroke tech and the raw feel of that bike cannot be replicated. Always felt you were going faster than you actually were when you were on the pipe lol

Man I miss the dez. Moved out to the Denver area back in 1998 from the high desert of California. That sand was friggin awesome. Bought a Service Honda 500 about 7 years ago and only once got to use it in the dez. Freaked me out how fast and nimble that thing was. The desert was the perfect place for it.
A must have dirtbike for all enthusiasts!

I wish I still had my KX500. I bought it because of Destry and Team Green back in 1998. I will never forget my first ride out at Sycamore Creek with it. I hit 1st gear and no problem. I hit 2nd gear and thought okay It has some pickup but no big deal. Well I hit 3rd and holly sh!t you have to hold on for dear life. It was such a rush, feeling the tires skim across the top of the wash or coming to a turn and powering out of it like never before. Now I'm looking for an enduro that can give me that same feeling. I want something that is street legal but can handle a desert race as well. Great video.

I rode with some older guys a long time ago, bought my kx 125 brand new in 87 and the dudes i rode with had kx 500, and a yz 490. I was always in the back but some of the best times of my life were on the dirt.

My buddy has one, and I rode it years ago. They are absolute BEAST!!! Going from a 125, to the 500 was like going from a Yugo, to a Lamborghini!!! It was WAY to much bike for my skill level at the time. Even now, I’d have to be REALLY cautious!!!

Abbott would ride our local MX tracks around phoenix, strong rider, dude would wip it over large table tops in 15 mph winds. His speed was that of a local pro that would definitely qualify for nationals.

Actually learned to ride on a bored out 1989 KX500-my 12 yr old brother traded a mountain bike to a guy who had hurt himself on the KX and wanted to get rid of it...we could barely crank it; & the kick back would about break your leg...but the vibration, sound and raw power was addictive-miss that feeling.

i never broke a kick starter on my CR500 but i did have the kickstart lever slip off my boot and run up the side of my leg a few times and holy cow was that painful
Oh I know!!! I had my foot slip-off at bottom of stroke and the kick-lever shank me like that when I went to kick-over the K5 when I was first gonna buy it from this other guy. And like it shanked it to where sub-cutaneous fat was showing and everything! But I'm all like I can't bitch-out here in front of this other guy. I'm like "I'll be alright, just give me a second here." Resting my head on the seat for a few. He's all "ya wanna borrow my boot to kick it over?" to which I reply "Yeah... that's probably a good idea." And that was it... I was in love the moment I kicked her over! Unholy power...YESSSS!!!
And I NEVER EVER tried to kick her over without an MX Boot on ever again. Bump That!

TheJoesmoe1987 raced a kx 500 with my crf 450 and it was one on the best races ever, I beat him but only only low end and too end. Mid range is just nasty on that bike

Even a bone stock 250 vs 80 2T is like comparing a Silverback guerilla to a 10 year old boy. The built 500 here is like a fuckin whole troop of guerillas that are on the warpath. It goes REAL good.
it's gorgeous and the suspension is dialed in nice and so is the whole bike THAT is pure power at it's best!!!

Damn this dude can really put that horsepower to the track. That rear tire tried its best to pass up the front but he stayed on it constantly and wrestled it to go the right direction the whole time. Dudes an animal on that bike. Most people can't use all the power of the KX500 and CR500 (including me) but I know some good aggressive riders that run them well but this dude is using every ounce of that motor. Good job man but I'd hate to see the violence when it outwrestles you one day. Most pros don't have that violent of a ride.
