Ricky was an absolute monster on a 125. I got to watch him live at Buds Creek in '97 and obviously watched him dominate until he retired. So glad he's still around and involved heavily in the sport that he re-invented. GOAT!
He rides that so perfectly. Shifting is on point. You see most of today's 4-stroke guys get on a smoker and really not keep it in the meat like Ricky does. Perfection right here:-)

What Bones said was probably true too, Mitch would re hire and they’d probably win a championship again, almost a thought in RCs mind, almost, it would be even sicker than Dungeys return to see the GOAT come back and school the young guns, I bet the crowds would triple as well if he rode that bike, the world and internet would go mental….
Mitch has his problems talking with people too. I tried to help him, but that is why he is out of stock with 2-stroke pipes. He treated a good friend of mine who could have made them for him with his state of the art shop, like he was not worth talking to. He can stay out of stock as long as he wants if he does not know how to talk with people.

When they drove up, Glen Helen bowed it's head & dropped to a knee. These men are legends in this sport. I'm honored to know all three of them. If you are young, or not, and unfamiliar with their achievements and contributions to Motocross, Supercross, and Off-Road Racing, I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that in their absence the bike you ride/race off-road today would be very different.
Not really an RC fan but he is truly the GOAT of motocross. In Supercross, I'm still going with Jeremy. Overall though, Carmichael is the best ever. No questions about it.
I think the GOAT debate may never be settled between Ricky and Stefan. I can also throw a spanner here... Jeffrey should be in that discussion as well.

Two of the big bike series, he won all 24 motos, and missed a 3rd perfect season by one moto. RC had a different motivation that he rest of us, and I figured it out in an interview (Whiskey throttle show), when he said, "I was terrified to lose, scared to death. I know no sport psychologist would say that is a good thing, but that is the way I was.". He was scared to lose, like we were sacred to crash on a big triple we have never cleared yet. What kind of environment would there have to be in grade school to make RC terrified to lose? He as a short, fat, red headed ginger kid,--and they all got bullied. He got bullied in school until he started winning amateur championships, and the bullying stopped. School bullying motivated RC to be the GOAT of MX. Isn't that ironic? Should we tell the teacher about it? :)

Watching RC get back on a KX 125 after all the years gone by brought a smile to my face. He really is The GOAT, and obviously, still fast as hell!!! He still looks like he'd hand out ass whuppins to today's riders. I never imagined when the '97 season started that that short, pudgy kid would go on to dominate like he did. He's the best
RC is also heavily involved in the development and more particularly testing of the new incoming Triumph MX machines so he had to lay off the beer & Burger King….
He clearly still has it. I vividly remember one of his first SX’s with Mitch. He was whipping that bike SO hard that drain plug was clearly visible for quite a way up in the stands at Pontiac. This video was a real pleasure. I get the feeling it was pretty special for Mitch and RC as well👍
I was a kid when I saw RC and Stewart on kawasaky and I had a lot of magazine clippings in my notebooks at school! Now i am a grown man with family and a father and seeing the GOAT on a kx 125 again makes me feel the sweetness and nostalgic of that good old days when me and my friends dream'd about having our firts bikes! cheers to that 🍻
Next level that was 24 years ago. Of course it could be tuned better. It runs great, but everything can be improved. "I don't think it can be tuned better" was always said before the next bike that was tuned better. :)
I remember getting on track with RC at Dade City in the late 80’s for a practice session, after watching him ride I knew immediately that MX was going to be a hobby for me! 😂

Ricky Carmichael is an amazing guy. Not only is he the GOAT as a racer, but since retiring he’s effectively leveraged his knowledge, skills and abilities to his advantage (and ultimately ours) as an expert commentator, consultant and ambassador. I really like it when he’s the commentator for races being aired on TV. He has the best insights about what’s going on on the track, technology, etc. His involvement in Triumph’s development of off-road motorcycles bodes well for Triumph’s success. Count me in as one of Ricky’s fans.
@motoing32 No one will be able to get James on a bike again, he's back around the sport but he's done with riding... it's a shame cause with his name and someone like 'DirtShark' filming and doing the edits, he could make a career just off having fun on a bike and doing 1 or 2 freeride videos in the hills each year.

I was happy when I saw videos of him looking a little chubby and enjoying life after he "retired". Least he deserves if you ask me... I got goosebumps right now when I looked to my left and seen this exact same bike leaned against the tree in my yard at our trailer! So proud of what it stands for, most fun bike I've ever ridden!
watching him ride is a thing of beauty- I was a migrate fan and had a hard time accepting Ricky- but on sheer will alone he is the GOAT. blessed to have lived through his entire career and the stuff with Stewart was the best motocross will ever be!
i had the 99 kx 125 with the 99 splitfire graphics, gold talon hubs and black excel rims with the thor gear and white tech 8's. This sound track just takes me right back to my teens. dam i wish i still had that bike. RC is the goat.

Anyone else ever noticed that a 2stroke coming at you sounds like it's fixing to fall apart. But the exhaust note after it gets by you gives you goose bumps. Always been a 2stroke person.

I love this video! I don't care what anyone says, the '90s had some of the sickest team graphics & gear. This bike looked amazing & sounded incredible! One of my all time favorite team bikes was team Honda in '95-'96. McGrath always looked tge best IMO. I also loved the the PJ1 Yamaha team graphics in mid '90s. The all black & yellow looked sick.
God damn this dated me right quick. Worked with Mitch, Bones, Jim Perry ETC back in the late 90's for close to 8 years at PC. Moved on to other projects. Haven't seen those guys since......Crazy how time flies.

watching him ride is a thing of beauty- I was a migrate fan and had a hard time accepting Ricky- but on sheer will alone he is the GOAT. blessed to have lived through his entire career and the stuff with Stewart was the best motocross will ever be!

i had the 99 kx 125 with the 99 splitfire graphics, gold talon hubs and black excel rims with the thor gear and white tech 8's. This sound track just takes me right back to my teens. dam i wish i still had that bike. RC is the goat.

I remember like it was yesterday watching Jeremy McGrath dominating & all of the sudden you see this young cat Ricky Carmichael tearing it up in the 125s. Greatest era of racing hands down! 🤟💨🔥
Anyone else ever noticed that a 2stroke coming at you sounds like it's fixing to fall apart. But the exhaust note after it gets by you gives you goose bumps. Always been a 2stroke person.

I love this video! I don't care what anyone says, the '90s had some of the sickest team graphics & gear. This bike looked amazing & sounded incredible!
One of my all time favorite team bikes was team Honda in '95-'96. McGrath always looked tge best IMO.
I also loved the the PJ1 Yamaha team graphics in mid '90s. The all black & yellow looked sick.

God damn this dated me right quick. Worked with Mitch, Bones, Jim Perry ETC back in the late 90's for close to 8 years at PC. Moved on to other projects. Haven't seen those guys since......Crazy how time flies.
