    When I was a beginner, this rack would've overwhelmed me.

  • @sonicaddiction

    Love the “fixed rack” idea! I think it’s kind of easy to be overwhelmed with all the possibilities in vcv rack so this looks like a good way to amend some of that. :)

    I love this idea of a fixed Patch, I'm gonna try this. Its like having a Eurorack setup that I can approach and try different things every time I approach it, without worrying about setting up a new set of modules every time. Thanks for this video and inspiration. God bless you! 🙂🙏🏻❤

    I would also be interested in a video (maybe a fixed rack) for creating heavy glitch patches in the style of Richard Devine. I love his music and particularly his sound design.

      imo this is hella overkill and wouldn't fit in a large variety of hardware beginner-sized racks. i'm still going through the video but i'd love to know what this will all be used for, cause it seems bloated.

    It seems like some of the modules you've used aren't available any more or don't work in the new version. Any chance you'll revisit this, or recommend an updated beginner friendly fixed rack?

      Hi! Only the MB module is currently not in the library but everything else should work. The Fundamental collection did get an update, but all of the modules are there. Have a look here if you need some help with them - omricohen.gumroad.com/l/vcv2fundamental

    Hey Omri! I’m following along to build this rack and some of the modules are missing. The ones that are missing I will list below and what I used in place of them!
    VCO-1(Functional VCO by Squinky Labs)
    VCO-2(WT-VCO by VCV, closest by appearance)
    SS-1 & SS-2 (unsure what to use in place of)
    I’m building this one while watching your video by hand, and it’s only been a year since this video released but the look of vcv’s adsr and random functions are wider and take up more space on the bottom row, so it doesn’t line up with the rest of the patch.
    Are the substitutions for what I couldn’t find good? Is there something I can use in place of ss-1 and ss-2?
    Thank you so much for your tutorials, they have been super helpful in learning and building patches!

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  Год назад +2

      Hi! Yeah, there were a few updates since this video but VCO 1 is basically the VCV VCO, VCO 2 is the WT VCO, and the SS1 and 2 are the sequentialt switches from VCV. If you want, feel free to email me you rpatch and I'll have a look :) You can send it here omri.musicohen(at)gmail.com

    11:29 Honestly, I don't really understand what this send and return loop is all about. What does it do? Why is it better than simply inserting an effect, say, reverb, to the audio path?

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  2 года назад +3

      Well, when using an effect as a send effect, you still have the original signal unprocessed. You can also use the same effect for multiple voices at different levels. When you use an effect as a part of the chain, you will have to use multiple instances of it if you want multiple voices effected, and the original sound will not exist anymore, you will have only the processed signal. One is not better than the other but you can take advantage of both according to your needs. I personally prefer having effects as a part of the chain so each voice is unique and I can also mess around with the effects, especially in modular.

    One question, at 12:30, the clock seems much faster than 159 BPM.. Is this a visual bug or am I missing something? Thanks!

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  2 года назад +1

      No no, that's not a bug :) In the right click menu you can choose a multiplication so I have it set to multiplied by 4 and I get 16th notes.

    Hallo Omri :) . I have a problem and dont know how to solve it yet. I got a pitch information and if the pitch is below a certain level other things should be triggered. I need to set this pitch level somehow (?)

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  3 года назад

      Hi! Well, for this you will need to use a comparator. It will compare the pitch information (in this case) with a certain level (the low notes) and will output a gate you can use to trigger other things.
