I get mine done tomorrow.....my previous ultrasound was normal.....they think it’s definitely my gallbladder and I’m just ready for surgery because i can’t eat and have lost a ton of weight
Rachel Greene thank you I appreciate that! I actually just got home from it. I’m incredibly nauseous and almost passed out upon sitting up from it and the hour drive home (my mom drove me thankfully) I almost threw up several times, ugh hoping it goes away quick. I took some anti nausea medicine so I hope it kicks in fast
Had my scan today. It was not bad like an mri. I basically was on a table with a camera positioned over my abdomen, not in a tube like the mri. Took 2 hours, didn't feel the nuclear meds when injected except my arm did.turn a bright red, which I was told is normal. I did get very nauseous when he injected the med to make my gallbladder contract, thankfully only last about 15 minutes. So other than the inconvenience of laying there for 2 hours and the nausea, I'd say it was a very easy procedure and not to worry.
I'm getting one tomorrow, the only thing I worry about is I have a bad back, being on that table for 2 hours!! My back can't even do a 45 min cat scan :( I have lymes and they are trying to rule out a bunch of things that's going wrong with me. Good luck to everyone that is getting this scan and I hope all goes well with you all :)
I'm getting mine Monday...what worrys me is the chest pressure Rachel Greens said about..since i have costcochondritis, my chest is almost always sored ....How did yours came out ?????????????????????????????????????????????????
@@southerncalifornia3155 mine came out well, the scan showed my gallbladder stopped working. I have had it out now for a few months now. No chest pressure for the scan just slight pain in the gallbladder area. When it was taken out is where I felt the pain from all the air. Mostly in my collarbone area and upper back as the air moved upward. After surgery I came home and cleaned my house, 0 pain from that, the air on the other hand was the worst of it. It will subside after 2 days or so.
@@RachelGreene it came back normal. But the second part my stomach felt like it got lit on fire. They had me finish it. I ended up vomiting.... Turns out im allergic to the stuff they use in the second part. I had to go to the ER because i had hives all over, my chest was tight, and i was extremely light headed i couldnt walk. I fell every time i tried.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I had my HIDA scan done today. I didn't have to get into a tube though, it was a portable machine on wheels and a plate thing attached to an arm was placed close to my abdomen. I didn't feel anything with the injections so I'm thankful for that! I had to drink Boost after an hour and then complete the next hour. I'm still waiting on results though.
I've been getting sick every day for two weeks. Along with pain on my right side that radiates up to my shoulder blade. Doctor found no gallstones or sludge but they want to do a hida scan. I'm really nervous..
Im getting my next week, ive been having problems with a big pain i get by my ribs and back. I was always told it was my gallbladder but onoy gave me morphine and send me home. I got sonogram done, MRI, i mean every test they could and everything normal which to me, that pain isnt normal, so i was in a diet. No spicy, no greesy foods, no dairy, i mean horrible lol i dont like diets. Im claustrophobic and not happy about being there for 2 hrs without moving. But what did they tell u it was? Did they had to remove ur gallbladder?
@karlachavez9736 I found a doc that cared and did a test where it shows if ur gallbladder actually works and found out mine wasnt working at all, thats why i has a huge pain.
Not every facility has you laying down with the scanner the whole time. I'm going in for one and I'll be getting the scans and able to get up and then return for the next scans.
I had a terrible reaction to the barium swallow study I had done made my stomach hurt so bad couldn’t 💩 for two weeks never again not sure if I’ll get this done or just cancel it 🤷♀️
Tomorrow is my day. I brought up the fact that I have interstitial Cystitis. I have to urinate frequently. Of course I know not to drink after midnight. I felt like I was the only person ever to ask about this, but I know this might be a concern for some people. Suggestions please?? Helpful video!!!!
Thank you so much for the quick info on the subject, you explained it really well! Were you able to eat what anything you wanted after the scan was over, or did you have to keep it light? Having my scan done this Wednesday🥲🙏🏼
Was you able to request something to mellow you out as an option? I'm severe claustrophobic. I am waiting for the radiology to call mentor schedule mine. Negative on gallstones, everything was normal....
Thanks for sharing your experience- my doctor wants me to do after having abdominal pain for 3 months- started with Salmonella infection and now after salmonella symptoms went away I’m have more abdominal issues and back pain- I did an ultrasound and blood work all normal.. I’m scared to schedule the HIDA scan!!
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching! :) I’ve always wondered if anyone actually ever gets that or they just try to scare us from eating too much raw cookie dough! Do not be scared, it’s really not that bad I promise! The hardest thing I’d say is if you’re claustrophobic, being in a tight closed area could be difficult! Good luck, keep me updated! ❤️
Thank you for this informative video. I am having one done Monday and I am nervous. I have bad anxiety panic attacks. Could you they inject a medicine in the IV to help calm my nerves?
I was advised to get a HIDA scan but I have heard of a non-invasive safer test called a FibroScan for those with liver disease. So I’m going to ask for a FibroScan.
I just stumbled across your video as I get a HIDA scan tomorrow and I was wondering what it was going to be like and now I'm really concerned as I am in fact claustrophobic. But hopefully since its early in the morning and I'll be coming off a 12 hour work shift I'll be too tired to really care about being in a tight space for 2 hours? I guess I'll find out tomorrow, but thank you for sharing your experience
Hopefully that and the fact that you still have your hands and feet ‘kind of’ free will help too! Best of luck, feel free to share how your experience goes! :)
@@RachelGreene Well, I can say for a fact that I do not want to go through it again. Mine didn't quite look like how yours did, it was more like I was flat on my back, and I think most of my body was in a tube (not sure) and there was this thick panel that was above my chest but it wasn't even half way across my chest. None of that was the issue I had with my HIDA scan, it was how it made me feel. I was nauseous through the whole thing, and more than a couple of times I thought I was going to vomit multiple times. The last 30 minutes was the worst (I only know the time because the tech told me) as I wasn't supposed to move at all, and during the last 8 minutes of the scan, my IV started acting up so a tech had to hold it in place for the remaining time. I hope they got the imaging they needed as I will refuse to go through it again.
Nine places not let me get the US of Domino ultrasound same day and did a HIDA scan same day and I didn’t find out until the day before before so I had to push it up another month it’s taking me five reschedules to get my scheme done I’m at my wits end with my gallbladder but I have a feeling they’re going to find absolutely nothing and I’m gonna sit here and have to suffer with it for the rest of my life it’s gotten better since I had weight loss surgery and the pain and all the discomfort in the appetite issues I’ve gotten better than starting to act up again Because I don’t visually see any stones or anything crazy they refuse to take it out I’m so frustrated
I'm going through same thing. I have gallbladder sludge and supposed to get a hida scan done. I don't do well from surgery so I don't want surgery. I'm just being careful what I eat and frustrated. Drinking green smoothies helps me and you can look up Dr Brooke Goldner on RUclips and she has free recipes in her videos helps tons of people with all sorts of health problems she reversed her lupus and doesn't have it anymore. Also you can buy some gallbladder enzymes look up Dr. Eric Berg and Dr Mercola online they sell some. I just started taking it and I think it's helping.
Did they ever find out what was wrong? I've had the same symptoms, and they've done a bunch of tests (everything normal so far) and a HIDA scan tomorrow. I've been wondering if it's endometriosis, because we are also dealing with secondary infertility among all these other symptoms.
You are describing what happened to me. Watch the gallbladder videos from Dr. Berg here on YT. Turns out my gallbladder is not ejecting very well. That is what my HIDA scan showed.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m going in tomorrow morning for the HIDA Scan and a Small Intestines Series with a Barium Swallow, of course, I had no idea what to expect. I do worry a little, because I am a little claustrophobic. Your video has really helped though, thank you.
God, I'm scared. I don't know what to do. I want to cancel the test because I'm afraid of the radioactive they inject. I asked if they could give me Ensure instead of injecting me and they told me no.
Dam I gotta get this sometime this week and I'm still nervous....the cramps I get hurt bad and just to know that they gonna make them happen sucks... great vid
