Yea, We Turks always get-up like this. If i forget to bring my kettlebell near to my bed i imidiately call my mom to bring it. Man you can't understand how hard is to get-up without doing this in Turkey.
This is the best video format. No BS intro music video, no Chad talking for six minutes about how Turkish get ups changed his life and made his dong bigger. Simply the exercise you're trying to learn and THAT'S IT.
Exact same thing I thought, man. And the next video recommended is how to do this same workout but it's 5 minutes long. Like damn, I aint trying to see all that. Just show me how to do the damn workout!
Before anyone does this with weight, you should practice with a shoe. Ball up your fist and balance the shoe on top. Do the movement. It's important to keep your arm vertical and maintain tension to protect your shoulder. I learned this from Pavel Tsatsouline.
Or a dumbbell would work for a even weight distribution while you're learning the form. The kettlebell really engages more of that core to keep stabilized but if you don't know the form you can really mess yourself up
My trainer had me doing the first part today, with a dumbbell rather than kettlebell. I’ll do more in the future. I’ll be 70 in Nov. - I’m 4’11” - YOU can do it!
I am a bit uncoordinated and I have been going to the physical therapist for shoulder instability. She says this is the best shoulder stability exercise (my shoulder clunks). I am working on learning this. Now, I am just focusing on the first part of it
the part that's hard for me is the very first lift from flat on your back. i lift my straight leg up a little bit as a counterweight instinctively. my form is slowly getting better though. good exercise. you definitely feel it the next day
These are great for if you get knocked over with a full pint of beer in your hand - so that you dont spill a drop - you can get back up without any help - and keep drinking the full pint
Agility in joints, builds shoulder and back strength and mobility, exposes weakness differences between the right and left, helps improve balance and coordination. Every major muscle group is involved with doing the full exercise. They are fantastic, and the beat part is that you do not have to do 50 of them a day to reap the benefits. Merely doing as little as 5-10 per side will quickly show results in beginners. As you progress from no weight to weight, there isn't an "end" to how challenging you make them. One can simply keep increasing the weight provided they have preogressed enough to maintain the proper form. It is overall a great exercise in my opinion.
Who is here learning Turkish get up techniques and read all the Joe Rogan comments and now would like to know which JRE podcast this was referenced on?
The "Turkish get up" movement was discovered by retired Turkish SAT commando "Namik Ekin" and his friend "Özdemir". Namık Ekin is also a contestant in 24 different branches. He holds eighteen (18) unbroken Guinness records. Despite the age of eighty, he continues to try to record records, including records such as skydiving and being buried in a coffin and fed only with water for seven (7) days.
lol same here dude! everyone else talking about joe rogan meanwhile I'm talking about key functional exercises. I read it and said "the hell... is a Turkish get up?" and here we are
Especially getting up from a cough at 2am Saturday morning, with a big bottle of tequila in your hand and 90s rave music blasting in the background. Ugh... Ew
I've just been to a kettlebell class where we had to do these, plus all the usual kettlebell swings, squats, full cycle, lunges, burpees and bastardos...my body will never forgive me! Arrrgghhh...but so good for us!
Hey, a video delivering content without 5 minute intro, a mobile game ad in the middle and 3 minutes of subscriptionand like begging at the end. Thanks!

But.... I want workouts that'll give me a bigger dong.
Exact same thing I thought, man. And the next video recommended is how to do this same workout but it's 5 minutes long. Like damn, I aint trying to see all that. Just show me how to do the damn workout!
If I don't have royalty-free trap music and a 25 year old dude with a shaved chest I just can't get into it.
complex exercises sometimes require proper form and some how-to tips are welcome, especially for beginners
Speak for yourself. If something is going to make my dong bigger I would like to know.

Thanks for the advice
Or dont do it and do an exercise that does something
@TooGumbica depends on your goals. This absolutely can have a purpose.
@@itsmegiles yeah, holding a weight over ur head while standing up in a weird way, it's insanely good at that one specific thing.
Joe Rogan brought me here.
Same here, watching McNamara now
me to lol
lol same
Me three haha
Same :)
I love how straight forward this video is
I’ve noticed that she does a hip thrust and a lot of other videos don’t do it. Great form in every part of the movement , love it!
My trainer had me doing the first part today, with a dumbbell rather than kettlebell. I’ll do more in the future. I’ll be 70 in Nov. - I’m 4’11” - YOU can do it!
How tall were you before you started doing this?
Who else is here because they watched joe rogan podcast?
Yep...
o/
me :D :D
Me too
Two years later... Still yep, LOL. Literally the only reason I am here.
I am a bit uncoordinated and I have been going to the physical therapist for shoulder instability. She says this is the best shoulder stability exercise (my shoulder clunks). I am working on learning this. Now, I am just focusing on the first part of it
From the post below, thanks to Joe for mentioning the TG.
okay Joe Ima be that one guy doin this now
Just realized I can do this with my phone instead of a kettlebell. Life-changing stuff!
So grateful this isn’t a 12:38 video explaining a 30 second movement.
I'm Turkish and I've never heard of this before... Until the Joe regan podcast...
In your case is just a get up
@@steelfil672 lool. They asked a fish "hey, how's water" to which he replied, "what's water. lol."
I’ve watched a few others. This is the technique I’ll practice with. Thank you.
I hated doing these in my workouts, but they are really good for full body
My osteopath recommends this exercise to me as one of the best after a rotator cuff injury. Thank you for this great stuff.
nah, i would have fallen over by like the second movement and knocked myself out with that kettle bell
This is great, just the demo I wanted. When I googled Turkish standup instead of get-up I got people telling jokes - that’ll teach me.
It’s sturdy and exactly what I was looking for without spending a ton. Very happy with my purchase!
the part that's hard for me is the very first lift from flat on your back. i lift my straight leg up a little bit as a counterweight instinctively. my form is slowly getting better though. good exercise. you definitely feel it the next day
Upvote for being concise. Thanks
Nice video. Very good execution. I started to do TGU myself thanks to this vid. Great exercise.
What does this train?
Thank you Izaw.

Joe Rogan Experience #1262 - Pat McNamara
Good job 👍🌹🌹
Very well done thanks 🙏 had not done these in a while - tough exercise
Thanks this actually helped!
I’m new to kettlebell workouts. Starting week 8 and wow, the strength increase is amazing! But what exactly does this exercise do?

Wow. Wish I had this routine as a fit boxer in the 80,s

The one with max lugavere
Right on
Even though the move itself is quite complicated, the video format is simply (pun intended) perfect.
The Irish get up is usually done with a pint of Guinness. More challenging but you get a reward for the effort!
Thanks👍
There is a 100% chance I will hurt myself attempting this
Also here because Joe roegan podcast with Kevin Smith lol
That video certainly got my Turkish up.

There are so many components
This is so much harder than it looks. Damn.
Можно ли делать это упражнение не вставая на колено?
As a Turk, I approve

You know how tough these are? Mad tough.
I have tingling in my middle finger and ringer finger that radiates to my elbows after doing this. Anyone got any suggestions on what is causing it?
You may have carpal tunnel.
this exercise exacerbated my neck tingling and burning on my left side... how does it have power neurological benefits?
Yes. This mimics real life movements. I guess?
Especially getting up from a cough at 2am Saturday morning, with a big bottle of tequila in your hand and 90s rave music blasting in the background. Ugh... Ew
Joe R said it was the least romantic exercise your in a spoon position at the beginning... maybe I'm in love/like?

ONE!
I'm tryinna figure out how to do this and I've never used a kettlebell before in my life.
My wrists
They pain.
oh man, that angle is so confusing to copy
Man this is hard to do right. Seems to require a lot of mobility.
Joe Roganed too.
Imagine having to explain the teaching points for “Turkish get ups” with no demonstration
actually chad ottoman soldiers have to get up with 45 kg kettle if they want to join army
Stronger longer
Ok, I'm not doing this. What else you got?
Basu Shankar brought me to this
this is a lot of steps for one rep. i'm smoothbrain, i can't do all this.
I’ll watch this 25 times and then I might figure out how to do it without doing it improperly.
Use playback speed 0.25 or 0.5 to get the hang of it. 😊 I played it at 0.5 speed and got it.
