I dunno but I think Tim was classically trained in piano and probably translated that knowldge to guitar? I'm not 100% sure on this but he knows his theory VERY WELL so that part just comes natural. No way to do it without years of just practise and messing around learning stuff

This kind of insight is so valuable; I'm learning as a musician, and so often I'm mystified by certain songs - G.O.A.T. definitely one of them - because I'm like... they legit just sat there with their guitar and came up with such an incredible piece of music from nothing? So seeing the building blocks to the finished product with such transparency is so helpful, as well as showing a direct example of influence from 4:07 on. This is the kind of music lesson a mind like mine really needed.

Nothing comes from nothing. Reminds me of something that is attributed to Einstein, "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." The things that will make you a good composer, solid music theory, listening, really listening to music, transcribing other musicians songs by ear, and writing original pieces, initially, away from your instrument.

Not only do they pique the interests of those who just like their music (but hadn't really cared much for the production and composition side of things), but also the people who produce songs themselves who'd really like an ounce of directly inspiration from someone who makes music they really really enjoy. A lot of moments where as a producer or as a composer, you'd go "Huh, I should probably use that".

It's partly a very Bach way to compose. I love how he takes fresh sounds that inspires him and isn't afraid to go faster in tempi on an instrument. Shows how confident he is in his basics of the guitar. It's ingenious. Imagine instead of the track program and the electric guitar, a metronome, organ and a violin instead. Great stuff.

I feel challenged to create my own version of this song, which definitely will be completely different, because well, we are different. I presume I will learn a lot from this adventure.
