Nope. Under tech specs for audio it says no microphone and my computer did not detect one at all. I actually used the Logitech BRIO microphone with it to keep the audio consistent for the video. www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-ultrasharp-webcam/apd/319-bbhp/pc-accessories#techspecs_section

Thanks so much for this comparison. It's been tough finding relevant information on the Dell Ultrasharp Webcam, and I believe yours is the first non-Dell video with sample footage running at what appears to be the device's maximum 30 FPS. Overall, I like the Logitech Brio better; movement seems slightly smoother, and I'm a fan of the more washed-out look (as it covers up blemishes, etc). It's a common complaint, but I actually/also prefer the fact that it brightens things up. All of that said, I'm certain that with proper lighting/angles, the Ultrasharp can produce high-quality videos (as it captures colors, details, and depth-of-field more efficiently from my perspective). In case of DELL Ultra 4k webcam: I have noticed that in HDR mode the picture quality goes down in comparison with HDR off (gets more cubics and looks low quality). I have noticed it on video here and personally testing it. Any explanation for it. Can it be improved?

@@NelsLindahl I love the Dell UltraSharp camera but it did cause issues with my other Dell Peripherals such as keyboard and mouse. Trying to figure out why the mouse and keyboard are going nuts while after the camera is installed in the Peripherals manager. Had to end up doing a bluetooth connection with Dell keyboard and mouse to get them to function appropriately. I do like the camera and the auto-tracking controls during a zoom.
Strange. I would not think that hardware would use the same bus or drivers. I hope you get it sorted out.
What happens when you look at the webcam when they are positioned on top of the monitor and your reading a word doc, in terms of 1) do viewers notice that you're reading 2) can viewers see that you're not looking at the camera but are instead reading from underneath the camera? 3) Given that, is it better to get a teleprompter? Which brio model number did you hey? I purchased one thinking it was model 960-001178 but it came in a brown box logitech model 960-001106. I'm finding conflicting information on any difference in video quality.
Does the Dell 4K webcam have an option to change the Background? i.e. Blur out the background, Blank, Other scenery, use your own photos as the background

Thank you. Is the tracking function of the Dell cam something that can be turned off? I teach yoga on Zoom. Tracking might be annoying to the viewer? Dell's color saturation seemed superior.
Totally. I turn it off during serious meetings. It can be distracting.

The brio image looks a lot more blury and also the contrast is much too high.
Did you maybe upload without the correct HDR settings?
Because otherwise I don't know how you could prefer the Ultrasharp over the BRIO.
I've always wanted an Orange amp. I'm not sure how reliable they are though. I saw Eagles of Death Metal play live and they blew two Orange amps.
You can change the speed of the AI auto-tracking for the Dell Ultrasharp 4k webcam as well btw

If I wanted to use either of these for my work laptop (where I cannot install any software) is this possible? Or must you have admin rights to install their software to use them?
I'm going to assume your USB ports are not locked out. I have used both of these on work computers without issue. They both worked when they were plugged in. Maybe buy one from somewhere that accepts returns just in case. I use the Dell Ultrasharp every day for business calls. Obviously, they are working at 1080 and not 4K for all those WebEx, Zoom, Teams, and other calling platforms.
I agree it should work out of the box but you won't have specific driver support/settings that you might want to tweak when using in a work environment. So it should work pretty well imo

I'm not sure. The Dell has a delay in shifting for sure, but they do that to keep motion smooth. Based on your comment the motion was not smooth enough.
Please compare it to something recent like Elgato Facecam and Razer Kiyo Pro which share the same Sony lens. BRIO is from 2017
When I get either the Elgato or the Razer I'll totally do the comparison.
Thanks for the video. From my very untrained perspective, the BRIO looks way better, main aspect for me: Your polo shirt. With the brio I can see its colour and little wrinkles. With the dell it just seems to be black. Can you maybe state why you think the Dell is the better choice with examples?
The BRIO is very bright vs. the Dell. I use it every day on one of my computers. The other where I do more meetings has the Dell. Both are great webcams. You can probably tell that from the video.
The contrast was higher on the dell. It darkened the video and made the shirt not stand out as much. A different color shirt would have given a different result.
I didn't like my Dell Ultrasharp 4k and returned it. IMO the Brio's image can be adjusted to look better than the Dell.
Yeah. I'm split right now with one system using the Brio and the other using the Dell webcam. I did have to turn off the AI face tracking as it was bothering people with the bouncing around. It was not smooth enough for business meetings. My office is pretty well lit, but I can see how the Brio might work better for you it is a rock solid webcam.
I think the image doesn't have high quality on the face. I think it's inferior to competitive webcams, even some that are only 1080p. For example, Elgato's new webcam, which is only 1080p, seems to have better quality, even more so in a low-light environment.
The elgaro web cam has the same sensor. And I disagree. The elgato cam looks bad or the people show it off don’t have it set properly
The audio matches your lip movement on the Brio. It does not match on the Dell. The video lags on the Dell. Is this because of the setup you have? I know the Dell doen't have a microphone. Is the defference because of your setup or are you using USB 2.0 or because the microphone is seperate for the Dell setup?
That is entirely possible a setup issue. I use the Dell everyday on video calls and it does not do that. The Dell has no microphone on it at all. I had not noticed the lag on the video!
Is the Dell set to 4K output (2160p)?
If I understood correctly, the auto-follow works only below 4K (because it records at 4K, zooms on the person and output 1080p).
BRIO also seems way sharper. These two facts makes me think you have used the Dell not at 4K.
Interesting. The resolution in the Dell Peripheral Manager software is set to 4k UHD at 30 fps. The file size was big enough and the video editing software thought it was 4K. Later today I'll maybe hit record with the AI Auto Framing turned off and see if it makes a difference.

Then I suppose that it just zooms on you with auto-framing enabled but, because it's digital zoom, the actual image resolution is lower.
This could explain why BRIO seemed quite sharper.

Sure. I'll record a little demo of the Dell Peripheral Manager software using OBS. That will take a long time for RUclips to process in 4K so it might not be ready until Tuesday.
The brio smooths too much on video and cannot be adjusted, making someone look plastic. Does the Dell Ultrasharp have this problem? I have an HP 34" monitor.
I have been rocking the Dell Ultrasharp on my daily workstation for a year now and have never gotten that comment back. I don't use it in 4K as most video conferencing is barely HD. I turned off the tracking feature as it seemed to distract people.

Totally. I have i turned off. It tends not to go over well in meetings.

Thought I would add my 2cents after having this since the beginning of July.
For a business/work use this is better than the Kiyo Pro, which has the same sensor. Auto exposure is far superior than it, sharper image out of the box, and auto frame feature alongside windows hello support are big ticks.
Although for streaming I would go with the Kiyo Pro, it can handle YUY2 at a higher frame rate. Only 20 FPS at 1080 on the Dell.
I have also seen a comparison between the Razer Kiyo Pro and the new elgato facecam and would say razer kiyo edges that one. Elgato software is very customizable and you can save settings on the webcam. All three have the same sensor.
Would have bought the Dell in a heartbeat but it does not have the software with Macs so it means I can't adjust the settings and the AI feature wouldn't work.
Interesting. I have only used it on Windows 11 Pro so far and it has worked well. I'm going to see if maybe I can switch over and use it with my Ubuntu Studio image. I don't have a Mac to test it on at the house.
The Dell didn’t even focus on you but the wall behind you instead. That painting is super crisp while you are blurry. This is the opposite of what you expect from a webcam.
Is it just me but apart from the focus going back and forth, the Brio looks better here?
That could be the case. This is just a direct comparison of the two video recordings. Maybe I should have tried to go back and forth a couple of times between the two video sources.

@@ddmorales Oh the suspense must have been building... If you are using the Logitech BRIO for meetings and other general webcam things, then you won't be disappointed. I have recommended it to friends and family for some time.
